*I love how there’s an entire plausible sub-plot about land ownership, yet they died for the most petty reasons.* It just makes it even funnier.
I definitely encourage you to rewatch Hot Fuzz from time to time if you ever get even the slightest urge. You'll notice new details every time you watch it. Such a great movie.

All three Cornetto films have some running motifs. One of the most noticeable being the backyard fence hopping.
But you also got the breakup, the pub and, of course, the ice cream.
Funny thing about that: The Cornetto in Shaun was because Wright used to eat a Cornetto as a hangover cure, so he wrote that into the film. Wall's, the company that sells Cornetto, liked the free promotion and donated a bunch of ice cream to the film crew. Wright wanted to try his luck again and included a similar scene in Hot Fuzz, but Wall's didn't bite this time.
Right before they started filming on World's End, a fan pointed out that Shaun had the red Cornetto and was about zombies, while Hot Fuzz had the blue Cornetto and was about cops and jokingly asked if the green Cornetto was going to be about aliens. So Wright wrote in one more ice cream scene and slightly changed the script of World's End.
I love how Skinner always has some appropriate background music playing, just according to the murder scene he visits.
"Love strucken Romeo", "I am the God of Hell Fire", and so on. Rewatch and listen. It's fun.
There's tons of such little jokes hidden in the background.
Like the hedge that Angel and Danny jump over. Well, they can only jump over because it was clipped illegally, otherwise it would have been too high.

I really appreciated how they mashed together 2 or 3 genres and did it fairly seemless doing the cop drama, buddy cop and slasher in the same movie .
And comedy and maybe some detective movie.
*First part:* buddy cop/cop drama
*Second part:* whodunit/slasher
*Third part:* thriller/all-out action
These movies are even better the 2nd and 3rd time as you catch all the little hints of foreshadowing. Sean of the Dead tells you the whole story in the 1st ten minutes this way. The World's End didn't do as well at the box office, but in my opinion is the best of the three. To anyone who liked this movie, watch the other two in the "Trilogy"
I thought the ending of World’s End was a bit weak. That was the only thing that let it down imo.

additional trivia: Simon Pegg was in a sketch show before Spaced called Big Train, you will spot a lot of familiar faces in the cast actually. There is also a sketch where Nick Frost has an incredibly tiny cameo, blink and you will miss him.
Paul is one of my favorites. Seth Rogan as the alien just makes it even better.
At one point they were so poor that they had to share a bed. That experience made them even closer! :,D
This is my favorite of the three, but Worlds End is worth a watch. You might also enjoy Spaced. It’s the sitcom that Pegg Frost and Wright started on. It’s only 12 episodes (that’s 2 seasons on the BBC).
I know Edgar Wright doesn’t direct, but ‘Paul’ is another fun movie with Nick Frost & Simon Pegg. It also has the added benefit of very few reactors having done it yet.

I love Hot Fuzz, but I found World's End a bit too bleak. I'll probably watch it again at some point when I'm in the right frame of mind.
@@Will-nn6ux I really started connecting with Gary and buying into the movie as a whole right before the big twist, then it kind of lost me. On second viewing I enjoyed the first half less and the second half more.
In Shaun of the Dead where the actress who played Daisy on that show meets up with Shaun with basically the same group of people passing each other in the same order. (she's also the one who got the military at the end)
As mentioned, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright all worked on a TV show together called Spaced, which is HIGHLY recommended. You can really see them all honing their craft, Shaun was the inevitable next step.
One of the most consistently hilarious comedies of the 21st century. Even if you're not a fan of British comedy, the humor is equal parts broad and ingenious, and I honestly haven't met someone who DIDN'T at least chuckle throughout.
Not sure if you have watched Game of Thrones but there are a few actors from there that are in this. The police chief who is Danny’s father is the High Maestor/healer that Sam goes to. The guy that has all the guns and has trouble speaking is Walder Frey. Lastly the big dude that keeps saying Yarp is actually “The Hound” Sandor Clegane
Also a few from the Harry Potter series.

The guy in the Santa suit who stabs him is Peter Jackson, the Girl in the CSI outfit with the mask on is Cate Blanchett. Both are non credited but it's revealed on the BD... Once you know then it's really obvious it's them. Especially Cate.
Can't wait til you watch The World's End, man. In my opinion it's the best one. They switch it up and Simon is the screwup and Nick is the sensible one, the twists are awesome, the characters are more sincere, the dialogue is absolutely hysterical. You'll love it!
I love the inclusion of "Village Green Preservation Society" by The Kinks in this movie. It actually goes with the movie and is one of my favorite satirical songs.

Worlds End is a must see! My favorite thing about these movies is that they have so many film and cultural references that make it even more profoundly hilarious!

This film gets so many things right. The pacing, the edit, the plot, the action, the comedy... highly recommend watching it again to see how it does not really leave any loose ends and all the points that are raised get addressed and there are so many early hints as well.
Even watching this reaction video I noticed things I hadnt noticed before, and I've seen the film half a dozen times. It definitely benefits from repeat viewings. And I dont know if you noticed but the vicar played Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Great reaction to a classic, British humour at its best. Pegg and Frost are a great duo, also Martin Freeman and Bill Nighy are in all three Cornetto films, nerdgasm much!
Also things we've missed, great cameos in the beginning by Peter Jackson(yes, the LOTR Director) as the stabbing Santa Claus, Cate Blanchett(yes, THE Cate Blanchett) as masked ex gf Janine, and Garth Jennings, director of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and 'Son of Rambow' (Edgar Wright had cameos in both movies), as the hostage-taker

I love Edgar Wright because he uses the fact that movies are visual to enhance the comedy. Where most comedies are just people saying funny things, Wright uses sight gags, clever cuts and so on to enhance all the verbal jokes. He has almost ruined normal comedic filmmaking for me by doing it SO MUCH BETTER.

Whenever I see a Mission Impossible movie with Simon Peg in it, I always wonder if Tom Cruise has seen these movies and whether or not he's a fan. It would make sense that Simon was hired as the comedic relief in those movies because of these ones. :)

If not seen it also watched SPACED which was a TV series Pegg, Frost and Wright all started in and a lot of the actors in these movies were in those as well. Nick Frost jumping in front of the gun near the end is a call back to him doing the same thing in an episode of Spaced at a paint ball range, for example.

I like the detail that he gets impaled on the same spire he used to kill Timothy earlier in the film.
My favorite scene is after Timothy Dalton impales himself through the throat, he's asking for ice cream to sooth it. Such a gruesome moment made hilarious.

Many consider Hot Fuzz, Wright finest movie (tied with Shaun of the Dead).
Just like Dead parodied Zombie and Survival horror movies, Hot fuzz parodies the buddy action cop flick.
There's plenty of reference to 90's and early 2000 action films with Point Break and Bad Boys being the obvious.
This movie is like fine wine, it just gets better with repeated viewing.

Agree with lots of others below that you'll keep fuinding new bits each time you watch it...the Andy's are great ones to watch out for. An example for you...everyone and their mums are packing round here...oh yeah, who?...farmers...who else?....farmers mums. Then the first people he faces when he gets back to Sanford are the farmer and his mum, who is packing (and gets drop-kicked). There's a whole load of these to be found. Enjoy!

The pegg/frost/wright universe is massive. Starts with “spaced” and goes on from there. The threads are woven across British & American comedy for 2 decades, into black books, green wing, Friday night dinner, most are short seasons and all worth watching if you’re looking to react to tv shows as well.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have been best friends for over 20 years. It figures they'd have good chemistry together.

They didn't discover their chemistry in Shaun of the Dead. Pegg & Frost were friends, and roommates, and they already had two seasons of a tv show "Spaced" (which Edgar Wright also directed) together long before the first movie.

The DVD/HDDVD/Blu-ray got a commentary audio track of Edgar Wright and his friend Quentin Tarantino talking about everything but the movie.

I lived not to far away from where they filmed hot fuzz, it's a place called Wells in Somerset England, Worlds end is ok but not the best out of the 3 films. But you will probably love it.😊😊

It actually would actually be very easy to survive a shot from that gun if it wasn't loaded properly with enough powder. The Blunderbuss was only used for very close quarters. After about 5-10 ft, the lethality of it drops drastically.

Since you like Edgar Wright's style, I hope you also decide to watch the TV show "Spaced." It's his, Pegg's and Frost's first outing together and you can really see where a lot of the jokes and style of the Cornetto Trilogy evolved from. I've barely seen any people react to it and I think it could be a good fit since it's not too long (being a British show and all).

I'd suggest watching a movie called *_NORTHANGER ABBEY (the one with Felicity Jones and JJ Feild, 2007) ... after a novel by Jane Austen_* ... its books there (because the story is from the early 1800s), but it is the same principle.

Love this movie, I'm a big Simon Pegg fan. Just watched him in a thriller called "INHERITANCE"(2020)..He was excellent in a non-comedic role. you should check that out.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have had chemistry since Spaced, a TV from 1999-2000, 2 seasons directed by Edgar Wright, who directs these cornet to movies. It’s a great show, same style as these movies.

More foreshadowing: Just before that, Andy Cartwright askes why Angel is wearing the vest Angel says "It's a requirement". Danny is obviously wearing a vest when he jumps in front of Nicholas in the end.
Now you have to watch The Worlds End to complete the “trilogy”.
Fun fact: the trilogy is actually deemed as Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy. Loosely based off the ice cream brand Cornetto. In all three of the movies, you’ll notice them eating Cornetto ice cream cones. In Shaun of the Dead, they’re eating the strawberry flavor to symbolize the gore and blood. In Hot Fuzz, they’re eating the “Blue” flavor to symbolize the police. In The Worlds End, they’re eating the mint flavor to symbolize “little green men” and science fiction.
Heat and the original Point Break are two movies you should definitely do.
