Volkswagen Phaeton W12: Luxury Limousine's Stunning Transformation with Full Detailing

- Designed by the imfamous Ferdinand Piech with 10 oddly-specific requirements, the Volkswagen Phaeton W12 is one of the most luxurious saloons you've probably never heard of. Piech demanded the car be able to drive all day long at 186mph, in 122 degree heat, while maintaining an interior temperature of 72 degrees. It had every luxury amenity known to man on-board the Phaeton, which being designed along side the Bentley Continental GT, makes complete sense.
This rare W12 Phaeton made its way to our car detailing shop to have THE WORKS done to it! We performed a full dry ice cleaning, both of the undercarriage, and the wheel wells, completes a wash, full paint correction, and deep cleaned the interior. We finished an Artdeshine ceramic coating, along with a handful of other things like painting the calipers, installing window tint, and applying ppf.
Unfortunately, the Volkswagen Phaeton was not a big seller, making this one of only 1939 Phaetons in America. If you think about the mythology of its naming, it seems quite inevitable... Phaeton was the son of Helios, who insisted on taking his pop's chariot of the sun for a test drive, and ended up dead after Zeus shot him with a lightning bolt for not being able to control all that horsepower and crashing it in to the earth and the stars.
Seems kinda fitting for a W12 car that never made it out alive, doesnt it?

Is it? I saw one @ a local car dealer but I never owned one. The ride is in mint conditions 6.2 W12 for like 10k ... it seems to be unreal almost. Is that possible? or just is a car with no market. I am considering it
@@luthier78Maintence costs are very high, it's a very mechanically complex vehicle and drivetrain, which reflects the low resale value. But, it provides an amazing driving experience. It's worth understanding that these cars are now available to the average person. They were designed to be the best of the best out of VW Group, so they aren't cheap at all to repair and maintain, but give you a driving experience like no other.
Ferdinand Piëch's technical tour de force, itself a commercial failure, but perhaps the most technically developed car of it's time.
The basis for 90% of modern Bentleys and the engine basic architecture was re engineered for the Veyron.

Was a very expensive car of its time, especially for a VW. Was one of the reason not many were sold. Add on the high price tag for maintenance and repairs, one needed a hearty bank account to fund them as most of the original owners had.

This vehicle has been well taken care of. Very surprised to see the interior looking so good even before the detailing. The wood veneers are prone to cracking, as a bunch of them in my '04 V10 Touareg have done. Love seeing a piece of obscure automobile history kept alive and shined up so well. I wish I didn't have to contend with Ontario road salt so I could see my own vehicles brought back to life this nicely.
Must have only a couple if not single owner. Usually cars this old have seen at least 5 owners and no love.

I wanted to get one of these as they're probably the best value in the market until you realize 5 ECUs are controlling this thing and parts are impossible to find/need to be pulled off Bentley Flying Spurs. Future collectible though along with V10 Touaregs

The silver paint in the headlight might be faided. I think the actual headlight lense might be made of glas on this car
