Kay if you use fresh vegetables instead of frozen it will make a difference. When any veg is frozen the ice crystals from freezing makes tiny cuts in the veg and turns the veg mushy so when you cook it all the flavour goes straight out in to the water. If you swap to fresh you’ll find all your dishes taste better.

You really have made a good hearty healthy meal. Try if you like to season chicken, start practice with a garlic salt, you can get adventurous with other herbs as you get more confident. Steam veg with salt herbs little drizzle of lemon or garlic oil for a crunchier veg. For really good mash add lots of butter, salt n pepper, dash of milk, and one egg yolk (yellow bit) is optional, also optional to add little bit of grated mature cheddar or red leicester cheese and work it into the mash to mix and melt into it. Depends on if you need to be lactose cholesterol and dairy free or not. It enhances things a bit for depth of flavor. You're great 👍 keep it up 👍
Kay please. Stop using chicken gravy granules. Look at the ingredients. When you cook the chicken, put it higher in the oven and bake until the skin is golden brown and crispy. Dont forget to put thin slices of onion on the bottom of your pan under the chicken with a bit of water. Then use that onion and juices from chicken to make the gravy.
That did look like a nice Sunday dinner, small too, perfect for when you don't want to big a dinner and leaves room for a nice slice of something sweet. You do have to be careful when eating chicken though, it is a very boney fish. I remember one time when eating chicken and I swallowed a bone that got stuck in my throat. After several hours of coughing, it eventually came loose but went up the nose hole that's at the top of the mouth and into my sinuses. Luckily, a few weeks later it worked itself out through my eye. I tell you what, it really was a relief when it came out, it really was. Fumbs up.

Bisto flavours have really gone downhill, imo. Schwartz have brought out some chicken gravy granules that taste a lot better but they're a lot more expensive so might not be good for everyday gravy.

Unesessary. Can be done in a pot/pan. Just add little water and cover. Humanity has been done without steamers for long time

If you would boil your veggies or your potatoes in broth, it would add a bit more flavor to them.
