- Have you ever wanted to see a forest straight out of a Studio Ghibli movie?! Then I recommend that you check out Towada City in Aomori - home to the Oirase Gorge - a stunning stretch of forest covered in beautiful moss.
In this video I wanted to show you all the great things that Towada has to offer - including the Modern Art Centre, the famous dish known as “Bara-yaki” (grilled beef an onion BBQ) as well as the luxurious hoshino resorts oirase keiryu hotel.

Finally, worldly famous Japanese Christmas is coming and every Colonel Sanders all over Japan looks happier than ever.
Having made videos about Election, Festivities and even DEATH in Japan, I realized there must be a lot more things in Japan that I take it for granted, but not revealed to anyone outside Japan yet.
So now I want you all to ask me questions about "JAPAN"!
Leave me a questions below and I will try to answer as many as possible in my next video.
Hope this will be your Christmas present from me.
Wow that’s sounds nice looks like another reason to want to live in japan
❤
"I'm not some peasant that stays in love hotels to make videos".... I'm telling chris you said that
First of all love your content and you are one of the best guest's on Abroad in Japan
So my question is about where i should live in Japan while i study the language (major city)
Tokyo, Sendai, Osaka, and sapporo are on the list but would prefer a city that gets lots of snow or has alot of snow around it
Good shopping is also a must
many thanks
how about some videos of non-Japanese restaurants? I'm curious what the locals feel about an American Steak House or a Taqeria for example.
That restaurant along the river is so beautiful!! 😍
I would end up getting kicked out, I would never want to leave the table! 😋
Right??? Amazing!
I did not expect that place to be that good! Your really should visit soon!
Hopefully when I go to Aomori (because I simply must!) I will find this one! I live rivers! 💕
“I’m not some peasant who stays in Love Hotels to make videos”. Now I want a Ryotaro, Chris, and Connor collab video. The Accents alone would be epic
is it weird, that i also thought of Connor, but i was sure, Ryotaro only means Chris?
@@konroz same, although Ryotaro probably used love hotel as a memory trigger since that video is still relativity recent, and the joke won't fly over everybody's heads
"I'm not some peasant who stays at love hotels to make videos". Ryotaro casually roasting Chris and Connor there.
I was looking for the roast and it wasn't when we were critiquing food. 😆
I love how Ryotaro is just referencing a few things about a "certain" person we all would know. *ahem* Chris.
A Japanese man wearing a mariachi outfit and speaking French while preparing American beef. A true man of culture.
ミスター・ワールドワイド
worldwaido ojisan
Ryotaro is already a living anime character so he fits right in the forest
How many nukes you have?

Mark Felton in his Cheeky Limey Manner over at his channel compared your black leather jackets to Adolph's. You know those Brits, they all think they're in Monty Python and Benny Hill's Show !......"WW II Dictator's Planes".........is his latest on "Mark Felton Productions" ( Channel Name ).
You are right dear leader!
🤣 supreme leader knows the best
Ryotaro forever proving that Ryotaro is not just a man, but a way of life.
The love hotel jab got me! :'D
“I think this is symbolism for like uh, goat”
*Hmm yes, the goat here is made out of goat*
We stan a sophisticated and cultured king
Wtf i see u everywhere
I see you everywhere
Ryotaro you would be such a great art critic 🧐🖼️ explaining works like a true intellect..
You've got that right unlike the British
@@RyotarosJapan Well definitely a certain Briton!
@@RyotarosJapan I feel attacked, but I'm sure he just means Chris.
That roast of Chris and Conner with the love hotels got me haha
RYOTARO!?!?! How did i not know you have your own channel? Love every episode of AbroadinJapan where you make an appearance. Your banter is top tier and your insight and knowledge is immense. I smashed that subscribe button, and am excited to go through your past videos!
As a chef, I'd be cracking up, but also genuinely pleased by Ryotaro's abundant sound effects, exclamations and facial expressions after eating. To see someone derive so much joy from you food -- the ultimate compliment.
Ryotao's bantering with Chris is gold
happy birthday, handsome! thanks for the lovely forest tour (& the laugh at chris' expense, "not staying at a cheap love hotel").
"No not you, piss off!!" had me going. You can really tell Ryotaro spent time in the UK lol
I see GHIBLI, I instantly click on the video and like button + its Ryotaro so its perfect video!
The Dragon Quest reference killed me. :D
I don't remember the art museum, but we used to go hiking that trail all the time when we lived in Misawa. I miss it so much. I love that trail and river.
That bara-yaki dish looks delicious. Not only that, the restaurant's name is my middle name, so I will have to try and make it there next year. It's only fitting. And, as Sharla has mentioned, that hotel and restaurant in Oirase is beautiful.
Yes, Ryotaro, you are thing.
PS: I'm French, and I did not realize his outfit was supposed to be that of a French aristocrat. That being said, I've never met a French aristocrat; there hasn't been any for like a century and a half. ^^"
It looks more like something out of Michael Jackson's wardrobe
Not after the Thierry Tilly incident, Mike.
Moi aussi j'ai pas realise son monteau.
He looked more like a mariachi
I've just realized that I have not seen nor met a French aristocrat either, and wonder how he came up with the outfit....
誕生日はおめでとうございます! ☺️🙏
Been waiting for another Ryotaro video! Keep up the good work!!
"I'm not some peasant who stays at Love Hotels to make videos"
I love the nonchalant shade thrown by Ryotaro. 11/10
The energy coming off of Ryotaro and Hatanaka-san could power a city.
Chris Broad the love Hotel peasant 🤣
🤣 That dragon quest joke at the end. And making fun of Chris without saying his name. 12/10
Hahah I caught that too!
This video made me smile. I really want to visit this area. The art, the food, the forest, river are amazing.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RYOTARO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once this pandemic is controlled and Japan accepts American tourists again, will definitely travel to north Japan. Can't wait!
The moss trail with a guide is exactly what I’m looking for … I’m very into botany and when i come in an other country I always wanna explore the plant live there and Japan is similar but also very different when It comes to plants
Happy belated Birthday, we December kids are pretty awesome! This whole area just looks so damn nice, and I would definitely want to eat at these places. 😁
Gotta love those Studio [REDACTED] movies.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Thank you for taking me with you to Heaven on Earth...what an amazing and spiritual place. The river and onsen are the perfect setting for relaxation and touching nature. I will have to visit in person one day!
Happy Birthday Ryotaro!!!! Thank you for another great video.
Thank you for the video, Ryotaro. We lived in that area for a while, and miss it very much. The restrictions were bit of a bummer at the hotel, it’s still somewhat enjoyable. The highlight is certainly the buffet.
Oh! You should try the horse curry at:
Garden Kitchen Tariho ガーデンキッチン 垂穂(たりほ)
Also, the soba at:
Fuku 蕎麦Cafe 福
Or, my favorite:
Hibiki
Obviously those are further from the lake and closer to the town, but I think they are quite worth visiting.
Take care!
we love you ryotaro and missed you
06:57 my favorite bit.
Beef onion rose. Very nice.
Beef onion is a taste that has lasted across all civilization for at least 4000 years my good man.
We all eat beef onion, from the burger, to the rose.
Japan's #1 cultured youtuber.
Woooo more northern japan prefectures. Not alot of Ytubers cover it. Thank you~
Gotta love it when you find metal slime
What a view! Drinking 🥂 by the water. You can’t beat that 🤩
Happy Birthday Ryotaro :) I'm craving apple puddings, onsen and rivers now! (and mirror slime :D)
Me too! What was the name of that hotel?
You get a like for the video, you get my eternal gratitude for the Dragon Quest reference.
Good roast on Chris with the love hotels! XD
The Final Fantasy fanfare at the end was a perfect touch.
Another great video Ryotaro!
Happy Birthday, Ryotaro.
Sincerely wish you the best.
Your videos are getting better everyday! Keep the good work!
It was about time for a new video! 😄
Gracias!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! 😃 You still look great for a 190 year old! Beautiful hotel on the river! Very scenic and luxurious. Good that you enjoyed yourself!
Only regret is that you promised to show us "Art" meeting "Nature".. and so naturally we expected that meant you were going to throw the cameraman into the river! Why not? 🤣😂
Your videos are so much fun! You have such a great sense of humor!
Damn. Ryotaro look significantly older now. Happy belated birthday!
Another Great video Ryotaro thanks
I love every second of this. Happy belated birthday!
Love your point of view on your country!
As always, love ALL your videos my man.
Always look forward to Ryotaro's videos and the cool places he visits, always making sure to show some awesome local cuisine, and culture! Another amazing video; well done!
I lived in Misawa in the 90s and we would travel to Towada quite often because we loved Oriase and it is so nice to see what it looks like now! I am glad it has become such a lovely town of art! This is one of my favourite places on earth and I am thankful you did this video so I could see it again in this way!
Great video and happy birthday!
Never knew Towado rocks like this... great sharing it Ryotaro!!’
You are a damn comedy genius Ryotaro
Japan's leading art critic
Thank you for the great video Ryotaro
hope your having a great week, Be safe and Take care
it looks so beautiful, I wanna go there so much! thanks for showing us these cool places to go in japan!
That was so beautiful. I love the modern art, the beautiful forest and osin.
When you say "I've come halfway" and that you can stop and "relieve yourself" in the forest in the same paragraph
Amaazing video :D love to see new places I had no idea of
Amazing video Risottoro!!
Ryotaro I been watching your videos since your channel started and this has been my favorite so far!
I should have kept track of how many times Ryotaro has called Chris a peasant throughout all the videos 😂😂
Into my bucket list it goes!
Nice video, I love how much hell he and Chris give each other!
Ryotoro, you covered some really interesting and exciting things do do in Towada. Thanks for sharing with us!
Happy belated Birthday Ryotaro, and Happy Holidays!
Thank you for this video. I enjoyed it very much. So beautiful!
It has been one of my goals to stay at the Oirase Keiryuu Resort for years! I'll get there one day. Thanks for the lovely video!
Great video mate, i think this is your best one yet. keep up the good work!!
thanks for the video!
That Dragon Quest reference at the end :D
Great video as always, Ryotaro!
Ryotaro is a mix of Ken Watanabe's coolness and Mr. Satan. This channel is improving fast! Good work!
The quality of the content is so amazing, it should have already a lot more views on this.
Love the Dragons Quest reference at the end! :)
This hurts me so much. My fiancée and I were supposed to stay at Oirase Keiryu in October 2020 for our honeymoon in that exact room.
We were lucky enough to go to the Towada Winter Story in 2019 and driving around the area in the snow is magical.
Beautiful.
You hitting the mushroom 🍄 for a point was hilarious.
Great video Ryotaro, Happy Birthday
Realy cool video loved it
The hotel at Oirase Gorge is just stunning - especialy the restaurant on the river. I had not heard about Towada CIty but it has gone onto my must visit list for my next visit to Northern Japan. Thanks for sharing this beautiful destination!
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place. I'll definitely dropby when in the vicinity. Cheers!
This content is next level
