- Belgrade Serbia is one of the most affordable capital cities in all of Europe! This video documents our first visit to Belgrade. We explore the Belgrade Fortress, try traditional Serbian food, visit the St Sava Temple, and learn all about Nikola Tesla at his museum!
Belgrade was once the capital of Yugoslavia but now it's the party capital of Europe. Serbia has had quite a turbulent past, but now has emerged with a vibrant cafe culture, unique architecture, and a lively nightlife. We visited Kalemegdan, Belgrade Fortress, Kneza Mihaila, Republic Square, Temple of Saint Sava, and The Nikola Tesla Museum. Serbian food is so delicious too... but more on that later ;-)
Belgrade Serbia is truly one of a kind!

Tesla was a Serbian. That's why his museum is in Serbian capital.
Don't put Serbian map without Kosovo it's disrespectful...
was just about to write that
Upravu ste slazem se.
because the root of christianity for Serbia and beautiful monasteries with Byzantine architecture like St. Sava you liked so much, that also date back to 9th century are over there... Being destroyed buy brainwashed islamic horde of terrorists...
And arrogant, channeling their government's arrogance.
@@MarkoKraguljac maybe they didn't know let's be nice... Explain them Kosovo is Serbia's Jerusalem..
And map without kosovi is disrespectful to serbs
Most foreigners do not know or do not care about Kosovo, it means nothing to them, it's just a word or some territory. That is only relevant to us. Leave them alone, they are just tourists, they don't care about politics. They flew 5,000 miles to get here. Do you know anything about any place 5,000 miles away?
@@user-ii3eu6xd8hstop copy-pasteing that comment. We cant let that slide, because if we do, there will be more and more people that will be ignorant of that. The fact that they live 5000 miles away does not matter. At the time, Kosovo is the most known thing about Serbia and is the first thing that intetnet warns you about when you look on what things you need to pay attention if you are planning on visiting Serbia. Also, when you google "map of Serbia" the first map that pops up is the map with Kosovo as part of Serbia. They had to specifically chose the map without it.
@@user-ii3eu6xd8h It is not some territory. If it is just a territory we would give that to Albania long time ago. Our Church was founded in Kosovo and Metohia, our most spiritual monasteries are in Kosovo and Metohia, our kings are crowned there, battle against Ottoman Empire 1389 happened. As Vuk Karadzic, founder of modern serbian language said all serbian folk songs about Kosovo, are from Kosovo, they are about people from that area, they are about battle against Ottoman Empire in 1389. When it was uprising against Ottoman occupations did that mainly so we liberate Kosovo from Turks again. They did not care for other regions their main goal was to return to Kosovo one day. So no... It is not just territory. It is literally soul and heart entire nation. Serbia without Kosovo and Metohia is just an empty shell and nothing more.
You missed the crypt in St. Sava! It is splendid.
Isn't it wonderful? I was there for a month last year, then went back for several days last week for some doctor appointments. I didn't want to leave, but I'll go back in the autumn. I'm so glad you've experienced Belgrade! It's one of the coolest cities I have ever visited.
Completely agree!! We didn’t really know what to expect, but we were really amazed! Such an awesome city with so much to see!
Why is it funny or strange that there is a Tesla museum in Belgrade? He is a Serb, genetically and with his whole soul, because he has always emphasized how proud he is of his Serbian origin. In addition, the territory where he was born was the Military Krajina under the rule of Austria-Hungary, but before that it was Serbian territory. Serbia was much bigger and with a richer history than it is presented in the world. After all, you probably know that almost the entire world history is fake...The circumstances were such that he only visited Belgrade for a day and a half, and it is widely known that Tesla did not have time for his private life and pleasures because his greatest passion was science and his work, which he dedicated to the welfare of all humanity...
They didn't mean funny in a derogatory way I think
Tesla also left a will naming Serbia as a sole owner of all his possessions !! American secret service gave what they felt was OK to give and kept much of his work for US to study and understand !!
Those mosaics and the green marble in the church 😍 wow! That is stunning 🙌
Thanks for watching 😊 it was honestly breathtaking in there, we weren’t prepared!!
@@MaxandSidney You did not go under the Temple. Something amazing. The Crypt of the Church of Saint Sava or the Temple of the Holy Great Martyr Prince Lazar is a separate underground temple located under the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade, among its foundations. Something divinely beautiful.
Thank you so much Excellent vidéo.vive la Serbie 🇷🇸 🇷🇸 🇷🇸
Thank you for watching!! So happy to hear you enjoyed it, we really enjoyed our time in Belgrade!
Hi there, hope you had a great time in Belgrade. One thing though - the water from that public fountain in Knez Mihaila Street is not from a 'spring' or 'well' beneath the fountain - it's actually hooked to the City water network, I.e. that's the same water all of us are drinking in our homes. Goes without saying - it's perfectly safe. Cheers!
Ahh okay!! Someone told us it was a spring 😂 that makes more sense! So cool to have that right in the middle of the city!
@@MaxandSidneyNikola Tesla is most responsible for wireless communication and remote control of radio waves but also for many other electrical inventions!!!🇷🇸😏🇷🇸😏🇷🇸🤌 It's not butter in Ćevapi this is a Serbian super cheese "Kajmak" the Best cheese in the world but only domestic made not from factory and supermarkets!!! When we buy Kajmak we go in village in central Serbia, that's real Kajmak!!! You not go in crypt (basement) of saint Sava temple too bad!!!🥺
Dobrodošli ❤❤❤ welcome and enjoy our country
Welcome good people! Enjoy!
Thank you so much! Very happy to be here!
Bright gold colour is because IT IS GOLD
You miss the Crypt in downstairs, which is even better
Great video!
Thanks for visiting and a special thanks for the video
Absolutely! We appreciate you watching the video, we really enjoyed our time in Belgrade!
@@MaxandSidney I am glad you had a good time in Belgrade.
Greetings from a Serbian living in Canada, but come to Serbia once a year.
And just so you know, it is the most safe place to be.. you can walk around all night all around and you will be perfectly safe
We felt very safe the whole time!
All the weaponry in the open at the Military museum are from WW1, except for the Neva launching pad from 1999 that took down the US stealth jet bombarder for the first time in history and proved it was not "invisible".
Practically all public taps (fountains) have potable water. In the cities, towns, villages, parks, by the roads ...
Kosovo and Metohia is an integral part of Serbia temporarily under occupation by the US.
Enjoy Belgrade and Serbia before it gets flooded by tourists and you can visit so many places free of charge. Majority of people sitting in cafes and restaurants are still Serbs.
Dont forget oldest monasteryes and churches are on Kosovo and Metohija(field of blackbird and land of monasteryes)
Dobrodošli u Srbiju! Naš dom je vaš dom... Uživajte u boravku! Nadamo se da ćemo vas videti da probate srpsku hranu.
And you landed on Nikola Tesla Airport, Belgrade. 😅 I have noticed, you missed the Kripta in St Sava church, it is one level below the surface.
I love your reaction on visiting Belgrade, Serbia!❤ Welcome! My suggestion is city of Novi Sad, hometown of the Exit music festival, and so much more! Anyway, thank you for visiting my Serbia! Enjoy! 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
Thank you for watching the video and being so welcoming! We have really enjoyed our visit 😃🇷🇸
@@MaxandSidney And if you are heading to Novi Sad, you can go and visit Subotica near Hungarian border. Lots of Hungarian influence there.
Kosovo is south Serbian province .Everything exept this is very good.🙂You and your girlfrend looks like Serbian.🙂
In Bosnia as well public wells and water taps where you can drink from is quite common. In my street where I live we have a public tap where I have drank water for 20+ years. Never had any issues. It's also tested from time to time.
That is such a wonderful public service to have! We definitely don’t have anything like that but it makes so much sense!
@@MaxandSidney Yeah It's nice, we also have drinkable water in our homes but usually people prefer public water taps or wells because the water from the home tap is treated with chlorine and have a specific taste to it. The wells usually have natural spring water. And there is an abundance of drinkable water in Bosnia.
Smaller towns/villages usually have water wells where anyone can go to fill up water for couple of days. Many also have a well in their garden, and it's a custom that you let strangers use it if they need.
Fun fact. The mosaics are actually gold plated
They were absolutely stunning!
I hope you enjoyed Serbia! Looking forward to the next episode.
Check out 'Niš' and the south region next time you are here (if you haven't already) :)
Thank you so much for watching! We will definitely add Niš to the list, there is so much more we want to see!
Welcome 😊
Thank you!! 🇷🇸❤️
I love it when people acknowledge and appreciate the things I appreciate too! Which is in this case my country and what it has to offer. Glad you enjoyed your time here and you're welcome to come again if you want to visit some more beautiful destinations Serbia has to offer!
Such an excellent video! I also agree the map of Serbia includes Kosovo. The Albanian false state is not officially recognized by the world. Saying it is an independent country is just a bluff by those who want to take away a part of Serbia s territory.
Isn't there direct line Chicago ORD- Beograd NT ? Why via Constantinople ?
Yes, Air Serbia has a direct flight.
Yes, there is a direct flight! We got a very good deal from Turkish Airlines for the connecting flight, but it ended up not being worth it because of the delay 🙁 next time we will take the direct 😂
Welcome ...
Serbia is beautiful country to visit! Vibrant cultural life and rich history. However, to move there and live is a different story. It became very expensive in the last couple years thanks to many rich Russians moving in and paying ridiculous amounts for apartments. Imagine average Serbian salary of 600 euros having to pay 500 just to rent a mediocre apartment which was 200 euros two years ago.
Prosečna plata je 750 e
@@stevasteva4982 Ok. Even if you make 750 a month and pay 500 for rent plus 100 for bills you have 150 left for food which is more expensive than in Germany.
Impossible to live unless you own an apartment!
Yes 10% is i guess standard for tips here, but it's all individual, when i go alone and only drink coffee or one drink i can leave around 5%, but if i go for lunch with more people i can give 15-20% if it was a really good service.
Crypt of the Saint Sava Temple is also impressive, too bad you missed it, stairs are on the left from the main entrance.
Nikola Tesla museum will be moved to a new bigger building in the next 2-3 years, they are doing project documentation and we will see construction works soon. It is old factory building near Belgrade Fair.
Thanks for the info! We are definitely sad we missed the crypt, we will have to come back! We are interested to see the larger version of the Tesla museum, it was a great experience even in the smaller building!
@@MaxandSidney They have many things in depot that they can't display now because of space, Tesla cousin inherited all his belongings and brought it from US to Belgrade after he died. Current building has around 200 m2 of space (it is pre-ww2 villa, it was never planned to be used for museum) and new one will have 4000 m2. I think new one will also have replica of Wanderclyffe tower.
Thank you for each nice word abut Serbian culture and yes we have sose for chevapi it is caled Kaymak if you are alergic to milk Produkte then ask for ayvar. You will bee surprised....
We tried the kaymak the next day, really enjoyed it! Definitely a nice addition to the ćevapi 😋
It is dinar not dinner :)
Ahhh 😁
You pronounced “Dinar” right the first time, not “Dinner”!! You just need to roll your “r” a little at the of “Dinar”.
Haha, we struggled with several pronunciations it sounds like 😂 thanks for watching our video!
BRAVO!! You should visit Zemun, it is the best place for turists, great restaurants, food, muzic, people,,,
Thanks for checking out the video!! We will add Zemun to the list! Definitely hoping to see other areas of the city!
@@MaxandSidney You can go to Ada CIganlija, its beach where people go to swim or get sun, there are also lot off sports courts there ,you get rent a bike there and drove all across ,Kosutnjak is forest in city with lot off hiking trails ,MOunt Avala is weekend escape place from you can see whole Belgrade and surroundings from Avala tower ,Belgrade waterfront is nice for evening walks etc

Just match that letters and it is correct pron.
06:31 Hmmmmm. Not 100% correct.
06:33 Correct, but different accent.
Sorry, i am to mutch borring with DINAR pron.
Btw.
That cofee is over expensive. It is 350 dinars just for one cofee, 2,8 us dollars.
You will find mutch cheeper cofee in the city center but equally good like that is. 200 dinars or something like that.
07:18 Yap: Electricity, light, WI-FI, mobile phones. Everything is legacy of Nikola Tesla. Thomas Edison is just a good businessman.
Thanks for the info! We struggled with a lot of the pronunciations 😂 so happy to visit Serbia, everyone has been very welcoming and helpful! We appreciate you watching our video!
There is a crypt under Saint Sava temple it's really beautiful in case you've missed :)
You missed seeing the crypt in the St Save church.
The St. Sava "building" is more of a temple than a church. Hram = Temple, Crkva = Church
Kosova është Serbi!
👍👍
Thanks for watching!
guarana is just an energy drink, and that is nikola's theme is not his signature drink, guarana tastes just like any other energy drink like you said for example red bull.
also basketball was always big in Serbia and way before Jokic was a thing, ever since Vlade Divac who played for Lakers we had players in the NBA. so Jokic is definitely not the only player in the NBA. Jokic is just the best.
Anyways nice video
More precisely, 33 Serbian basketball players have played or are currently playing in the NBA...
@@vesnavasanta8417 that's right, i think we have 6-7 players at the moment playing in NBA, which is some of the highest from any country outside of the USA
You are speaking like we are starting to be big in basketball. You should try to look the history of the basketball and check that Serbia was big then too.
🇷🇸❤️

Why there Is a serbian flag without Kosovo??? Please don't do that. Don't ever do that. By the way you are great.
You mean Serbian map? Most foreigners do not know or do not care about Kosovo, it means nothing to them, it's just a word or some territory. That is only relevant to us. Leave them alone, they are just tourists, they don't care about politics. They flew 5,000 miles to get here. Do you know anything about any place 5,000 miles away?
@@user-ii3eu6xd8h Yes, I wrote flag instead of map, sorry. Hey, there Is nonhate in my coment. That was just a note, nothing more. In the end I wrote that they are great. And, by the way, when you are in some country it Is completely normal to know what Is right and what Is wrong there
PSA, that coffee prices at Drip are INSANE.. Average price for good espresso with milk is 150-200 RSD (1.4$-2$)
Good video.
If you like Serbian food, I suggest you go to Niš (south of Serbia).
The food in Niš and some other cities (Pirot, Leskovac) in the south is the best in Serbia.
LoL the public fountain ⛲ water is supplied by the water from the municipal water supply
Correct pronunciation of "Dinar" is WITH "a" , never heard of that "Dinr-Dinner" thing, and I live in Serbia my whole life
Its not gold colour its actually gold
Kosovo is Serbia.
It is actually dinar, not dinner 😉
Please: don't wear shorts to the sanctuary!
serbia is first
6:31 it is dinAr tho :D
Kosovo and Metohia is Serbia 🇷🇸☦️🇷🇸
you not be in cript below in saint sava
What a robbery that coffe place was. 430rsd for a coffe wtf
By the UN resolution 12/44 Kosovo is unseparated part of Serbia. But still you represent opinion of one warmongering military alliance leaded b the US .
Stopped watching as soon as I saw the fake flag of Serbia.
You can cut on map your country, not mine.Kosovo and Metohija is ocupied part of Serbia. If you didnt know,it is ocupied by your country,by your army.It is nice that you came in Serbia, but you shouldnt put on map without KiM.
Kosovo is missing from your map of Serbia..? Kosovo is the heart of Serbia!
You flew 5000 miles to make the same exact video everyone makes.
Kosovo is Serbia ❤❤❤
Wrong map because Kosovo is Serbia!!!
Welcome bro
Thank you very much!

First, Edison didn't invent the light bulb. Sorry. It is not Tesla's invention also. The same Marconi didn't invent radio transmission, he stole that from Tesla. Tesla won on the court, but Marconi got the Nobel prize for stealing. Second, the Guarana drink is RED BUL, it is an energetic drink, so it doesn't need to be tasty, it is full of caffeine, enough to kill an elephant.
You really know how to use the camera. GOOD JOB. Nice angles, nice shots. You made the best shots in the Temple of Saint Sava, it is in the top 10 I've ever seen.
Visit Nkola Tesla museum in Croatia.....in Serbia ist the Fake museum...
Hajde ustašo oladi. ""If you got a slave master or [Ku Klux] Klan in your blood, blacks can sense that," he was quoted as saying. "That stuff lingers to this day. Just like Jews can sense Nazi blood and the Serbs can sense Croatian blood." Bob Dylan
Hahahaha, you are funny.
Nije bolest sve sto boli..
While there, in Croatia, go to Smiljane, Nikola 's home town, and check out how all those Tesla's Serbian relatives were slathered by Croatian, Ustashas, in WW2.. guess Nikola would be killed too back in those days but, luckily for him, he was already in the USA..
It is so "fake" that the Croatian Nazi Ustasha literally slaughtered Tesla's entire extended family during WW2 just because they were Serbs.
Did Biden draw this map? It's a bit demented.
