    Ngayon ko lng napanuod ito. Mas weak sa short side ng building sa lateral movement dahil sa posisyon ng shear wall. Dapat magkaroon din ng structural analysis ang short side for assurance.

    sir why on the last part at SW3, you didn't divided the Vb3 by 6 just like Vb2?

    Sa real-world, pinagsasama po ba ang effect ng wind at earthquake sa pagde-design ng shear walls? Although slim chance na magkasabay sila.

    Sir thank you po sa na share nyo na tutorial regarding shear wall, may question lang po ako, pwede po ba sa isang building na Dina mag lagay ng column ang beams kung shear wall ang gagamitin sa buong building( exterior and interior walls)?

      Columns and shearwalls are both considered vertical elements. They have different functions and purposes. For me it would be better if both of these two elements are present in a structural framing system. Thanks

    mga sir kapag po ba ang shearwall is core type pareho lang din po ng process dito
    yung lw po kabuuan na length lang core shear wall, may boundary element po kasi

    Ang vertical bars po dapat ay ginagamit to resist axial force and bending moment while the horizontal bars are used to resist shear forces. Like sa column, di mo naman idedesign sir ang vertical bars base sa shear force. Bakit mo gagamitin sir ang vertical bars to resist Vnet?

      You have a point. But columns are point vertical element, that is why vertical bars are solely designed to resist vertical and occasional bending loads.
      Shearwall is multi task plane element, it is vertical because it is designed to resist both horizontal and vertical forces. Therefore, both bar direction direction should be designed in shear and axial. Thank you for your comment

      Applicable to concrete and steel:
      1.2D+1.6L
      1.2D+1.0W+0.5Lr
      1.2D+1.0E+0.5Lr
      0.9D+1.0W
      0.9D+1.0E
      There is more it depends on your lateral condition such as presence of soil or water pressure.

      Yes ofcourse pwede yan sa resi. Although naging tradition yan sa high rise because of elevator and staircase.

    New subscriber. If my base concrete structure until Retail L3 is seismic, can I have my upper frame in steel frame designed as static only since my below structure is already seismic?
    Or should I still design it in dynamic? Thank you

      It is possible. But you need to treat your connection of steel to concrete as pinned. That means these connections dont resist moment. Thanks

      @@cebutravels Whether Dynamic or Static analysys is depend on the designer.
      What is important is you assign design base shear on that level separating concrete and steel.

    Sir saan po ba kayo naka base, gusto ko po sana mag consult sa inyo personally regarging construction of 5 - storey residential building, gusto po kasi shear wall lahat ang gagamitin ko sa construction.

    Sir tanong ko lang sa structural design nieed ba talaga yung both wind load at earthquake load e combine sa buildings? Pwede rin ba earthquake load nalang at e neglect yung wind load?

      As much as possible we need to plug-in both lateral loads so we can use all the load combination from the code. Kung minsan hindi naman nag go govern especially on low rise structure but that is ok. Thanks

      Need to check both load combination..mostly sa mga high rise 60 floor and up..wind load ma nag-go govern..

      Normally sa low rise building hindi kailangan, kung meron elevator core pwede mo gamitin as shearwall (dual function). Thanks

      Correct, but it still good to know the basic in case you are in doubt if the computer is giving us the right output
      That is why there is engineer, because they knew the theory and not fully dependent on softwares
      Anyone can use a computer even not engineers, but if we plug a wrong data we'll definitely get a wrong answer. Thanks
