  • This is 2/3 in the custom keyboard series. In this video I make a usb c cable with an aviator connector. This isnt a tutorial but if you are taking on a similar project hopefully it will help :) These kind of cables can retail from 30-100+ and I figured if Im gonna make my own keyboard I might as well make my own cable for it.
    Parts
    Usb cable: $18.00 zapcables.com/usb-2-0-cable/
    Aviator: $3 zapcables.com/detachable-conn...
    heatshrink: $1 (I got mine at homedepot)
    techflex: $8.80 -15.70 ish (depending on which you get) www.wirecare.com/category/bra...
    USB type A: $5.98 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...
    USB type C: $7.99 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...
    Paracord: $4.49 www.paracordplanet.com/
    I bought several different techflex and paracords. I also had shipping which was $6 on wirecare. in total this project costed me 96.24, but I do also have enough material to make more cables in the future.

    For the cable to keep its shape and spring back together, you need to reverse coil it. Trust me it will make the coil 4 times better!

      @@Nuttist But why it's so expensive? I bought similar components but from Aliexpress and Ebay. My version costs 50$ (with excess components).

    Was look at if anyone has tried casting a keyboard case from aluminum but found your video on making a wooden case.

      Fernando Leon an aluminum one would be sick, may need to try that in the future!

    Is there a reason for using 5 pin aviator isntead of 4 pin? Will 4 work better/worse?

    • @Nuttist
      @Nuttist  Před 3 lety

      Robin Bosman 4 pin wouldve made more sense but there will be no issues from using a 5pin. The reason i got a 5 pin was because on zapcables where i ordered it that was the default so i wasnt sure if my usb cable would come with 4 or 5 wires inside it
