Actually Benedict Cumberbatch acting made "Sherlock Holmes" character a genius. in the other portrayal during the past few decades, holmes seems to be kind of freaky and weird at time, always wearing a suit even at home! and cumberbatch is a lovable actor because i seen his progress in acting, which we don't really have from many actors. For example, we remember Roger Moore as James Bond...that's it.
Personally.... For me it's still Mr. Jeremy Brett's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes.🙂
He even study all the mannerisms and gestures of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock. It was fantastic. From the way he whistles down to Sherlock's laughter.
Nevertheless, Mr. Cumberbatch's performance is fine on its own. He gave his own approach to the character that is unique of him.

'Sherlock' to me, was the top most innovative show, covering an old time favorite character, ever !....Brilliant casting and great updated story lines , without losing the spirit of the stories......I used to love the ones portrayed by both Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett..but yeah, Benedict is just totally brilliant, infusing so much into the role.....Top show ! BTW, who the heck cares about their sex lives, that's their personal business...People these days somehow feel totally entitled to have opinions and say so's over other peoples lives...what a crock of dung, that is.....

The gayness is down to the viewers and the eternal push fans have put into insisting Watson and Holmes shared an apartment this means they must be gay.
Without the overall 'gayness' on the show, it would completely change either good or bad depends to how you look at it.

Benedict is my favorite. I only knew him after Sherlock, only thought of him as just another actor, but then I realized his name, started seeing it everywhere, then when I looked up to see what other movies he was in, I realized I've heard his voice quite a lot.

First observed Benedict on star trek into darkness then as Dr. Strange.. it's not that he's outstanding looking he is unique looking but in acting is very magnetic. Thinking his acting ability & unique presentation makes it harder to not look at him when he's playing a part.

Up until Benedict and Martin paired up as Sherlock and Watson, my all time favorite Sherlock was Jeremy Brett on the long running series based on the books on Masterpiece theater. Those were some great, quality shows and Jeremy was an awesome 1800's Sherlock. There were 41 episodes in all and if you haven't seen them and are a Sherlock fan you have really missed out. They stick very close to the books and cover all the stories written by Conan Doyle.
I love Benedict'Sherlock but I guess I'm still in awe with Jeremy Brett's portrayal of Sherlock.

OMG, my favourite part of that entire video was the last part: "...if you're anticipating the 5th season." I feared they'd ended it! I'm SO happy to hear there'll be more of all of them. I enjoy all these characters but you forgot at least 2 fan favourites: Mrs. Hudson (who's incredibly funny) & Euros (who creeped the hell outta me but I loved it).

You asked us to state how we rate Mr. Cumberbatchs' looks. Well, for one thing, looks are largely irrelevent. But if I had to say something it would be that he has kindness in his eyes. You can also see perpetual youth & some flickers of mischieviousness. I am happy to know that he has a loving marriage & 3 little Sherlocks (or perhaps Smaugs?) running around filling his life with joy.
My favorite BBC Sherlock actors are Andrew Scott, Lara Pulver and Louise Brealey.
I think Rupert Graves and Mark Gatiss would look so cute together and would to see Mystrade ( a cute fan ship) written into the series. The main reason is there is so little representation of older character couples in the media gay or straight. It would be a real breakthrough as far as plot lines go.

I have been absolutely enthralled with Mr.Cumberbatch since I firt saw him in Star Trek. I sat in the theatre trying to understand his face. I draw people a lot. When i see people I see combinations and balance. His eyes are small for his face but the color draws you in. His lips are all cupids bow and bottom lip but that smile and voice keep you mesmerized. His facial porportions are off yet his cheek bones are to die for. His beauty shouldnt exist but it does. He is sexy and all the things i find beautiful in a man.

Regarding Benedict it's hard to pinpoint what exactly makes him stand out. I remember first noticing him in Tinker Tailor Soilder Spy, a movie stock full of actors I adore. Then this young and (for me) unfamiliar actor shows up all confident and steals the show. He has a lot of intensity and charisma, and whether you think he is gorgeous or not, I find most people agree that he is amazing.
And as someone else mentioned, the way he interacts in interviews helps alot. He comes across as smart and well spoken, and intelligence is very sexy.
A fun thing to watch. My favourite characters? Sherlock and Molly Holmes - oh did I say that? I can dream, can’t I?
