    ADIDAS ADIZERO SL - DAILY RUNNING SHOE OF ADIZERO RANGE OR A TOTAL BRICK? - EDDBUD
    An initial review of the recently released ADIDAS ADIZERO SL.
    A shoe i grabbed from ADIDAS on a discount and i somewhat regretted my purchase!
    The adidas SL is very confused. It is not all that light, not all that cushioned and doesn't really fit its intended purpose as a daily running shoe. Its not patch on the original sl20 from 2020 and the adios 6/7 make a better bargain offering than this weirdly firm photocopy of a shoe.
    I comment on the upper, midsole and outsole after my initial runs.

    Yes the midsole is firm and it runs a bit narrow. But for $48 on sale at Adidas with an additional coupon I went for it. I bought two pairs in day glow orange and 1\2 size up. I use them for casual wear and I'm quite happy with them at that price.

    I haven't tried these yet, but my impression from looking at them and hearing the specs is that this is an SL20.3 with a soupçon of Lightstrike Pro. Honestly, that sounds quite good to me, as I find the SL20.3 to be an excellent (albeit not exactly exciting) daily grinder. Lightstrike definitely softens up after 25 miles or so, at least that's been my experience with the 20.3.

    I completely disagree with this review I felt the adios 7 cramped and the material was bad, the SL feel awesome when running very comfortable the upper was great the sole was a bit firmer than the 7 but not a huge difference, the 7 hasn’t been a pleasant run, the SL from day one felt awesome, moral of the story every foot is different so can’t go exactly by what every reviewer thinks is good, better find out return policy and if you can return the shoe try it out, if doesn’t work for you return them.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  Před rokem +2

      Terrible shoe and has been heavily discounted in the uk. You can pick them up for next to nothing here.

    • @ortegaray5
      @ortegaray5 Před rokem +3

      That’s why I said every foot is different I bought both the Adizero SL and 7 and had different experiences than yours, both shoes are heavily discounted as well piaid 60 for the SL and 70 for the the 7, and found the SL more pleasant, overall I have to run more in the 7 to see if it gets better over time and I’m not complaining about the sole of the 7 that was nice it was the upper material that I have found very bad it kept digging into my toes and found that very uncomfortable, but great reviews and if this shoe was uncomfortable for most I must have different feet, but that’s ok that’s why variety exists. But awesome videos might not agree all the time but still enjoy your videos.

    With the lack of a Conti outside and middling midsole, this strikes me as a discount store running shoe like the Questar and Duramo, and on that end of the lineup, I sort of understand it. Does this means that Adidas is likely killing off their SL20 model? The Adizero SL does bear some striking similarities with the first iteration of the SL20, with the biggest change here being Lightstrike Pro foam throughout the midsole instead of the combo that Adios 6 & 7 had.

    Similar thoughts in my review. Shallow toe box like the Peg 37 which was crushing my toes a bit and I felt it fitted half a size shorter for me than the Adios 7 or Boston 11 due to the extra heel padding but the exact same insoles so throwing me forward into the shallow toe box. Great! As such it wasn't a particularly "pleasant" 8 mile easyish run. Could only feel the sliver of Lightstrike Pro doing a few strides. I don't mind a firmish shoe (in fact I haven't used the Invincible much of late as find it too soft) but got to fit properly. A 14.5 would be boat like am sure! So I felt it is essentially a cheaper and lighter Boston 11 but even despite the extra weight I prefer the Boston 11 and that is hardly my favourite shoe! I think the general aim was to put in a budget shoe into the range and if the RRP was the £71 we both paid for it then it would be as perhaps then we could get it for £50. That's about all it is worth I feel and not sure I actually I have a shoe I can run in or want to. Not sure adidas take back shoes you have worn. I'll probably give it another few goes. On my comments there was a good observation that this Lightstrike (OK that's be straight - cheap EVA) is softer in warmer weather so great move adidas bringing out a near brick in December!

      @@EDDBUD It did wonder if they gave the project to some trainees and did no wear testing! I thought adidas had solved their former woes of making adizero shoes far too short but sadly back to type. I also noted it is not Continental rubber - well no mention of it. Presume that helps with reduce costs a bit. But if we think Nike make "bad" cheap shoes, looks like we can say the same about adidas here. And I hear an Adistar 2 is on the way. Nay for me there :)

    Overall I have personally found that I'm quite unpleased with the standard Lightstrike material as it's simply too firm. Lightstrike Pro is pretty great, however. The SL is a disappointing shoe, honestly. It doesn't fit well and doesn't feel great on the feet. This was a letdown, as was the Adistar and the Repetitor foam. My only Adizero shoe is from a few years ago, the Adizero Prime knit with the アディゼロ・プライム logo on the shoes (katakana, I think?).
    It's their thinnest Boost midsole, with the Continental stretch weave outsole. Very lightweight and I can usually manage only short sessions on the school track or smooth pavement wearing these (although I did 10 miles once, and wouldn't repeat that experience in this shoe).
    Seems like Adizero means nothing now, other than the Takumi Sen.

    I got a pair delivered yesterday and took out for 7 miles last night. The shoe is not terrible but it definitely does not belong in the Adizero range and does just justify the RRP of £110. The shoe is very firm with the huge wedge of Lightstrike in the heel. The forefoot is a little softer with the Lightstrike Pro hidden away within the midsole but is still too stiff for my liking.
    In my opinion the Adizero SL is overpriced and there are significantly better shoes on the market at similar price points.
