- Nachos are delicious. And versatile because today they're also going to help us learn a thing or two about your digestive system. Nachos can provide us with energy and raw materials, by first ingesting something nutritious, propelling it through the alimentary canal where it will be mechanically broken down, and chemically digested by enzymes until my cells can absorb their monomers and use them to make whatever they need. And eventually, there will be pooping.

you know I wanted to eat nachos bwfore starting this video but I was too lazy to go get them. Then I started watching the video and saw Hank eating nachos and I was all like, "THIS IS A SIGN FROM THE HEAVENS!!!!" I immediately got my nachos and started eating them while watching the video. I used to watch the Vlogbrothers religiously every week when I was in high school --I probably started watching them in about 2011, which is wild to think about. I'm taking an Anatomy class as a prerequisite for OT school, and I just remembered that Crash Course exists. Total game changer. Thank you so much for doing what you do, these rock!
And Hank, I saw you play years ago at Black Cat in DC (early 2015, maybe?). I went with my Dad and he said "It's the guy from Crash Course!" It was a great show! I think of it every time I watch these vids to study.

Point of order, the Calories on the food label are really kilocalories, the amount of energy to heat a kilogram of water one degree Celsius.

Yes, but Hank gave the definition of a calorie in the episode and applied that to the video, where he really meant Calories, the equivalent of a kilocalorie.
