Captured Film -- Germany Invades Poland 1939

  • The invasion of Poland gave rise to modern warfare that was literally powered by the internal combustion engine. Blitzkrieg (German, "lightning war" listen is an anglicised word describing all-motorised force concentration of tanks, infantry, artillery, combat engineers and air power, concentrating overwhelming force at high speed to break through enemy lines, and, once the lines are broken, proceeding without regard to its flank. Through constant motion, the blitzkrieg attempts to keep its enemy off-balance, making it difficult to respond effectively at any given point before the front has already moved on.
During the interwar period, aircraft and tank technologies matured and were combined with systematic application of the German tactics of infiltration and bypassing of enemy strong points. When Germany invaded Poland in 1939, Western journalists adopted the term blitzkrieg to describe this form of armoured warfare.

What is most amazing is the technology of the 1930s and 40s. The aerial reconnaissance taken by the German bomber is stunning. That's large format photos literally equalling almost an entire roll of 35mm film - Just for one picture! That's a far far higher resolution than most of todays digital cameras. And they basically took a picture every second. (HOLY SHIT!)

In this terminology Germany is NAZI, Britain and France so called allies are InterNAZI. Please note Red InterNAZIonal USSR is Red InterNAZI USSR. This is reason why the term NAZI is not was using in Red Propaganda by Red USSR. Now Europe is dead due to simple InterNAZIsm - leftism - antifaism.

At the end it was Ukrainian una gangsters who killed 100 thousand of polish civilians in 1943, not soviet. Don't forget soviet defended Brest for longer than polish army an entire Poland. What are you talking about? Was Poland defeated by the USSR and Germany? Well, what else can you expect from a person if he reads anti-communist and anti-Soviet propaganda instead of serious historical literature. Yes, Soviet troops crossed the border after Germany defeated the Polish army and the Polish government fled abroad! Poland no longer existed as a state, Germany occupied Brest, which, according to the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty, was supposed to remain in the zone of influence of the USSR. If the USSR had hesitated a little longer, the Germans would have spat on the MR pact altogether, occupied the entire territory of Poland and would have put their troops on the borders of the USSR. And it was not so easy to force the Germans to move back to the line indicated in the MR pact, to give Brest. The USSR, because of its generous expectations, was at an extremely disadvantage. And no one from Western countries helped Poland, despite the agreements! No one helped, and now they all accuse the USSR of being allied with Germany and of unleashing the 2nd World War! And they are blamed for the occupation of Poland, despite the fact that the lands occupied by the USSR should not have belonged to Poland at all! Poland itself occupied these lands 20 years ago - western Ukraine, western Belarus, part of Lithuania with the capital Vilnius (Vilna). What happened to Poland in 1939 was solely the fault of the Polish authorities, who, after the joint unbanking of Czechoslovakia with Germany, calculated that Poland and Germany were now friends for a century!

@@DmitryTihomirow you migh want to learn some history, too. You spit out manipulated one-sided non-sense. The division of polish territory regained after partitions from the 18th century (when Poland was erased from the map) between Germans and Soviets was planned by them and that was together with extermination of the people to ensure it never re-emerges again as an independent nation. Invasion is invasion, and Poland was not yet conquered completely when the Russians attacked, pillaging, raping and torturing and murdering seized and disarmed intelligentsia and leaders. It was the attack from the east coupled with the incursion from the west that dealt the final blow to a state that regained its independence 20 years before that after more than 100 years of occupation and persecution. After which blow both occupying forces implemented the policy of erasing the Polish nation and culture and history, and they largely succeeded judging by how well you know the real history of these events. But politics always writes its own version of what happened to serve the interests of those who happen to be able to tell the story.

a qoute from the german history book? Give me a break. Poland fought for 5 weeks as Roman has mentioned. Sure, after 2 weeks germans had conquered great majority of the country, but it was their tactics "blitzkrieg". They tried to capture as fast as possible the easier parts, and then finish with resisting regions. But whole campaign tooked almost 5 weeks. from 20-26 september Poles won the battle of Bzura its far more than 2 weeks. The last battle with regular polish troops tooked place near the city of Kock from 2-6 of OCTOBER sir! Poles had won that battle too. The white cross on german military vehicles in 1939 was an old version of the "balkenkreuz". Later in the war they painted it black with the famous thin white borders because the white cross rendered them too distinguishable a target to the enemy; the original white cross also made it difficult to identify friendlies in the desert during The North African campaign.

I just visited Poland and Auschwitz-Birkenau last weekend. I just feel so happy for Polish people that they were able to rise up from these horrible events and from being Soviet satellite country afterwards,. Warsaw was all but destroyed in WW2, but now its really nice city....sure you can still see some of its "Eastern Block" past with rather ugly looking Cold War era buildings/concrete flats, but its remarkable what they achieved in 30 years, the city feels quite modern and nice place to visit
at the same time its important that Auschwitz is preserved for future generations, no one should ignore/forget what happened there and in other concentration/death camps in Poland. I was quite speechless when I visited the sites there and especially the museum of Auschwitz I...when I saw pictures of orphan children whose parents were killed or taken away to camps on the walls there it nearly made me cry. and the remants of Auschwitz-Birkenau....well until you visit the place yourself its difficult to describe even if you have seen the videos and pictures of the place. The sheer scale of the site only becomes clear to you when you visit it yourself

@@Rym667 Germany has been called "Germany" (Germania) for 2000 years - i. e. centuries before Slavs even existed.
If you really want to go back that far, you should go back ALL THE WAY. The history of Gdansk starts in the 1st century BC when the region was first settled by Germans (hence the name "Gothiscandza"). The Goths then left the region during the Migration Period and slavs migrated to the region.
In the 10th century, there eventually was a little Slavic village consisting of a dozen earth huts called "Gyddanyzc". It was settled by Pruzzians, Kashubians and Viking traders (probably Danes, hence the name) in 997 conquered py Polish duke Mieszko I.
Following this conquest, the village Gyddanyzc was indeed governed from a castle by Polish nobles for a good 200 years.
But within the town itself, Poles were always just a minority. In the early 13th century, Gdansk even belonged to Denmark - so you see, when a town or region belongs to a certain noble under feudalistic law that doesn''t really mean anything. Using your logic, most of Europe (and the Levant) should belong to France because almost everything was governed by a French noble at some point.
Anyways, in the 12th century, a lot of Germans migrated back to the region of Gothiscandza and founded a new trading town, next to Gyddanyzc. In 1224, this new German town was granted the city rights according to the Lübeck Law. In 1227, the Germans founded a benedictine cloister and these two elements (the trading town and the cloister) laid the basis for modern Danzig.
After that, the feudalistic affiliation of Danzig changed a few times (From 1271 to 1280 it belonged to Brandenburg, for example). But the course was set. From 13th century to the deportation of the Germans in 1946, the city was continuously inhabited by a German majority and became German in its core. As part of the Hansa League, the city flourished and in the year 1500, Danzig was by far the largest German city. It's also one of the primary cities of Prussia - the core of the modern German nation.
So to sum it up: Yes, there was a Slavic village there before Danzig existed. But by the 20th century, there was absolutely no doubt which nation Danzig belonged to. The Slavic village played basically no role at all in Polish history - it was literally just a small Pruzzian/Kashubian fishing village that happened to be conquered by a Polish duke. But the Germans built the town of Danzig, made it a great city and a centre of German culture. If you look at the old buildings in the downtown of Danzig, you'll find that 99 % of them were built by Germans.

Kudos to the Cameraman. This is really outstanding. What makes it so
great was it was taken on the era when Information Technologies were not
present or just at the stone age and the time when the Media was not
that flourished. Great job ..Hats off

I love these old WW2 news segments with the Classic Transatlantic accent. Such a shame they're historic artifacts now essentially and aren't rerun or covered in the same depths as the "insert stupid 666th news article about the Kardashians"

It’s crazy to look at these soldiers in 1939 and see proud warriors who had a purpose, but by 1945 were almost all dead. the ones who managed to survive were unrecognizable, and fighting for the survival of Germany.
