The Camilla affair was known before the tapes. In an article it was stated that even on Diana and Charles honeymoon, Charles just read a stack of books instead of showing Diana any interest. So, it was not breaking news in recent years. The Queen tolerated the affair until Diana revealed her side of the story in an interview. She ordered Charles and Diana to divorce after she did the interview. I always felt she deserved more support from anyone in the family, although she continued to have the citizens love and support of the English and Commonwealth citizens!

As recently as the 1960s, state homes and psychiatric hospitals where essentially warehouses for people that society didn't know what to do with. The advent of psychiatric medications changed that. Some of the pronunciation is deplorable. @7.53 “Gloucester” is pronounced ‘glosster’ not ‘glouchester’.
It was not against the law for Edward VIII to marry Wallis Simpson. The problem was The Church of England and the Government opposed it. At the time there was nothing in the Royal Marriages Act that forbade it. But had Edward proceeded against the advice of the Prime Minister, it was likely to force the resignation of the government and ignite a constitutional crisis.

I have no respect for Charles. He is dimwitted and does all things for himself. Even his ongoing romance with Camilla was quite hurtful to Diana. Harry didn't turn out very well at all, and yet he was the parent in charge. Hmmmm.
harry has his issues but at least he hes loyal to his wife and doesnt abuse her like his father did to diana. i think most of harrys issues is he had to grow up around his fathers abuse and affair and due to their inability to acknowledge mental health issues (the royal family has often disregarded mental health issues even in their own direct family} i highly doubt harry ever really coped with his mothers death correctly and because of it has his own deep seeded trauma he was never given the resources to work out like me or you or any other non royal family members have done (therapy, medication, strong support systems) they may be rich and lavish in lifestyle but they sorely lack in other basic human things due to YEARS of shut in and isolated upbringings. the queen herself struggled for YEARS to convert to more modern times and often found a lot of challenges in terms of staying "relevent" to a lot of things me or you are used to
