    Really stupid commentary. I've sat through many finals that were turgid affairs, even between the best national and club teams around the world. Three weeks off - hot conditions - affected BOTH teams. Spurs may have had better possession but they didn't get a shot on target for 70 odd minutes. Liverpool actually had the better chances. Allison did well but those saves were fairly routine. Liverpool sputtered but Spurs weren't that great either.

    • @Adams420
      @Adams420 Před 5 lety +5

      Defensive masterclass from Liverpool's back line and in the end that's what it was about if you are a real football fan you understand. As you said the possession stats for Tottenham didn't mean anything for much of the game because Liverpool just absorbed every single Spurs attack so easily. So really this was a case of good game management from Liverpool it's not always about a lot of goals.

    The pundits, and some presenters are often the biggest hypocrites going (we see a bit on display here) lfc got an early, and rightly given penalty,if they'd of went for more goals after and got exposed, and scored on then possibly even defeated all they would of talked about would've been that klopp is very naive,how he hasn't got any plan b (has failed to learn from his previous experiences etc) but they showed how to win ugly here as events demanded,this is a lesson learned from previous year's, and shows we have matured as a club to manage games in a different way while keeping a clean sheet.
    When they were wrote off after the first leg barca is when you seen lfc that need to play well,and score a lot to win,and against one of the best teams in the world they did exactly that,this was a different approach defined by event's as they transpired.
    We played well all year,lost one game all season in the pl,scored tons of goals along the way (having two of our player's in the golden boot) gaining a point total which would of won it for them by a mile in any year bar the last two,giving joy to even rival fans along the way who have commented on lfc page's saying so.
    I am proud of my team,my manager,and all the staff at lfc,and they have delivered for us another cl to add to our collection,but this stupid presenter,and others like him fail to see the hypocrisy of their own word's.
    YNWA.

  • @timknott5856
    @timknott5856 Před 5 lety +1

    I don’t give a shit what pundits say about the game... 90% of finals are rarely a sceptical... out of the 10% that’s are amazing for the neutral, the performances were shocking... in my living memory many of those finals in the 10% involved Liverpool such as Istanbul, the Gerrard FA cup final, the 2001 Uefa cup final and the 2001 FA cup final...and although we won and overcome adversity, the performances were shocking where often it put us in the position of having nothing to lose where Lady Luck gets us the win..
    This final is from a team, tactical and quality standpoint is the best final from Liverpool I have seen in my living memory why??
    It’s the first final where Liverpool took the lead and had the arrogance to go to spurs “were better than you, you don’t have the quality to beat us” where we controlled the game... after the 10 minute mark of taking the league I was confident that we will not concede and go on to with the game due to how comfortably we were controlling the game without having the ball..
    We didn’t even park the bus either, we employed a high counter press preventing them transitioning into our half..
    People who spout bollocks that spurs having 65% of the possession meant they battered us have no clue about the game... how many times under Rodgers did Liverpool have 65% and lose a game 2-0.
    Possession doesn’t get you goals, penetrating passes do and we prevented that by isolating Ali and Ericsson... where we kept Spurs in their own 18 yard box to pass the ball, badly may I say.
    We never got out of (or needed to) second gear and calved more chances than spurs as a result of our counter pressing - not long ball counter attacking from defending a corner or free kick...
    It may have not been entertaining, but for me what Real Madrid taught Liverpool last season is the final is about winning not showcasing... in which we did exactly that.. where it was the best methodical performance I have seen from Liverpool in a final... this was no fluke like Istanbul this was controlled and laid a statement to how good we actually are.
    Bring on city best season ...

    I think Tottenham did an Arsenal. They built their stadium at the wrong time for their club. Seriously if you had given Pochettino just $200m to spend to add more players to this team, which isn't much for a top 4 EPL side, even if it was $200m spread over the last 3 years, Tottenham would be serious contenders for every competition they entered. They'd go from a top 5 EPL team to a Top 5 European team. They have an incredible 'spine' to their team, and even this Summer 2019 if they gave Pochettino $100-150m and he invested it wisely, the way Liverpool have in the last 4 years, I think they would become up to Man City & Liverpool's level, reliably & realistically challenging for the EPL every single year. It's such a waste of an extraordinary team & an extraordinary coach.

      Liverpool may lack a David Silva, Coutinho type midfielder but Liverpool were second only to Man City in the League. Liverpool will add one or two additions in the summer and a creative midfielder and striker will be top of the list. Liverpool played Game Management football in the CL final. We know Liverpool can play better but to be fair they limited Spurs to shots from distance. It was an eventful final but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is Liverpool won. That will be in the history books people won't say Liverpool played poorly. It will just say Liverpool won their 6th European Cup.

Your problem is your jealousy and envy and unresolved issues and anger. You’re only embarrassing yourself with these comments because it makes you look bitter and sad, and that saddens me, it saddens me that you once were captain of Liverpool and you take to task by trying to divide two cities on football, as well as the cities themselves. Does Mr Souness understand UK geography? His suggestion Liverpool is a small provincial ‘town’ compared to Manchester of ‘4 million people’ sounds to me like he was educated at the care bear school of waffle (sponsored by centre for cities). Just to confirm Mr Souness, Liverpool and Manchester are roughly the same size, Liverpool is not ‘punching above its weight’ in any manner compared to its northwest neighbour, least of all on silverware as you should know. I really don’t understand this obsession with talking down the size of Liverpool, it’s a major British city.

      Ok they don't have top midfielders but lets take a look at what they do have and what they've built, piece by piece since Klopp has come in: a world class keeper and centre half, 2 full backs they've developed into two of the best full backs in europe. A front three that is up there with Man City's and Barcelona's frontline (maybe even the best frontline in europe right now, you could say City's is better but not by much).
      With all that talent, the midfield doesn't need to set the world on fire. LFC's midfield is hard working and fits perfectly into Klopp's system. Klopp has built a great team, end of story. Plus you make it sound like Liverpool's midfield is as bad as the current midfield for the irish national team (Liverpool's midfield lacks creativity but holy shit they arent THAT bad hahaha). If you wanna talk of the game being in a "sad state" you don't have to look far from home, no need to watch the champions league final.
