Should have titled the video âJohn hits VO2 max for 21 minutesâ.
Fuckinâ brilliant mate đ
I hope you all enjoy this video as much as I did visiting CorsaCorsa.
An amazing shop that I was so lucky to get to visit. A late night email 11.30pm the day before, I chanced a visit. An almost instant reply welcoming me to the shop. â„ïž
Christmas has come early or you Jon.
Wow Jon, I think you spent like 7 hrs. in that shop (I can't blame you). I remember my teenage years when I can only dream about bicyles like that. My brother in law has a few in Puerto Rico and nothing rides as smooth as these bicycles...
Jon, you can visit Finland and come touch my 50-year anniversary Campy set anytime you want.
@@chencho7083 lucky!
@@jussiisokuortti3918 on my way. I've never been before.
That shop is absolutely awesome and I could spend days in there breathing in bountiful bicycle beauty. Jon, you lucky pup you.
Thanks!
Can we get the Heart Rate data for Jonâs visit to Corsa Corsa?
You can see his watch while checking the Kalavinka. HR 1419!
Definitly over 9000 :)
Heart rate monitor exploded
@@JonCannings Ludicrous Speed Go!
Jon cannings would have loved his đ to explode right there..... And he would have died a happy, contended human....
This is amazing! Rumor has it that Jon actually never made it out of there, and he's still interviewing campy derailleurs and six-speed cassettes to this day....
I've watched this video multiple times and certainly will watch it over and over again in the futureâ„
Would have been nice to hear a bit about the shop owner and how this collection was put together......
Perhaps the shop owner wasnât willing to discuss such matters, many Japanese are often very humble and private people.
Was all stolen

@@shanetonkin2850 Or maybe it's because of the ego of the westerners đđ
That was my Era of bikes-recognized every bike you showed. Love the C35 with Campy gold grouppo. The 50th anniversary Groupon still in the box was amazing. That's where I wanna go when I die!
Wow, a lot of memories flooding back watching this đČ
One of the best videos from GCN to date. Outstanding.
Itâs touching and reassuring to witness Jonâs love of bicycles. Itâs people like him who make GCN a special thing. Love it!
Nearly 3 years later and this is still the high water mark of GCN videos. Too bad that guy quit presenting.
@Jon Cannings you're my fav presenter on GCN. your enthusiasm is infectious!
Thanks. That means a lot to me
One of the joys of living in Tokyo is that this is close enough to be my LBS. It's about half an hour's ride away from my house. As someone who does most of his riding on an '88 Colnago, it's good to have places like this around.
There's not such a thing like Jon and bikes, it's true real passion
Hearing Jon correctly pronounce Campagnolo warms my heart.
Pronunciation of âRecordâ needs some work though ;)
Love the video Jon, It is just great to see someone who is that passionate about bikes see the bikes of his dreams. Reminds me of all the days as a child I spent in bike shops staring at all the parts I couldn't buy.
Yes. I grew up annoying the hell out of bike shop owners. Hanging around in a shop all day just asking questions and touching rear mechs etc.
Love those stitched on grips. Got this shop on the list to visit.
Still the best GCN video. Must have watched it 5 or 6 timers now! Bring him back to do an occasional special like this.
GCN's "Bike shops of the World"...I'd watch that.
Maybe I should make a comeback?!
How are there dislikes to this video? You must be kidding, that shop is incredible. The owner must be a true devoted bike lover! All the history and craftsmanship, itâs like a museum.
It was just incredible.
This is excellent, Jon's genuine, child like enthusiasm comes across with no faking. Fantastic!
The artwork is unbelievable. A Cinelli Laser road bike? A Bianchi Centenario? That is kinetic art. Jon was in awe and so was I. The bikes in the background were classic. A Colnago Arabesque! I want to go there just to look at them! Those bikes had soul. Yes, the latest carbon fibre tech is lightweight and attractive in it's own way, but it has nothing on the beauty of those bikes. Polished metal drivetrains have given way to black. Vibrant colors to accent paint. Chrome to carbon weave. Shaped tubing at one time was rare, now it's common. Time moves on, but beauty is timeless. Thank you for making this video!
My pleasure.
Agree. Everything in that shop was from an era of lovingly made, artesan bike building. Now its just robot factories.
Very true.
Mechanical art. Truely beautiful. Even stood still.
From someone who still rides a 531 frame, you've just made my year.
Jon's excitement gave me goose bumps.
Beautiful bikes! Can't believe Indurain's bike. That's a place for a pilgramage! Thanks for showing these gems!
@daAnder71 @ 6:32 in. đ
The best GCN ever. Genuine joy, love and respect for the best of bikes.
Bicycles are one of the greatest inventions in the history of humankind: It's a means of transport, fitness equipment, time machine and antidepressant , all in one beautiful package, because my bicycle takes me from a to b while improving my fitness and health, making me feel like I'm 13 again and filling my heart with joy, I don't remember ever being on my bike and not feeling happy.
ThatÂŽs so true, i canÂŽt go down a hill on my bike, without at least thinking "Huuuuiiiiiiii" (in a high pitched voice).
@@AtheistDD i hate to be the killjoy here but I vividly remember going that hill up again not thinking too many happy thoughts
There is nothing in the world as beautiful as old campy.Another brilliant upload Jon.
Except for new Campy ;) !!!
@@julmeissonnier no I think the old campy was a work of art.
Agree
My mate is an old campy.
I love all the vintage stuff! I remember all that tech coming out in the 80's and 90"s. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jon! Another fantastic video. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I grew up working in bike shops in the 80s. You are spot on with content for GCN's viewing demographic!
This has to be one of the most engaging videos ive ever watched. As a vintage lover myself I fully get how blown away you were to be up close to some of these bikes. Long live Campagnolo the absolute best..Colnago..and that Cinelli Laser TT...I wouldve lost it too...great vid Jon. đ
The carbon fibre Colnago with the 5-spoke wheels was something to behold. Amazing shop. Great video! Cheers Jon. I would have been drooling just the same.
That is pure bikepassion. Simply a pleasure to watch. Even my little daughter loved it, specially the gold parts ;)
I took my daughter to White Industries machine shop once when she was 4. She grabbed different hubs and mixed the colors all up!
Best ever GCNtech, more bike shop vids, more rebuild vids, more more more. Love your work. Best one? no I can not choose, no I will not choose I love em all. Especially the storage hanger of the Bianchi, definite Hack!
just stunning.
The most amazing thing in that shop was your enthusiasm. It's contagious.
I started riding in the early 1970s and I had owned a 1978 Colnago Super. This program brought me back to a great time in cycling and frame building. Thanks again!!
Jon, you have to go into 100 bike shops and see the same bland models, to really appreciate this video and bike shop. You never see so many nice bikes in one place. thanks for sharing.
That is one of the wonders of the world that place.
Thanks Jon. The beauty of the bikes and your passion made for an excellent video.
A big reason for the popularity of 24 inch front wheels was in team time trials. This allowed riders to draft even tighter.
Jon, your sheer delight and unbridled passion in this video touched new heights of enthusiasm. I loved it!! Made me think back to my bikes from the early eighties, 13-18 cassettes or 14-24, 52/42 and down tube gear shifters, one bike with internal tube cabling. Thank you!!
I think this has been the best GCN video for a while - the passion for bikes andour sports history really came over , well done Jon
I love how passionate you are, Jon! This videos are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jon's latest videos have gone to the next level. Such great content, thanks.
I almost cry just by seen your passion for all those fabulous bikescycles!!! great video!!
Super happy for Jon getting to do this video.
Absolutely love this video. Iâm hooked on GCN and think you guys are providing a great service to us all. Thank You.
But, This video..... Simply Great. For someone who fell in love with racing as a result of Indurain and his peers this is just so Special.
One of my absolute favorite GCN Tech segments. As always, thank you for sharing.
Steve
Few people can truly appreciate this video & the history.
This video takes me back. I was fortunate enough to own Rossin, Basso, and De Rosa frames always equipped with Campagnolo Super Record. Owned 'em, rode 'em, LOVED 'em. My last Italian Campy bike was the De Rosa and my gruppo options were Shimano or Campy. It was 1985. I put Campy on it so the heritage was dignified and never looked back. I loved those bikes and have always felt some soul was forever lost when index shifting and the latest of the latest became the standard approach. My Serrota carbon/titanium Ottrott is wonderful but it lacks that elan those old Italian rigs just oozed. Sigh.....
To this date, still the best video gcn has ever done.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I started cycling in 1980 and had much of the equipment in the video. It reminded me of how much better in every possible way equipment has gotten since then.
I donât really care about bikes. But just watching someone so enthusiastic about it made me watch the whole thing.
Thank you GCN for this, dream come true.
Absolutely awesome video! It's such a joy to see Jon's fascination for old tech and kit. Please keep those retro-videos coming, I really, really enjoy them!
Hope to bring you more soon....
great shop, wish you had interviewed the owner! the man behind the dream
this, the only thing missing!
Maybe there was a language barrier or something? Still what a wonderful tour!
So nice that You went to Corsa Corsa ! Tnx for the show !
Amazing piece of documentary and history. Its amazing that nowadays i can watch something like that for free and that someone like you can get to those people and make a video about them and their work. Such a great times to live in.
There's nothing more entertaining than Jon talking about retro tech!
As a huge Campagnolo fan, this Corsa Corsa shop is now a bucket list visit for me. What a wonderful place filled with beautiful bikes fitted with gorgeous components. Thanks for sharing, Jon!
I always enjoy Jon's enthusiasm for cool / old tech.
You've knocked it out the park with this one. Great job.
This shop is on my life bucket list - awesome bikes and parts! Thanks for sharing Jon.
Art at its best!
Beautiful timeless pieces of art.
Incredible collection.
Thank you for sharing your passion with us
CorsaCorsa content showed with true passion
Absolutely wonderful! When bikes were truly works of art.
Crazy cool vid! You guys are killing it. Looking forward to more.
What a wonderful video, itâs so great to see such genuine passion and joy from Jon.

My mother lives near the shop!
I didn't know that...
After Covid I would definitely visit!
The most beautiful thing is that you get to Japan in a bike shop where the only spoken language is Campagnolo!!!! That's awesome!!!! I've lost my eyes on Bianchi Centenario. I love Bianchi!!!! I've been a rider myself on bianchi's bikes.
I've notice something unusual: Indurain's bike you said from '96. Mounted a '94 cranckset. In '95 Record crankset changed shape with most rounded cranck arms. Probably it depends by Miguelon's preferences or by unavailabilty ok 180 mm long new kind of cranckset.... Who knows???
I didn't start riding until the early 2000s, then again in the last couple years. A few of these bikes are older than I am, but my first true road bike was a late 80s steel frame. As aero and lightweight as modern bikes are, and as smooth and plentiful as modern gears are, I still love the aesthetics and geometry of the older bikes. I can't explain why I love them, I just do.
Art on wheels... simply beautiful!
that Bianchi is the bike I dreamt of back in the mid 80s........
More of this please.fantastic
Can't get enough of this sort of content
Love learning about the history of these classic bicycles
Jon, happiness brought to a whole other level! ⊠and that Bianchi... amazing...
Outstanding video Jon. Your genuine passion shines through, to the extent you even liked the beautiful Bianchi. One of the most gorgeous groups of bikes I have ever seen. One can only admire the detailed workmanship. Perhaps an example of the bicycle as an art form.
*even* the Bianchi! Thanks John!
This is one of the few videos I really like because is pure Quality.
The beauty of these bikes cannot be matched by todays carbon bikes. Nothing even comes close to that Indurain bike, absolutely stunning....
cracking vid Jon - your enthusiasm spilled out in it and left me wanting more vintage bikes. thanks - I think......
Awesome video!!! Been drooling for the past 20+minutes lol. Definitely need some more vids of shops like this!!!đđ
Memories from my cycling youth...
Awesome!, I just can't like enough this video, you've nailed guys!, great job! Thank you!
Unbelievable beautiful bikes....thanks so much for the video!
Having grown up in cycling in the 80s this was a fantastic ride back in history. Thanks Jon!
As someone who started racing in 1986, this is INCREDIBLE to see. I used to spend hours looking through magazines and catalogs at some of these frames and components. Every bike is amazing, I think the winner is that Cinelli Laser road: still one of the best looking frames ever, the Laser blue is incredible, 1st gen C-Record which is bar none the best looking group ever.
Best GCN video ever!
Thank you Jon.
My pleasure
Loved the video, the bikes & your enthusiasm Jon !
I wish i could be half as passionate about something as you are about these bikes. Great video!
This shop is a time machine.
Great show, thank you.
The first thing you see when you enter is OFF COURSE a COLNAGO. Pure love!
As a Ferrari lover, the Colnago C35 with gold detailing hits all the right spot! Praise to you, Jon, for being able to maintain composure in this dream store!!! Absolutely blown away......
Fantastic video! Jon . . . your passion is SO contagious! You' gave my Cinelli Super Corsa a "super nice" a few months ago and it has a pristine early numbered Campagnolo 50th Anniversary groupset fitted. As I've also got the presentation case, full documentation and the rare engraved crankset cover extracting tool, I was so gratified to see you raving over that unused 50th Anniversary set. More videos like this please . . . maybe GCN could add a weekly GCN Retro show to its output? Thanks SO much!
I love your enthusiasm for all things Bike!
What a great video! modern aerobikes are cool, but these old bikes are just a work of art.
I would be just as excited to visit that shop as Jon was. Excellent video!
Jon, what a lovely video this is. Some seriously cool kit, to be sure, but the best thing about it is your obvious passion and wonder for the things you're seeing and the insight into why that is. So much internet 'content' is by-the-numbers stuff - I rarely feel that about anything GCN does, in fairness, but this is of a different order.
