We, as a human species, should be proud of achieving this.
Yeah slam the Monkeys, give it up for the human race. If we only use 10% of our brain imagine what we could do before the curse of sin and Adam and Eve on guitar.
ha ! made me laugh ! so true !....
@J Hankins maybe you only use 10% of your brain but most of us use way more than that. where the fuck did you even hear this bullshit?
YES
I do what I can for the people
They should start giving out Michelin stars for such tasty playing
I think the multi million dollar contracts are enough.
@@redrock1963 I don't think they have (or ever will have) multi-million dollar contracts
@@wowjef pretty sure at least one of them has

@@LfunkeyA The music industry ain't what it used to be. And I doubt it ever was for acoustic guitar virtuosos.
Every once in a while, on any given day, I journey back to this video (take 46) to listen yet again because to me it exemplifies perfection. The tone, the feel, the variations, the dynamics are just heaven. I just can't help but to keep coming back !
É simplesmente maravilhoso!!!!!
I don’t care how many times I listen to this…pure magic. Start to finish. Perfection.
Me too 😂.
These guys together is like being allowed to get two desserts!
This guys are Divine criations that create ...I love them!
Yes match appreciated. Peaceful Music. Beautiful all together.
I love Tommy Emmanuel but Joscho Stephan is in a different dimension.
@RickyLaneMusic Well said!!
Just HAD to say that, didn't ya. Now I'm HUNGRY! ;-)
4:17 joscho throws out a “in the hall of the mountain king” reference and tommy immediately echoes in his comping without missing a beat. Now thats musicality.
Absolutely amazing...
Fantástico!!!!
exactly. you will never pull it off like this without their brilliant minds
This seems like an idea that Tommy planted early on @2:40. You can see Joscho smiling then. Joscho then took it and ran with it with a complete mountain king motif.
This part is absurd
I'm a mere mortal who fumbles around on guitar and have been playing on and off for 69 years, when you see this great playing it's music to my ears.
Joscho Stephan is the first guy I have heard that is reaching Tommy's level in terms of feeling, musicality and virtuosity. Incredible.
long time fan of tommy, first time hearing joscho and i must say it's really sweet, great pair.
Disagree respectfully, there’s just so much texture in Tommy’s playing and the guitar…and his solo sounds more like a song melody
Two absolute world class musicians, sharing ideas and laughs.
Perfect description!
I don't think there's ever been a better pairing of guitarists than this, since the invention of the guitar
It is like every guitarists dream of seeing Chet and Django playing together almost coming true... Tommy and Joscho make it possible
😅 3:46 hours
when Tommy Emanuel solos, he always remind you to remember the main theme in every phrase beside the new ideas he incorporate in between. That is a craft that differentiate a seasoned soloist from a mediocre one !
Agreed, many times those who play lines as fast as they can would sound twice as good at half the speed! More room to think and feel
Hearing that, you get to feel like the first person discovering happiness for the first time.
I wish I had neighbors like these two. Life would be Grand. 😁😁😁😁
Me too...!
Well, they won't be home much!
Unbelievable...the way joschos gypsy jazz style compliments the country style of tommyand vice versa, world class.
I really like how both gentlemen have equal guitar parts. No one steals the show. Two fabulous guitarists! Thanks for the great vid!
You know, this is one of my favorite songs... Every so often I find it again, being played beautifully... it makes me so happy.
Guitar playing does not get any sweeter than this by anyone at any level and in any genre. What joy!
Tommy is a master. Always careful not to over do his soloing. Simple and perfect. No frills or fillers.
Josh Music more emotion into every aspect of his soloing
@@JohnVo423 stop comparing. music is not a competition
@@spilledbeansrecords5685 who said it was?
Or, filters. Or, fillets. Or, for that matter... .... ... ... fill-anthropists. Oh, Tommy! And you, possibly overdoing your solos, Joscho!
@@spilledbeansrecords5685 It is indeed a competition, if one is serious. A competition firstly with yourself, and then with every other player you wish you were as good as. If you respond to that sense of competition, you work and get better and become one of those guys.
Tommy is my lifelong idol, but hearing Joscho play for the first time is otherworldly.. I’ve replayed this solo of his a few hundred times today. I’ve never heard somebody fit several styles of guitar into one solo let alone with such ease.. The rise he gets out of Tommy says it all 😂 What a treat, thank you for sharing with the world..
AMEM Austen Reid
It doesn't get any better than this! It probably never will. The peak of musical perfection.
Most probably but you never know and so we keep coming back hoping for a miracle..
Ole, I absolutely love your playing! Hugs from Seville!
Paola, did Tommy and Joscho already hear you play? You play at the same League!:)
I absolutely love your playing too!
Muy fan de estos maestros y muy fan tuyo Paola, muy grato de verte disfutando de esta musica tambien. Saludos!
Perfect
We love you Paola ❤️
Two of the best guitarist of our times 👌🏼
Not too many can hold their own with El Maestro but Joscho can.
4:22 that repetition of Joscho's "in the hall of the mountain king" lick from Tommy is so subtle but so appreciated too. These guys are masters.
It's more than a simple music talent. It’s loving it with all the heart and God’s gift to play.
The tone of Joscho's guitar is just wonderful
I was thinking ThE same
I keep coming back to watch this. What a privilege to see two such brilliant guitarists playing in absolute harmony.
It's addictive.
How can anyone give a thumbs down to this? If you appreciate music, no matter what style, this is a work of art that showcases the very best in guitar talent.
They are failed guitarists
When you grow up in an era when all pop music is a four minute version of a ring tone or egg timer.....
This jam is absolute masterpiece.
you will never get that gipsy jazz out of joscho Stephan.. and that is good.
I love Tommy’s rhythm voicing almost more than his lead. A true master of the instrument
Criminally underrated in comping. I totally agree.
If anyone ever tells me I'm good at guitar again I'm gonna show them this video. These guys are the true masters of our day.
Yeah, but you’re actually pretty good also ;)
@@supersecularboypants oh did you listen to some of my music?
@@BenjaminMorrenMusic I did, you're extremely talented! Just remember, hard work beats talent, but when both are combined, there is nothing stopping you.
@@supersecularboypants thank you!! Good advice 👍
And they say there are no gods. Here they are, the guitar gods
VERY musical and expressive. Clean plaing with attention to the elements of music such as volume, dynamics, tone, rhythm, vibrato, staccato, etc. VERY soulful This way of playing is what sets Tommy Emmanuel above most others. Beautiful music.
Not to mention space and silence!!
I love Tommy Emmanuel but Joscho Stephan is in a different dimension.
@@OjoRojo40 Joshko is playing his style, while Tommy Emmanuel is out of his own field... Tommy is still good enough, and always tasty. If you know the style, you can see that Joshko doesn't do too much, to not emphasize the difference. savoir vivre
@@swingmanu9969 Savoir vivre de quoi??
I love Emmanuel but Josho is definitely more skilled, watch any of his videos, the guy is just an alien, maybe the best guitar player alive.
" If you know the style, you can see that Joshko doesn't do too much, to not emphasize the difference. savoir vivre".
Can you explain me this sentence please? You are saying that he's emphasizing too much his style.
Have a good day!
@@OjoRojo40 Don' t answer too fast! No matter what Tommy Emmanuel plays, he always makes it sound good, or preferably "good enough". He has a trademark sound of his own, but he shares the stage playing other styles, where he's not as good. In doing this, he take chances... In return, Joshko manages to not play his most demonstrative style, so Tommy will not look bad... That's what I call "le savoir vivre" : make sure everybody feels fine when you're in a good position. And, last but nor least, I couldn't care less who's the best guitarist in the world, and who's not... By the way, there's one thing you may not know: these very fast and furious manouche styled guitarists are a hundred per cent better in non-professionnal conditions , because the quality of the pickups or mics imposes them fast playing, when acoustic(or low amplification) conditions allow them the soulful slow playing that is lacking in their shows. It's not just about speed...
I never heard guys playing acoustic so well together and balance and air between. This is my alltime favorite.
Casual virtuosity. So great to see world class musicians just enjoying the music and each other.
Hall of the mountain king in there somehow at the end of Joschos solo!
Tommy surprised him a bit I think by responding back immediately
I can’t stop listening to this. There is so much fantastic music and so many fantastic musicians on CZcams - whatever ‘fantastic’ means to you. To me, this, and they, are fantastic.
It’s an honour just to watch and listen to these masters!
Doesn't get any better than this.
what a synergy of two geniuses of acoustic guitar !!!... pure essence of music beauty , it could hardly be better
I love this. Tommy hitting those soft sweet spots and joscho just slithering in and out there with whimsical runs and rhythms. Perfect!
two guitar players in perfection👍
Who needs drugs? I get high just watching and listening to this performance. LOOOOVE it!
Natural high, yes :)
You don't need drugs to enjoy music, you need music to enjoy drugs. Cheers!
@@dissco.partysan3333 nice reply
I do both at the same time :)
I could hear it 100x and still be playin it
sense of humor goes so naturally with their talents...
I think that this is one of my favorite recordings. I love the self taught Tommy with his Spirit leading the comp.. And his genuine love of whatJ oscho is doing.. He is selfless and loves the music
When Tommy says yeah, you know you're good.
Tone is indeed in your hand! Thanks two lovely guys thank you!!!
You know, the virtuosity in this is obviously amazing but my favourite part of this video is the beginning and the way the chords start along side the melody. It's such a beautiful song and chord progression.
It's such an honor to just watch these two play, even in a video. My, my.
These guys have an amazing musical chemistry together.
Two masters of their instruments. Listen once to just enjoy the music. Watch their hands the second time around. Watch their faces the third. Just found Stephan. Some players contort their mouths to the point one just focuses on their hands and the music. Stephan's eyebrows are fun to watch. Some times I catch his jokes. Emmanuel is always entertaining.
We don´t need a big orchestra in this case! Perfect as it is! Enjoyable and nice!
Es bleibt unbefangen wie die fogelgesänge in unseren Ohren Hängen, für das Leben, Danke ❤
Stars are breaking apart, can’t stop listening to this after year of listening to this.
That was nicely said, an' I couldn't agree more, Real precision, and they compliment each other sooo good to watch😮😮
I used to be Paul gilbert fan cause of his absurd precision, now I admit to have Joscho as number one, so many notes that look like words wich I had never tried to speak trough my guitar!
When these guys play I go way back when I was a kid watching and listening to fine players and nothing else came to mind. It wasn't fame, or money, or competition. It was pure magic and nothing else. Still is
Tommy is like Jeff beck. If he never played a fast lick, it wouldn’t matter, because every note is gold.
If he needs to go fast he can surely do it.He has some covers on youtube with insane speed
VulgR as can Jeff beck, but it wouldn’t matter if they never did. Their note choices are always the best.
I love how Tommy Emmanuel transformed himself from one of the best guitarists in the world into an even better one.
Watching this 100+ times. Thinking about setting all my six guitars on fire....
Can relate so badly man hahaha
@@injoker7772 Me too.
the moment when joscho plays hall of the mountain king and tommy follows him is magic. come to spain you both!!
U serious?! U have these two amazing guitarists together!! Thank u soooo much xx
That’s damn near perfection. Honestly...does it get better than that? I think not.
My gosh Joscho Stephan plays the tastiest licks in this. My jaw dropped!
Never in your life will you hear classier guitarists than this folks👌
Every time I see Tommy play, I think virtuoso isn’t quite a strong enough description. Joscho, you play beautifully.
We obviously love the soloing but their individual rhythm playing is also right in the pocket.
I love how Tommy is taking in Joscho's playing. Both guys are having a blast.
That was beautifully played. I enjoy watching professionals having fun.
i don't know how many times i've listened this amazing piece.
I love 3:51 when Tommy says yeah coming from him that's a real compliment incredible performance from both players, pure genius!
I feel like I’m completely unworthy of calling myself a guitarist until I can do just a fraction of what these men can do.
Two of my all time favorites together. A good start to the day.
I love how Tommy laughs as Joscho plays one of his incredible runs at around 3:48 - that's what music should be, no competition, just playing together and having fun :-)
This music brings tears to my eyes. It's old school human live music
This deserves 5 Million views. That crispy and tasty sound of guitar makes me watch this over and over again.
Wow, are they from this planet? Sorry, can't find the right words to express how much I enjoyed seeing this.
Very nice duet. They complement each other well. Joscho clearly has more dexterity, but Tommy's note choices are a bit more interesting and colorful. He really knows how to surprise.
Were two ever more in harmony? Think they are the best duo ever, not just the skill but the feeling and interpretation.
Transition at 4:23 gives me chills
The perfect way to start my day!
HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS ! We can't help but close our eyes.. FABULOUS DUO :-) :-) :-)
How true, great musicians.
That was cool. And beautiful! You've passed the audition, gentlemen.
He's a sly old dog, wanting us all to know this is take 1, but why not, it was pretty brilliant.
These guys are masters, they know where the notes are, how to get to them, why they are the notes, how to use them, and they oscillate between picking the melodies they hear in their minds and letting the technique choose the notes.
All that said, when I look away, the music sounds very good.
Amazingly great guitar playing! Nothing more needs to be said............... 👍👍
That just made my day! The giggles of Tommy show all the respect. Two masters at work.
Amazing, wow. Two lifetimes of practice not enough. Just unique talent.
2 giants together... Can move mountains of emotions... THX
"..... What Corona Virus ?! I feel perfectly fine, and even better after listening to these fantastic guitarists!
Удивительные музыканты ! Браво ! Отличное настроение после такой виртуозной игры ! Beautiful..🎶🎸🎸🎸
Did anyone notice the CGP marking the 12th fret on Tommy's guitar?
That stands for 'Certified Guitar Player', an honorary title Chet Atkins assigned to guitar players who excelled far beyond the normal line of playing. He handed this title out to only four guitar players. .Jerry Reed, Steve Wariner, John Knowles and Tommy Emmanuel.
and Marcel Dadi.
Thanks for pointing that out. I wondered.
Love this video, watched it ten times but only now have I noticed that this is actually some kind of perfect mix between Tommy Emmanuel's western/american bluesy way of playing (lots of bending, long notes and so on) and Joscho Stephan's eastern european way of playing (much more picking, django's and gypsy's style). It's perfect, just perfect, and love the wink to king in the mountain hall :DDD
Didn’t know Joscho but his phrasing is unreal....really not possible for two guys to play guitar better than this...looking at the pristine here.
This is absolutely incredible. Two of the best in the world hands down
I could watch Tommy all day.... So effortless..
When one guitar god says "yes" you know you did something right. Your piece was super pleasant.
Hand offs are seamless. Both guitars are so different in tone they complement each other. The harmonics stuff is nice.
Whoa. We all know what a complete music master Tommy is (and I could and do listen to him daily!), but Joscho also deserves a hand for how fluidly he plays around the 3:20 mark.
I will now be smiling all day
Tommy and Joscho both paid the price to be nice. Hours and hours of detailed study and practice to later perform with masterful ease.
Good thing Joscho put that guitar down when he did, she was about to catch fire.
Two guitar geniuses
