It was LT vz. 38, built by ČKD (Českomoravská Kolben-Daněk). After the takeover of Czechoslovakia, the German designation was Panzer 38(t) or Panzerkampfwagen 38(t), also known as Sd. Kfz. 140. It was light tank (9.8 tons) with riveted 10 - 25 mm armor. Nevertheless, it was better than the Panzer I and Panzer II - main German tanks in the beginning of the WWII.

In 1940 and 41. The armor wasn't that good so they started gaving them to their Hungarian and Romanian allies who hardly had any tanks.

Can anyone tell me if German or Russian tanks had some kind of heater in them for the crews comfort ? Seems to me that sitting in a steel box for hours during the winter there would not have been tolerable.
I imagine the heat of the motor will provide some warmth.
@@Gijs-bs7wr I am thinking that the motor would be insulated from the crew , protection from fumes and excess noise. Maybe small individual electric heaters to keep the crew from being idle in sub freezing temps. for hours at a time ?

A few spearhead armor formation, here and there, to the outskirts of Moscow or lower part of Tula, were far from their means to out flank or to encircle Moscow. Too late and too little and Hitler’s dream of colonizing the Eastern territory and making Russia Germans’ India was completely crushed. Wehrmacht could no longer dictate the term of war.

@ True, so it may be better to say that the 38(t) was the best light tank up to 1942. It certainly was liked by its crews, although the Germans used it more like a medium tank, a role for which it was not ideal. (BTW, the Stuart was a very good light tank too)
4:44 -- Крьім, Балаклава, гора Аскети: вид на вход в Балаклавскую бухту, слева внизу развалиньі крепости Чембало, дальше вход в бухту, две дороги, которьіе и сейчас есть, и дальше скала над морем Каранские скальі. Откуда немцьі стреляют у меня видео есть с 2013г., до сих пор те окопьі в скале,где они кушают и наблюдают за бухтой. И я тогда снимал в том направлении и все вокруг, один в один как тогда, ландшафт и геология скал и гор ничуть не изменилась за 80лет. Бункер, где офицер вручает награду на китель солдата, тоже стоит, мьі еще тут ночевали в палатке, над самим бункером, в воронке на земле от бомбьі. А где пушка у бункера стоит, я там видео свое снимал -- все досих пор там также и сейчас. Если найду свое видео, закину сюда в коммент. Позже в инете находил уже советскую кинохронику, когда советьі немцев вьібивали....и тоже из етих окопов, только хроника похуже качеством, но всеравно все понятно тоже.

Germany never had an adequate supply of oil, so it never became fully-mechanized (although there were plans to do so). Consequently, the great majority of the German Army travelled on foot & used horses to pull their artillery & wagons loaded with supplies & artillery.
This was not a huge problem early in WWII, because 'Blitzkrieg' tactics did not require a fully-mechanized army, just a highly mobile attacking force with close coordination between armour, infantry, artillery, and air force. However, once Germany was on the defensive & the Soviets could field numerous large highly mobile tank armies & mobile artillery, the Germans did not have the fuel & mobility to deal with massive Soviet offensives over a very wide front. (The same problem also existed in western Europe after D-Day, because the Allies were highly mechanized)
This is one of the reasons that Hitler began to order his divisions to stand & fight to the last man. Hitler, who was aware of the chronic lack of fuel, knew that rhe idea of employing a mobile defence system, which was much preferred by many of Hitler's generals, was not possible because of shortages in fuel & an army that was not close to being fully mechanized.
@@derekbaker3279 Great answer Derek. I think most people still think of the German army as being highly mobile. Infantry did move on foot mostly. The tanks had to pause and wait for them to catch up and bring fuel. That is why the Germans headed south to capture the oil fields in 1942. Without that oil, they had absolutely no hope of victory and Hitler knew that.
They had 2 million Horses in 1939. But if you have ever been to Poland you can see why Hitler chose to invade there. it's flat, very flat.
