This was kind of a practice run, so I didn't mind keeping that Xero fight at the start which lost 2 seconds.. a pretty good run otherwise

What do you mean shame? Did he do something wrong?
Assuming you mean him getting hit twice at the start: that is intentional for the fury of the fallen charm. His attacks deal more damage while low hp.

At the start of the Soul Master fight, are 3 hits with Fury of the Fallen more worth it than 2 Abyss Shrieks? Is it to conserve Soul?

You're better off using your abyss shrieks to finish off phase one, leaving him at very low health for phase 2 where there are less damage opportunities
