    A short and sweet description of how its made, very helpful and interesting! Well done and keep up the good work because doing something which has been destined to be scrap and turn it into a piece of working machinery is called mechanical art.

    Wow, if you don't have an engineering degree I am very surprised. Great lift, smooth mechanisms, great scissor action, and made of scrap metal?! Incredible. Hats off to you sir, I dub the "Titan of Tinkering"

    @pod5131 @dsclayton1986 Thank you for your great response!! It means a lot to us as we are only amateurs who did this in our free time. We do not have any power-tools so we did this with simple tools , and yes, it is scrap metal (which was used as building material; concrete support channels). You can watch this same jack fully complete with paint job. Thanks again!!

    Joseph, thanks a lot for the plans. I think this will be my winter project while the weather is too crappy for riding. I had started on some plans while looking at your video. But after seeing your plans, I have seen a few things in your plans I like better than what I drew up. I will send you some photos once it is completed. Again you did a bloody nice job, hope mine comes out half as good.

    good quality, bought the plans but need more detail for the cost of the plans you've left a lot out, overall happy with the package. emailed you, Ive managed to get 100x50 box section instead of welding two 50x50 together this saves 1lb per metre of boxsection but has the same torsional strength., the best home made lift on here

    In the beginning I used the filler plug as a return of oil flow from the hydraulic motor (as I was doing some testing on the system). Then I changed the system so I removed it. I then transformed it as a 4mm hole to be used as an air flow. The oil return is now connected from the underneath of the hydraulic cylinder... If you want you can send me an email on joenem@go.net.mt and then I'll send you a diagram of the hydraulic system I used. Thanks for your comment and good luck with your job :)

    Mate, love it! I'm in the process of building a 1.2x1.2m surface area work bench that goes from 10cm (drive my ute over it) to 110cm. The jack I purchased looks identically to yours (8 tonne, long stroke). I can see around the filler plug on yours there's some scorch marks... What happened there? My jack is a little temperamental with being extended from horizontal. Oil doesn't reach the pump on one pump side. Filled and bled properly. Did you have this problem? Love your work. :)

    hey Joseph
    I love your lift. I am a drummer in a rock band and have been looking for ages to find a lift that is as smooth as yours to lift me and my drum kit .. could you let me know if you think it would be stable enough,when fully extended,,and how much the thing weighs, because it will have to be moved from gig to gig although probably only special gigs, like festivals and bike shows.theres a thought i could even promote your lift at shows,

    • @JosephCini1
      @JosephCini1  Před 9 lety

      Hi Colin,
      Thank you for your nice comments about the lift. I can assure you that it is stable enough and also has its safety features. I don't know exactly what the exact weight is, but to moving it around is manageable with the wheels, but lifting it on a truck / van or maybe up some stairs would not be that easy, although I suppose having some help would be doable.
