Excellent walk through. As always Mark. Sounded really good. A little tough to bring home, given the pice they are asking. I love so many different expressions that cost less than this. Still, one day, I hope to try. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Jameson is lucky they have a fan base willing to splash out on Midleton once a year. It is definitely very good whisky but jeez bottle it at at least 43% already like almost all big brand older stuff. I really need to send you a sample set. We will have to exploit CZcamss new duo live streaming feature soon.

Very well presented Mark. I also find this Midleton to be very smooth and extremely complex for the proof. One of the best presentations of an Irish Blended Whiskey.
I have a similar older bottle that I enjoy sparingly. It has Barry Crockett's signature on it.
If I had to spend around $200 today for an Irish Whiskey, it would probably be for a Knappogue Castle 21. 🥃

Thank you Lorenz!! Wowww a pre 2014 bottling!! The club was shocked at its presence and flavour. I think I’ll seek out a bottle of Dair Ghaelach soon as my memory of a dram at local watering hole is so strong.
We just tried Knappogue Castle 12 - very nice! The 21 must be bonkers!!
Cheers my friend Happy St Patrick’s Day!

The Dair Ghaelach is a whole level beyond this. Loooong finish.

I would only add a couple of drops of water, if any. It’s very good out of the bottle.

Thank you Mark for the detailed and entertaining review of this very lovely whiskey. Maybe the nicest blended whiskey had tasted this past several years. I would struggle to buy it as there are so many $200 plus single malts that I would select first, but it is a stunning good 40% whiskey.
    Cheers!🥃🥃🥃🥃

Speaking of Irish whiskey, have you tried the newly released redbreast 27 ..it should available at your MB liquor commission. They hit this one out of the park. They're all amazing, but this one is absolutely incredible. Sampled it among the previous 3 batches blind, batch 4 came out on top between me and 2 friends of mine.

Happy st Patrick’s day. Just finished the whisky weekend 2023 in my home town of Almelo. In the football stadium. Had some interesting whisky’s and spirits. Had the privilege to taste a Ardbeg renaissance. Wonderfully ashy and I was quite surprised with the Peathia heavily peated from Belgium. Not a whisky due to its age. Only six months but a whisky character. Aged in Ardbeg casks. And a dubhghlas new make spirit with a stunning abv of 73,4%. The distillery is situated in Zwolle the Netherlands and a 1,5 hour drive from my hometown. Learned a lot and spoke to interesting people. For the first time thé also sold bottles. What better than the peathia from Belgium 2nd release. Bottled at 62,9%. Only 500 bottles. Furthermore I’ve tasted a special whisky weekend bottle from glen scotia and a van Beek limited from the Netherlands and a few independents for example The ultimate and hart brothers. The dubhghlas will be released soon. So I got a sample. Never had a Middleton in my life. Quite interesting. Thanks for sharing Mark. Slainthe

Sounds amazing Gerrit! Happy St Patrick’s! If you see it at a bar or Friend’s place try the Dair Ghaelach cask strength Irish oak finished Midleton.
The Dubhglas sounds interesting - and wow what a special Ardbeg! Glen Scotia - always amazing. Cheers my friend🥃🥃🥃🥃

@@WhiskyWhistle Thnks mark. Thnks for the tip. Just wrote it down. And yes glen scotia! Never fails. My latest purchase is a glen scotia. Finished on Demerara rum casks. A variation on their ever so popular double cask. Great stuff. Ok let’s find the Middleton. Cheers or in Dutch

    Nice ! ------ if I have a 240$ budget, I will buy (1) Cask Strength Writers Tears/REDBREAST and + vatt with (1) Knapogue 12y or Redbearst -15 ! ! = 2 bottles of 48-51% final abv Irish.

I mean, for a 40% blended whiskey, this has got to be the best I can think of, but you're right that in that price bracket... there's a lot of competition with more oomph

    • @WhiskyWhistle
      @WhiskyWhistle  Před rokem

I guess if even 10% of Jameson lovers buy one bottle in their lifetime, it makes sense, but for price conscious whisky lovers, it is lacking.

Great review, Mark. I could just never justify that price tag for 40 abv. The Barry Crokett on the other hand.... Maybe the best whiskey I've tasted. Cheers Mark 🇨🇦 🥃 . Your Jets better get their asses in gear btw.

    • @WhiskyWhistle

Hi Geoff, side by side, judging them for what they are on smell and taste alone the Midleton is superior, but throw the price into the equation and it’s blue spot every day of the week. Midleton for Christmas maybe.
