      Of course they will fix it! This is a warranty issue. My experience with similar problems when i got my first 2019 M3 LR is that the issiues eventually got fixed, but it took some time, because the service in Norway was not properly set up in 2019, and all service requests disappeared into a black hole never to be seen again. I think it is understandable when Tesla was only one player in town. In the end, EVs are way more dependable and reliable than ICE. So, people didnt care about cosmetic issues like these because there was no maintenance, cheap operation costs, way better reliability and performance than ICE. Now, however, when u have other EV products, it may become problematic unless they fix it. But, that still does not concern me because the cars are great otherwise. But we will see, once competition gets closer when it comes to performance, range, charging, tech, then perhaps Tesla starts losing customers. But, until then, most of us Tesla customers dont care about these issues because the competitors still are worse even when their panel gaps are better. It is all a trade off remember. There will be cars that are better than other cars at some but worse than other cars at some too. It is always like that and different people prefer different things. That is why there are more than one paint and interior colors, options, models, makes because people like/value different stuff.

      I never noticed that before, it's shocking to be honest. This car costs the same as vw Golf Gti, Audi A3 Sport or Mercedes A series...
      Btw, while walking back to my old Toyota Avensis I was looking for the same Tesla flaws in all the other cars parked in the lot, and beside few Citroen's and Renault's, I did not notice this on other brands.

    I can so relate with Chris experience. Took delivery Oct ‘18 (day 1 rezo holder, super excited) car had 15 noticeable issues during walkthrough, some minor some major:
    -Panel gaps (top area where the roof and trunk meet, passenger door, frunk misaligned, mention it to the lead tech person and she says “oh, we’ve been seeing that a lot lately” in my mind I’m like well how bought u fix it before u release the car.
    -paint scrape marking on side mirror, paint bubbles, dust particles in paint, lots of rebuffed paint markings, paint blemishes.
    -3 dime size lifted bubble markings on the dashboard
    -lots of scratches on the center console area....did I buy a rental car/demo car? I didn’t ask for one.
    I had a nervous breakdown during delivery, enthusiasm to silent in 30 min. I didn’t know u could reject and never would have thought this would happen for a 63k car. Took it home and so upset I went back to the service center the next day and requested help. Who buys a car to then have it sent back for the 15 issues they want to work out, come on. The Mgr accepted the car back (showed her all the pictures of the defects), took 90 days for refund go another one when I confirmed it’s a new build car they say yes. Order comes in and it’s a DEMO car, I’m like no way! I didn’t wait this long for this. No tesla for me or at least yet until this figure it out. Really unfortunate situation.

    I have a 2020 Model 3 SR+ that I took delivery of back in Dec. 2019. I have panel gaps here and there, some paint issues, and rattling when I drive, but nothing as bad as this. The only major problems I've had that I needed service for was humidity in my rear driver's tail light and one of the tips of the pins in the charge port broke within a few months. (Tesla said they would replace it and never did, thankfully it works fine) Seeing your video almost makes it seem like quality control has gotten slightly worse since. Hopefully it gets better. Really nice cars, but they really need to get better at build quality.

  • @GraysonCarr
    @GraysonCarr Před 3 lety +4

    Okay, I think we have a case of people inspecting their Teslas much more closely than they would any other car. It would be nice if the car didn't have these issues, but they all seemed relatively minor to me, and seem to be things that you would find on any car if you inspected it that closely. I have a 2019 Mazda CX-9 (a $42k Japanese car), and after I watched this video, I went out and compared it. Like this Tesla, it has trim at the top of the door panels that doesn't perfectly align between the front and back doors, it has a couple places where there are small stretch marks in the leather, the gaps above my headlights look larger than below, my roof panel sticks up a littler higher than my tailgate / spoiler top panel, and some doors occasionally don't close if you don't close them hard enough (on my Mazda, this seems to be due to very thick rubber padding, but it has softened up a bit with use and happens less and less often). He would have never noticed the tail light alignment if he hadn't been constantly comparing to other Model 3s. I think the only reason people don't notice these issues in other brands of cars is because they aren't as excited about cars from other brands and don't look over them with a magnifying glass like this. I mean let's be honest, no one ever cared enough about a Honda Pilot or Toyota Camry to go searching for every 2 mm misalignment.

    1. A door with a frameless window works like that, the window won't close if the door is not fully closed, that is not Tesla's fault, it's how the door works. The black trim on the door might be fix by just pushing it down. Firstly take it out then push it down, it might just work and you will have it perfectly alligned with the one in the back. Yeah , you gotta slam it a bit but you get used to it. I have a 2019 mercedes CLA which i have to slam the doors hard on the back for them to close. It's not the best thing to do but you get used to it. After all it's not like you buy an S-Class or a Maybach, you buy a Tesla Model 3 which is aroun 50.000 euros.
    2. The panel gaps of the trunk-c pillar are not that bad to be honest, i've seen worse gaps in model 3's and other cars. What you have is barely an issue.
    3. The gaps of the tailights are a bit big but it's not that bad to be honest, maybe it also can be fixed by removing the tailight and trying to reposition it. Maybe yes or maybe not, you can try and see.
    4. The problems with the paint / clearcoat . Those can be fixed by polishing the surface until it's perfectly smooth , then apply paint protection film and you'll be fully safe from a lot of things. You don't have to repaint anything, just polish it at a professional and put PPF on it.
    5. The creases on the white leather might be because the leatherette was not properly stretched when applied and the glue that sticks it to the foam under it might have just deattached from the foam and there you have a crease. But you might be able to fix it with heat at a local guy who does interior leather stuff for cars.
    Remember you're not paying for an S Class or Maybach. In my opinion what you have showed in this video is very minor , i would gladly accept those flaws and enjoy the car for what it is. After all , you are gonna spend most time inside of the car not outside.

      Model X still has load of issues and sent fixed. You should not have these issues in the first place! Might as well buy a lexus!

    Anyone know if the M3s produced in China have quality issues. If not, then this is a quality labor issue in Freemont. Im not sure, but hundreds of workers in Freemont wanted to Unionize and stated qaulity and safety would improve if they formed a union because the union would bring in experts from other auto plants (musk took this as a threat that quality would purposely suffer if not allowed to form a union as a way to force his hand). What do you guys think the reason for persistent quality issues at Freemont (and new quality issues as pointed out in this video that was not seen on 2020 M3s)

    Disgusting that they can get away with this especially at the prices they charge.
    Sad that so many Tesla fanboys blind themselves to this.

    Panel gaps and paint defects on a Tesla aren't a surprise. Not good but not a surprise. I'm sure the service center will correct them. How does it drive and is it's performance up to expectations? Battery range?

  • @DES0MX0
    @DES0MX0 Před 3 lety

    nasty issues, but overall i'd also check if the effective full battery pack, degradation, etc are in order and such - over time, you'll pay more attention to that than the gaps (assuming worst ones do get resolved by Tesla)

    Its normal quality for tesla unfortunatelly. You should see alignment of the model X

      And Honda too. CRV, Pilot, Odyssey, a gap on the lift door is larger on one side compared to the other side.

    Thanks for the video I got my 2021 LR delivered from Fremont on 12/25. I have green tape in the exact same spot in my interior. Also same issue with driver's side taillight. And doors require some extra force to close, and front passenger door is misaligned. Hoping that a service center visit (couldn't schedule one until 1/6) can sort out these issues.

    Wow that really sucks!
    Seen the door one listed everywhere in other videos and Tesla fixed them well. Seen the roof and lights ones in other videos but not sure if they got fixed (I think a roof was).
    The seats are probably going to stay that way though. It sucks but they’ll probably crease soon from normal use anyway.
    Sorry to hear about the problems, keep us updated on how the fixes go.
