    Hi sir, I hope you can post calculation examples of solid concrete roof flat slab (no beam) cantilever. This kind of computation is very rare or does not exist in some class examples compared to the common cantilever slab with beam which is always being used in classes.

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633
      @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633  Před 2 lety

      I suggest, chip-off small portion of beam to expose top bars. Then install L-shape rebar studs spaced at 600mm x 100mm deep (min) by drilling and fill-up the gap between hole and rebar with epoxy. Avoid creating huge vibration use small drilling machine. You don't need to chip off the entire length just the portion of studs but roughen the entire top surface of beam to achieve better adhesion with new concrete. Put adequate support beneath the existing beam while performing the task. I hope that helps

    Is there a way in your method sir to check for deflection (serviceability) and for shear capacity? As i see from your calculation, you only consider flexure.

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633
      @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633  Před 2 lety

      Yes, you can always check against deflection. It depends on architectural limitation that is why I dont normally show it in presentation but for building permit application we need to include all required parameters. Thanks

    what is the criteria of using fy of 275 Mpa & fy 400 MPa. When are we going to use these stresses. Because as I saw your computations , you used 275 for slab reinf and you used 400MPA for column reinforcement. I know that is dependable of the steel grade. But when can we use those grades.

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633
      @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633  Před 2 lety +1

      For me it all depends on the designer there is no criteria. Basically if you use 275 it will require more number of rebars than 400 right? But I suggest 400 is better on tight spaces such as walls and columns because we need less rebars to avoid congestions. In relevance, matching concrete-rebar is also an ideal factor, ex. for fc21 should match with 276, for fc28 or above use use 400. Hope that helps

    Good eve po sir. Ask lng po ako. hindi po ba applicable yung formula ng thickness of slab na t= (s+l)2/180 sa two way slab ? and ano po basis nyo sa t is 145mm sir ? gusto ko po mlaman pano nyo na decide po yun . pwede din po ba iba yung thickness ko sa one or two slab same floor lng sila.

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633
      @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633  Před 2 lety

      tama yung preliminary calculation mo t=(s+l)2/180 yan din ginagamit ko but you need to add concrete cover say20mm clear plus yung centre ng rebar 6mm. But you need to anticipate if there is in need of 2 layer bars (top & bottom) clear space between them say 50mm check mo kung papasok yung prelim calculation

  • @borisjoshuateodoro1601

    Engr, Idol ask ko lang po.... yung sa case 3 natin,, since may beam pa naman siya dun sa discontinuous edge, and hindi naman considered cantilever,,, bakit di na po tayo nagkabit ng topbars sa discontinuous edge?

  • @allyce06

    Pag beam or column design ang L clear span Lclear/4 bakit po pag slab L from center of beam support?

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633
      @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633  Před 2 lety

      Actually it should be L/4 whether beam, slab , or column. We only care about clear height on columns to check its slenderness.
      Strictly speaking its not always L/4, we should figureout stress diagram from analysis if you really want the exact value
      Bu to me there is no big issue about it

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633

      If elevation difference is equal to or more than it's thickness that is considered as discontinuous. However, if the split in elevation is equal to it's thickness there should have enough overlap between 2 slab panels to accommodate rebar hook or rebar termination. Thanks
