    I may be crucified for saying this but I would listen to P.T. 6 days of the week and 3 times on Sunday over Floyd. Anyway, I wanted to say I have not seen a cover or lesson for this song that compares to this one. You did a fantastic job and easy to follow. Thank you so much. Cheers! V

    Dogs + Sheep :)
    And thank you for arguably the best YT tutorial for the capo version of these chords. Can't wait to get the looper pedal out and layer these with the first position versions.

    thank you for your efficient and practical breakdown;) I once was a hardcore Porcupinetree fan and fairly proficient on the guitar and I learned this song in standard tuning without a capo (if I remember correctly). maybe I had a capo like on 2 or something. anyway, the fingering was complex, but also very engaging and I loved the hell out of playing/singing that song!
    Now, having been dormant musically for the last few years, I think im waking up for another round of playing singing and writing~.
    so thank you for the exploded quick analysis of this song!
    peace

    Hey man, great video! Can you help me a little bit? can you tell me how you do the muted strokes at the start of the song. For example, you have the up down up down and then one quick muted stroke and repeat. Im not sure what hand to use, i cant use my paml because its too quick. Please help! thanks.

    Hello...
    Great lesson... Really loved it..
    Well one question I will ask.. And that is from 2:48 during the play through of the broken chords.... I saw you making down picking only...... I mean why not down up... It will become.. More easier for you... To play broken chords....
    Thank you

      Hi,
      thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it :)
      You're right about the picking, it would be much easier to do down and up picking. Sometimes when I record a video, my movements are a bit robotic because I'm nervous and don't want to screw up :-)
      Anyway, thanks for your subscription! There will be more Porcupine Tree in the future :)

      I mute them with the side of my Handpalm (it works for me tho maybe because i have small hands).

    Pleaseeeee someone tell me how to frickin mute the strings like that. I can't sleep bc of this strum pattern😩😢

    • @tensago
      @tensago Před 3 lety +5

      Hey buddy let me help you. grab a thin and flexible pick (im using .75 ) and hold it with your thumb and first and maybe second finger. When i write mute it means to place the side of the palm on the strings.
      The phrase happens in 6 actions of strumming ups and downs and a mute and are all equally spaced with no swing.
      Do this..
      1 DOWN
      2 UP
      3 DOWN
      4 UP
      5 MUTE
      6 UP and
      repeat
      1 has the strongest emphasis as it is the start on each repeat

      @@tensago I have a .46mm pick, i hope it will work, I'm still confused if I should hold it with 1 finger or 2. Also, what should I exactly do with my right hand to mute the strings ?? Please someone help

    • @tensago
      @tensago Před 2 lety

      @@chintansomani1585 I this song, because of the speed, I find I get better results if i mute using my fretting hand (left).
      if you put your fretting hand on the neck in the chord position, but you don't push the strings properly to the fret board then they are all muted. So when I reach step 5 in the above instruction I'm releasing the pressure on the strings at my left hand which mutes the strings then re pushing again for step 6 and so on. I don't think I'm even strumming on step 5, its all about the wait.
