The World's MOST SCENIC $5 Train Ride? (Kandy, Sri Lanka) 🇱🇰

- I left Sri Lanka's capital onboard an observation class train from Colombo Fort Station to Kandy. I had heard good things not only about my destination, but also the journey - regarded by some as the world's most scenic $5 train ride.
Having purchased my ticket in advance on 12go, I ensured a smooth journey riding in the specially customised first class observation carriage. It was my first time on an observation train, and with so many windows to admire the breathtaking scenery, it made for a truly unforgettable journey.
Upon my arrival in Kandy, I was greeted by an honest tuk tuk driver at Kandy station. As we passed the Temple of the Tooth Lake and ascended the hillside towards my hotel, my anticipation grew further.
Having checked in to my hotel (Heaven Seven Hotel Kandy) I was keen to get into the town to explore and gather my first impressions of Kandy, Sri Lanka.
I was also in need of something to eat, and had heard that the KCC mall was the place to go... Alas, the appeal was lost on me, and rather than opting for the more commercial offering, I happened across perhaps the best place to eat in Kandy, in the Kandyan Muslim Hotel where I enjoyed beef samosas, chicken blintze, beef Kabul, Sri Lankan biryani, and even my first Kik Cola, before rounding things off with some milk sweets.

Is Sri Lanka a nicer and more laid back place to visit in South Asia? They certainly don't seem to honk as much as other countries in the region.
Absolutely! The rickshaw drivers are the worst that I have encountered though - constantly interrupting you as you walk down the street. It becomes as unbearable as the horns in the end
the honking thing is lower, less garbage than when compared to india, Sri Lanka is very tropical like Brazil, Thailand

Authorities seriously must take swift action to educate the tuktuk drivers on certain ethics related to the interactions with tourists. They are ruining our reputation as a nation and the good, kind ,caring and hospitable nature of all Sri Lankans are undermined because of the actions of few of these individuals
This is true. It has the potential to do far more harm than good. Sri Lanka is such a beautiful country yet the cold face is the rickshaw driver

@@InvestedAdventure it’s called Lamprais. It’s a savory Dutch Sri Lankan rice dish. Most Sri Lankans restaurants don’t serve the original dish. Try it at Dutch Burgher Union Colombo in its authenticity
It's not a rickshaw, its a three-wheeler. What is meant by rickshaw? What's that?🤔🤔🤔 I've never seen those things in Sri Lanka..

Rickshaw is the three wheeled bicycle which is ridden all over india.

If you want the best scenic train ride travel to ella, and if you wanna taste the best biriyani in kandy go to thalappakatty ask for their mutton biriyani with mutton chukka, you won't regret it❤
