French Ex-president Sarkozy loves them! Heard Tom Cruise is also fond... 😉
Kipchoge didn't break the record, because it wasn't in an official race and the pacers were able to jump in and weren't there from the start, also the shoes were already banned, it just didn't matter since Ineos and Eliud weren't trying to beat a record, but only trying to show that it's possible.
nerd? aren't you?
yeah! but he has run the fastest marathon..no-one else has done that no matter how they try!!!
Didn’t have those shoes

I am just an average older casual runner--no races at all-- and I love these types of shoes because it really takes the discomfort out of running for me. All the cushion really protects my feet, joints, hips, and back. Plus I love the gentle kick of the plate... it's like using fins when swimming... it's FUN being fast (er)!
unatural
you wear shoes which end up being liek $5 per k for casual running?
@@f1tzy_469 I'm genuinely curious about your math here. Is there something about this particular shoe that is less durable than your average running shoe? Usually, you get 300-500 miles (roughly 480-800 kilometers) out of a pair of shoes. So, that's somewhere between 37 and 62 cents per k. It's still expensive, but I could actually see an enthusiast paying that.
@@f1tzy_469I don't run but I would buy this shoes
@@kevink6741 take that versus cost of knee surgery and or cost of obesity and those shoes are a bargain.
also.. it's unnatural to run on asphalt
MILITARY PT TEST. Every soldier, marine, sailor, and airman will be buying this shoe to shave off 30 seconds off their running time.
How do you know, I am actually looking at this for my upcoming pt test in March lol.
@@NamNguyen-fq9jhbruh my pt test is in March 😂
...oh how right you are. About to buy these soon for ALC haha

lmao i was just thinking that
That 'strung' upper material looks fire. I wonder how it feels
I really like how you take forever to get to the point. Thanks!
Congratulations on your 500k subscribers, bro!🥳🥳🥳
I had no idea shoes could be so good they’re illegal.
I like your channel cause you review all kind of shoes and not just nike and jordans like other sneakers channel
The shoes at the start of the video were never banned. They are the Alphafly Next% and are within the limits imposed by the world athletics federation.
Exactly. Also the reason why it looks bigger then most Alphafly's smaller runners use is because although kipchoge is small at 169 cm, he has 10.5s size feet. So his stack height is taller then allowed on the test model.
@davidh5429 I've got Vaporfly Next% in size of US13 and stack isn't much higher than US9 maximum 40mm.
@@19Kamau79 Switch to an Alphafly and be amazed. They didn't yet go crazy with the Vaporfly. If you buy the Alphafly, the stack increase is.. redonkulous if that's even a word.
@@19Kamau79 It is measured in a specific size, larger sizes are allowed to go over 40mm. Smaller will be less.
@ChristianRunsNY yes I know just larger size as US13 and specially US10.5 will not exceed 50mm, not even close.
Good staff Elliot keep doing the good work
I got my first pair of Adidas running shoes when I was in 6th grade in 1967 and have mostly worn running shoes ever since. I don't care if the shoe is banned from competitions. The last time I was in a running race was an inter-company sports competition out at the YMCA camp and they made me to be the runner - in the late 1980s. I use running shoes for day to day life, but I would also like a nice pair of running shoes for when I go running for exercise in my neighborhood. If these shoes are super comfortable, fun to use, and durable, that is what is important to me.
Is this a new camera looks amazing
new idea for shoe the upper is very fin for brethability and good lock down the mid sole is 70 cm height and has 5 carbon fiber plates in it and uses new balance fuel cell technology
Same Rules exist for Trail Running top body on stack height and now how deep the lugs are as well as how deep the spikes/slip-on spikes pr cleats/slip on metal cleats are due to some runners modifying the slip-on spikes that use replicable pin spikes for ice with massive spikes in the form of nails that are over the length of a track and field javelin spike. The other rules are how deep the built in lugs can be, no longer then what a javelin spike size is and then the runner could not use any spikes on the shoe. This came as Innov-8 they had a pair of running shoes with rubber USA/Canada football cleats on them for some trail running/fell running events and then some elite runners using in shorter trail events spikes that are used by javelin throwers on beefier models of cross country shoes.
The shirt you’re wearing in this episode where did you get it
I'd love for them to make a shoe that actually fits me, ever since i switched to barefoot style shoes these "regular" shoes are just way too narrow for me. It's actually kinda scary to see how constricted my feet were by those shoes before
Yeah, just run un running shoes and go barefoot for everything else is what I do. I just want the shock absorption from running shoes because you only get 1 set of knees.
@@grey5135 Barefoot running promotes good form and thus in theory should lead to less knee injuries, as opposed to shoes which allow for heal striking and overstriding.
Running inherently isn't a bad sport for your knees, as your entire legs and back help absorb the shock. It is only when you overstride that you put too much load on your knees.
Plus, like anything new, if you start of barefoot, you need to take it slow because you will run different and engage muscle groups that haven't been used ever (anything related to feet muscles).
I tried some Adidas recently and felt they were very narrow.
Yea, traditional shoes are actually...stupid and I'll never wear another pair again.
@sloesty you're forgetting that we aren't actually built to run on concrete and asphalt. Those surfaces will wreck your knees and feet.
Now that the Alphafly 3’s are out, which are better? These, or alphafly 3?
these are awesome I bought them and they are wonderfully comfortable to run in I am just starting I used to run 5 km-6km a da I am just starting again slowly to build up again at only 2.5km .. I am heavier right now than I was but starting now and building up towards the summer I should be in shape for running in a few months.
Is this upper breathable ? I like Primeknit but this upper does not seem to stretch so...
will you recommend these shoe for walking over ultraboost? thanks
The heel of the sole on the outside of the shoe appears to be shorter in height than the inside heel. It looks like when you're stepping your ankle is rolling inward. I think I'd for sure roll an ankle on that.
Such a good video, really enjoyed it, thank you. Will be back for more :)
The first version of the Strung 2 was lighter, until Nike made them change the prototype because it was too similar to their Alphafly. The version of the Strung 2 that Adidas is selling today is as heavy as a brick. It might feel nice for the first mile or two, but the weight will be felt after that.
The Boston 12 is basically the daily trainer based on these or so I'm told, minus the carbon plates, they have nylon rods instead
love the vids
I have nike invisible3 and adidas ultraboost light, they both my lovely
We need lifestyle versions of the super marathon sneakers.
Can You do a review of of a better supershoe called " Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 3 "?
I don’t get why shoes are illegal. Unless they make you literally fly, which won’t be long. But come on….
Because its unfair in a race.
if pillows below the (lifestyle) shoe are more comfortable, why it so relieving to take them off? I found out the less cushioning the more comfortable. for running they make sense, for walking not.
Kipchoge's shoes were never banned, at all. We can all use them today. This is very untrue. The only reason it wasn't a WR was it wasn't a sanctioned race.
Also, Adidas PrimeX has always been "illegal". He likely knew it wasn't going to be a valid time. Everyone knew 50mm was too much stack..
Lmaooooo, this dude could have won the marathon barefooted. HE'S the GOAT!!°
Atleast I’m able to wear these in high school races and my local town race Lmao
I have prime x strung and they are amazing for long runs
Funny this tall outsoule is getting taller and taller. Even local running shoemaker in Indonesia, called as Ortuseight, already produced such kind lf shoe for the past 2 years. And the sole quality almost on par with new balance, nike etc, wide toe type, and way cheaper. Neat!
The hoka effect
No plate I think but, I think the "HYPERBLAST ENCORE ELECTRICITY
Electricity" look good. I don't seem to be able to order them in Japan though.
@@nihonbunka they have 1 product that has plate. Whil others no plate to keep attracting mid low customer, focusing on bouncy mid and outsolr
I have the prime x , they are very good , carbon rods and a plate too . The design error is that the plate is close to the food and you CAN feel it as you run , so kind of defeats the comfort its built for . In my pair i put some gel heals ( £3 so no biggey) and this actually cures the plate hitting foot problem , although now technically mine are 52 mm stack 🤣🤣 i do get some fast runs from it 👍
Does adding gel pad make the shoe tighter? Should I get 1/2 bigger and wide since I’m flat footed
No , the gel pad is fine , not only are they only cheap but can help . They do not make the shoe tighter @@user-cp3jq2lu2u
No , the gel heel pad stops the plate hitting your heel but the shoe fits exactly the same . 👍@@user-cp3jq2lu2u
I think that in marathons the main thing is the endurance and not some shoes... if they see issue in that then just give all competitors same shoes, clothes etc..
I notice that there was a bunch of runners hot on his heels in that marathon finish. Can’t be all on the same shoes.
The illegal bricks 😩🔥
They should of swapped soles of this and the other colourway
Serious question. I love your shirt. Where’d you get it??
Please respond 🥲
Even if you can't wear the shoes during races, you can still turn on Strava and rack up some wild stats
Day 32 of asking Elliot to review the Nike P-6000 🙏
It's made for the Army ACFT running phase of the test. Lol.
i remember my first pair of Lebron Xs (volt colorway) had those pods/air unit throughout entire sole.. i was so blownaway with the comfort and responsiveness of the shoe. Felt like it was giving me an extra push
Like running on a trampoline. It changes the entire sport.
How do you deny the power of a talented athlete and give credit to a shoe?
Yeah, I dont care what the shoe is, the guy ran sub 2hr. That's incredible.
Do the runners that were behind Kipchoge run the full marathon? If so, they are both fresh and fast.
No, there were different teams of drafters who each did 5k or something in an aero diamond shape around him. When the first team got tired the next came in etc.
I love how they take a technology that has made basketballs and all sorts of balls for decades - advance that tech and boom “strung”
Are these the same as the adizero Boston 12?
bro
These new shoes on pro competition will be legal when everyone can have it so someone don’t have an advantage. Also maybe have a set of records with asterisk.
can regulaur consumers buy these it looks super comfortable
The shoes look pretty tight, They should just get rid of the 3 stripes.
yeah but he is still the best marathoner in the world by a mile and people say that he does not deserve but he does
His official record has been beaten by Kiptum lately, so most consistent yes but not the fastest anymore
Doesn't everyone have access to this shoe? It's part of the evolution of the running shoe.
I don’t think wearing carbon-plated shoes for lifestyle is good for your feet. 😅
Been happening for decades. Everyone wearing a Jordan retro starting with the 11 is also doing just that.
Why not?
Jordan 11 feels fine
It helps a lot with stability, without it, walking would feel to squish. Its more a question of fit. Fx. Walking in the alphaflys isnt comfortable at all because the heel is to squishy, thats the normal gait patern, to heel strike, and its made for mid/forefoot strike. Others super shoes seems fine, like the vaporfly, and a like, asics or new balance for reference.
Many boots have metal or wooden shims to support your foot.
Goona do my 1st run in adizero pro 3 tomorrow
These were a decoy for evo1s
I think it's like electric bikes. You go further and faster (or on a constant speed). Same like e-bike.
Imagine shoes being that good so they get banned, insane
I need those shoes in my life
300 for that? Either Yeezys or that
I wear steel toed work boots when I run races. That's the most you'll get me to admit to.
where is your shirt from?
Bruh im literally preparing for my PT XD
Roller shoes are the way to go.
these shoes feel much better than the alphafly 3s, I don´t know what influencers have smoked bashing these shoes
You can count on a sneakerhead who hasn’t spent long hours running to do the reporting
Any basketball shoe with this tech?
I have both and the 1st version is 10 times better
The platform is wider but the shoe itself is tighter and more narrow.
Tge two carbon plates are cool in concept but doesnt work as the shoe is so stiff there is major heel slippage no matter how tigh you tie them down. The lacing system is awful and gives very little lockdown and the laces should be wider or have some minor padding on the tongue as these give some serious lace bite if you tie them snug. Also the plastic eye loops at yhe top dig into the foot if you tiw them too tight trying to get that lockdown.
I love adidas making these shoes this version is just not as good as the first. Much heavier, yes more stable the ride feel is not as bouncy as the initial version and once you his the 13km mark you really feel the weight of these.
I hope they do a combination of this and version 1 for version 3.
These shoes are the "What if?" By adidas... what if there were no regulations and you can make the craziest supershoe... etc...
now you know why sonic had Large SHOES
How much did they pay you to do this video? Just curious
They tried to arrest me, but they couldn't catch me.
Adidas asked the question of.... FUN.
Fun shouldn't be illegal.
I dont understand why people want such thick soles with so much cushion, it actually makes your feet and leg muscles really weak. Along with posture issues. After I went barefoot shoes, I never looked back
i think there is a balance but truth to what you say. my knees feel weird or weak when i wear those high stack trail shoes from new balance but too little cushion an my ankles end up hurting.
They should have races with no shoes
are they more comfortable than nike zoom 3?
Of course they are,but for running...they are not for casual walking tho.
The thicker the stack the more likely one will sprain their ankle. No thanks.
But can be use in local marathon..😂
Doesn't Gerda Steyn run in these? The record holder for multiple ultra marathons in South Africa. I guess that's why she doesn't compete internationally.
Barefoot running .. let's go!
Insane !!
If these shoes help a casual runner to run and finish a half marathon or a full marathon finishing it far away from the first ones, it worth it. No harm done because the dont compete just themselves.
It’s still cheating though , what if they win an age group is that really fair ?
They are only banned in elite marathon field (the people that win cash prises) if you aren't elite, they are perfectly legal
NOW ADIDAS HAS RELEASED ITS PRO VERSION
this runner is more animal than human
Good running shoes but not good for everyday use
This is like saying you cant use racket for tennis.
i thought we are talking about adidas carbon fibre running shoes
Wish theyd make an illegal basketball shoe so you could jump higher for fun
So someone did something that gave them the record so then they banned that technique but kept the record. So then how is the record supposed to be beaten if wearing a special shoe is now considered cheating?
gobes gobes eleeleleele
Ima buy these shoes and run 1 mile on a treadmill.
How was it ?
Rip kiptum
It's totally unfair to disqualify anyone from winning a marathon because of shoes
The rules are pretty clear though, we can guess it was a publicity stunt
I don’t think so
I know this has nothing to do with the video but does anyone k ow if stock x is good to buy from?
as long as the shoe doesn't use electricity don't ban anything, just push shoe science
Actually it is made for every type of runner. You just can't use them in competition.
Am i weird for thinking these look good on your feet
these shoes tho illegal are actually very good for daily runners and high level athletes. Shoes are the base of support for the biomechanics of running and have the greatest impact. These shoes made by nike and adidas would be great to help minimise injury and overtraining athletes. If you don't run competitively is it illegal to wear, and would having them cause a negative outcome?
