The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black was the book that absolutely made me fall in love with folklore-like fairies. The whole idea of regular people living in a harmony close to fairies and having their rules for interactions, tales and everything was incredible. I've been looking for similar books for a while and Emily Wilde was the closest that I got to it
I DO have that book on my shelves. I love how she writes a more sinister fairy like traditional tales. I haven't read that yet, but maybe I'll give that a chance and just stick to her fairy reads.
Okay major moment of nostalgia for Daughter of Smoke and Bone, that writing is indeed just something special!!
And dang, quite the bummer to hear about The Stolen Heir. I really trust your opinions on that one considering how much you adored the original trilogy, so I am definitely gonna lower my expectations for that book now hahaha.

Historical fiction is my favorite genre. I have been trying to explore other genres as well. Each month I try to focus on a different genre. I have also been loving reading a historical version of each genre as well like historical mystery or historical fantasy. 🥛🐄
I really want to get back to my Ken Follett books. He’s the main historical fiction author I come back to.

I tried my first dark romance this year (Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann) and surprisingly quite liked it. So maybe one you might enjoy as well!
Psalm of the Wild-Built was a 5 star read for me but I think it's because the message about purpose really hit me at the right time in my life. Can totally see that not connecting for everyone. And I can't wait to read the Greatcoats short stories! Saving that for after my next series re-read.

Oh man 😬 I’ve seen enough bad reviews of Book of Night to not want to pick that book up, but I’m really hoping I, at least, like The Stolen Heir. Maybe not “love” it they way I loved TFotA trilogy, but at the very least somewhat enjoy it
