Ellsworth Kelly: Conservation Stories

Weighing almost 1500 pounds, Untitled (EK927) was commissioned from artist Ellsworth Kelly in 2005 as a site specific installation in our Hunter Courtyard. Recently, on the advice of sculpture conservators, the Phillips decided to remove the deteriorated surface coating and reapply a new matte black patina. Follow our journey from deinstallation, to stripping, to burnishing, all before reinstalling the work in its restored state.
