But according to Christina Crawford herself she had to admit it didn't happen. Christine Crawford traveled the talk shows in the 80s and.90s and her own family called her Out.on those accusations. She had to admit that some of the things she wrote including the wire hanger scene were not true.

My mother told me how she remembers as a kid they did a filming with the Crawford's for Christmas. She told how the kids had to give back their gifts and Christina didn't want to give up her doll. Then when Joan was love on TV she said that she saw the jealous look in her eyes when the guy on TV told Joan to call Christian in for everyone to see her!
Because why would she admit that to the public. I mean you don't say something like that. 'Oh I hate my kids.' Anyway I don't believe she hated them. She just didn't really care for them as a parent should. And she felt they betrayed her. Maybe she didn't bond with them as they grew up. Maybe she had NPD and found it hard to love. We don't know.

I think Christina got her clothes back from the drycleaners who used wire hangers and she forgot to switch them out before putting them back in her closet

Don't doubt the book. I grew up with a father who did very similar things to us kids when we were growing up. That era, parents could pretty much get away with a lot of physical abuse and there wasn't much anyone could do about it.
