    I get a chill down my spine whenever I watch this. One of the most beautiful projects ever created for a Disney park. Back when the company didn't feel like they needed to dumb everything down to a kid's level. Which is ironic, because I loved this film as a kid!

      First thing I noticed is the accent grave in "impressions", a bad typo on the opening credits. I think that in the ballon Montgolfière scene, as the balloons are fired up, I thought i heard "putain", in the back ground, a cuss word in French. All in all it was great for scenery, especially the vignobles, scenes from Brittany, and Normandy, as well as Cannes.

      It's going away some day. Judging by the crowds for this compared to the Beauty and the Beast Sing Along, people obviously want less original productions and more IP. It's sad really.

    One of the Epcot staples for me. I of course didn't have the appreciation for it growing up that I do now, especially having been to France and seen many of the locations filmed. I often wonder if Epcot spurred by love for European travel. Saint-Saens' organ symphony is one of my favorite pieces of classical music. I included it in one of my European travel videos on my channel showing footage of the Matterhorn. Thanks for sharing!

    • @eurodoc6343
      @eurodoc6343 Před 4 lety +2

      Yup, that was much of the intent of the old World Showcase. Give you a little sample so that you would be enticed to visit the real thing (worked like a charm for me!). Too bad now it's just a lot of dumbed-down food and IP promotion. I wonder, what entertainment now even exists to inspire today's kids in a similar manner?

    It was this film, which I saw countless times in my 15 years working at WDW, that made me fall in love with the Romantic period of French composers. Debussy is still my favorite.

    Thank you so very much for posting this. This is by far our favorite attraction at Walt Disney World. It has beautiful music, stunning scenery, comfortable seats and A/C. This was the one attraction we visited every time we were there. We have not been back since we let our annual passes expire in 2016 but used to go at least once a month when we lived in Jacksonville. So, 19 years times a minimum of 12 trips a year adds up to a lot of views. Needless to say, watching this was like seeing an old friend once again.

    Liz .... I am so overwhelmed I have found this work of art.
    I remember going to Epcot 35 years ago. Every day I would go and see this wonderful footage of France with the most powerful music.
    Even the staff began to recognise me and smile.
    I just loved it so much.
    Went back eight years later and did the same again.
    France must be so proud of this video. I can view this over and over again xx I simply love it xx

    I can’t imagine what WDW manager thought replacing Impressions, the longest running original film in WDW, in a theater with a sound system that engineers have called the best in any Disney park, with what’s basically a karaoke bar for eight-year-old girls, was a good idea. Hopefully this will be a short-lived aberration, but I’m afraid the IP monster is bent on edging out all that’s unique about Epcot. I wonder what the French think about the superficial sing-along representing their nation?

    • @william-uk
      @william-uk Před 3 lety +2

      At a minimum, they ought to use the French title (La Belle et la Bête) - and if it were up to me, I'd also make the eight-year-olds sing along in French. The other thing that disappointed me in other videos is that, despite the attention to detail with paintings, portraits etc. beside the river, the librairie store apparently doesn't sell any books at all.

    When I visited this, they did not have a way to purchase the music, but they gave me a written playlist naming all the musical pieces and the composers - all of whom were French. I’ve lost the playlist, but would love to find one and get the original (complete) music from each selection used in this video.

    I'm sorry but calling something a "remaster" means you have had access to an original "master" version of the film and have taken it and restored it. This is not a remaster. This is a video camera capturing the film as it is projected in the theater. And only three of the five screens at that... with two entire screens missing! 🤦🏻‍♂️🙄😑

      It's not Beauty and the Beast, seeing as this was produced in the 1980's and Beauty and the Beast came out in 1991. I assume you're referring to that first song, it's "Aquarium" from The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns.
