    I had the same problem at first when I put new tyres on my motorcycle. The combustion was great, but the effect was nought. I finally figured you have to aim the spray through the gap between the rim and the tyre. The spray has to be inside the tyre not on its outside flanks. It worked a treat after that.
    Hint: if you take the valve out beforehand you don't need to attach the tyre to a compressor. You can actually hear the air being sucked in after a successful combustion.

      Tractor tires, especially lawn tractors, tires are delivered deformed and often require a tube even though they are designed to be tubeless. This is a great way to get them done vs paying $20-30 tire at a shop. Which is almost the cost of a tire.
      Not to mention anyone who's tried to replace a tire in the winter knows its neigh on impossible if the tire isn't in perfect round.
      When you need a tire on NOW, and not a day or two later, this is worth considering as long as you're not the average dummy.

    I DON'T KNOW IF IT HAS BEEN MENTION'D ANYWHERE IN THESE COMMENT ON THIS VIDEO BUT I WILL SAY IT . WHAT HE IS DOING CAN BE VERYYY DANGEROUS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING DONT DO IT ..... AND SHOULD NOT BE DONE THE WAY YOU SEE HERE... . BUT IF YOU INSIST ON DOING IT MAKE SURE YOU USE A BUCKET ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE RIM..... NEVERRR PUT THE WHEEL ON A FLAT SUFFACE..... IT CAN OR WILL POP UP AND HIT YOU IN THE FACE OR HEAD RESULTING IN MAJOR INJURY OR EVEN DEATH . ALWAYS MAKE SURE AND USE A BUCKET UNDERNEATH . SET THE WHEEL'S RIM ON TOP OF THE BUCKET SO THE WHEEL IS NOT TOUCHING THE GROUND . ALSO MAKE SURE SOMEONE IS THERE WITH YOU . MY ADVICE WITHOUT A PROPER... SAFETY CAGE AND TIRE CHAIN REISTRAINT I WOULD NOT DO IT . I JUST WANT TO KEEP YOU ALL SAFE . I always kept the stories I heard about split rims in my mind when I would have to take them apart, that said I never had a issue. I really wonder how dangerous could it really be, let’s say someone f**ked up and started to take apart one fully pressurized, wouldn’t the rim pop the seal before all the bolts were all the way out? It would certainly make you deaf and need clean underwear but I don’t imagine someone would get all the hardware out before the air/nitrogen escaped, no? If they did somehow some way.... ouch! I did a set of tires over the weekend. This is how I always seat the beads. I had a partial can of Pyroil starting fluid. I used it on the first 3 tires and it worked 1st time on each. The can was empty for the 4th tire so I used Supertech starting fluid. A can and a half later and many attempts I finally got it. It seemed like it didn't have the super fast flash burn of the pyroil.

  • @hillbilly4christ638
    @hillbilly4christ638 Před 2 lety +14

    If you put a ratchet strap around the tire and tighten it, the bead will come close to the rim. Always remove the valve core and do not hook up a hose to the rim. Sometimes you can use an air nozzle to force the tire onto the bead if it has contact with the rim. You were spraying way too much ether in the tire. A one second burst is enough, any more than that an the results might not be what you expected.

  • @lewis2553
    @lewis2553 Před 2 lety +28

    Once you failed the first attempt with the second tire, you needed to flush the smoke out of it with a blow gun since the air from the valve stem wasn't even getting into the tire. You have to have some fresh air inside with the ether for it to burn. Smoke won't work.

      You can still do them without explosives. You might need air compressor for those but you get one side pushed on as good as you can with your foot stepping on it then stand it up carefully , apply air and gently push the rim to get other side of tire to contact rim without it coming off the side you got bead stuck on. It may take a few tries. Helps if you have another person to apply air.

    Many times you can just put a heavy duty car ratchet strap around the tire and after a couple of clicks it will bow the bead out to make enough contact with the rim that you can just use air (no starting fluid) to initially get it to take. Just make sure that as soon as the air stops leaking between the rim and tire that you stop and then loosen the strap. This way it doesn't break and get ya. Then you can continue to fill and if you wd-40 the bead on the tire and rim then usually by the time you hit 40 psi or so it will pop on in my experience. I have used the starter fluid trick before but its definitely a bit dangerous. Especially if you have to hit it with a sledge to pop and the explosion transfers some energy back into the sledge.

  • @skeet25s
    @skeet25s Před 7 měsíci

    Instead of this extremely dangerous method.....and you are using about 10 times the amount of starting fluid at that, try putting a ratchet strap around the diameter of the tire and crank it down. That will bring the bead right up to the rim, so you need no explosion at all, just air pressure. If you can't get the bead close enough and need the explosion, use a tiny bit of starter fluid, in the gap.

  • @bostontrip1
    @bostontrip1 Před 7 měsíci

    A safer solution (because I just did it) is put on the new tire. Get a bicycle tube that will fit inside the rim. Fill bike tube with air. It seals the space. Slowly add air to vehicle tire, and remove air from bike tire
    Worked flawlessly on all four for me

    1. Way too much starter fluid
    2. You need a 4lb sledgehammer
