How to replace fan on Creality Ender 3 Pro and more fixes
• How to replace fan on ...
Who wants a clean and stylish 3D printer? Well in this video I'm Going to upgrade the bracket from my PSU from my Creality Ender 3 Pro. The Ender 3 has the PSU on the right side, mounted on the Z frame. It is possible to change and upgrade this bracket. You can design one yourself, what I wanted to do, but you can also find some on Thingiverse. The reason that I want to get rid of this PSU from this place, is because It's not looking nice and I have some future upgrades in mind, where this PSU isn't at the right place. This a fairly easy to do upgrade, but be careful, because you are working with electricity!

That makes the printer look so much better, and I’m about to instal a dual Z, so that’s why I’m here. Thanks for the help, and props from Australia.
I did do a dual Z axis upgrade, very nice
Nice! This mod also makes space for a dual z axis stepper and rod 🙂
😊 Yes indeed...😉 and this looks so much cleaner
It also evens out the weight of the printer making less vibrations resulting in better prints
6:17 You are supposed to push or pull any moving part of your printer in a very slow fashion.
Even though your printer was unplugged, the sudden mechanical movement you made caused the stepper motor to generate enough electricity that made the monitor blink!
This could have adverse effects on your electronics. Just be careful! :)
Indeed, that is very true
Just what I was looking for, thank you!. Now printing :D
If correct, you have the newer version which fits way better than the one that I had in the video... In a later video I have changed it to the most recent version. Enjoy your New designed Ender 3/Pro!
@@Zachary3DPrints thank you Zachary, I remixed the one you linked to, basically removed the printed extruder all but for a cm on the ends. Makes installation much easier with seemingly no loss of support. I certainly prefer the psu in its new location, that’s for sure 👍🏼
Nice design. Thanks for sharing ;)
You're welcome...
Thanks for this video. Will try ...
Thank, just let me know how it worked
boss really good idea to use your space, 😍
Thank you sir
With a Z -belt only mod coming I saw the need to move the PSU on my Ender 3 Pro ( gifted to me from my son ) so I found another bracket on Thingiverse that is much simpler to install called Ender 3 Pro Power Supply Relocate . It's not as elegant as the one you suggested but it requires only a minor addition of a ground wire between PSU and Ender frame.
Oh yes, there are multiple versions that you can use, and this one was the one I liked to most.
better to put the electronic case in the back and the power in the front beter off/on access and when using octoprint you dont need micro usb reader and if you do use a micro usb extention cable to make it realy clean ;-) and still accessable
Pascal Vos that is possible, maybe I’ll do that. I need to see with the plans I have in mind
I think I'm missing something here. I printed the model as per the Stl with no issues. When installing the power supply I noted that it was an extremely tight fit as mentioned , however the binding appeared to be from the power supply being quite tight ( forced ) against the lower extrusion holding the bed driver stepper motor. I was able to get the assembly into the V grove rails. I just stopped as it was obvious there was a significant amount of binding as mentioned previously I did not feel it was practical to continue ?
yes, that is true, in a later video I have changed this, please check this video… How to replace fan on Creality Ender 3 Pro and more fixes

@@Zachary3DPrints Ive watched the video it seems what I have printed previously cannot be used and new prints must be generated ;(
i know this is an old video but im just now seeing it and i noticed you mentioned your internet connection problem and ive been having that same problem and was wondering if you got that fixed and if so what you had to do to fix it.
Connection issue on TinkerCAD. After that I never really had any issues
Sorry Zac about your board. But the mod is quite good 👍
Yeah true, sometimes these things can happen, but it gives a learning moment and opportunity to upgrade this board as well.
i also install this to my ender 3 pro but the z-axis metal bar is pushing the metal plate a bit down and in worry it might do something to it
and is that normal as well???
For me the installation of the bracket was tight too, but I didn't had this issue. Which part on the printer is this plate? In the base of the printer aka the H frame part where the Z-Extrusions are mounted too?
Didn't you lose the ground from the PSU? So you have to put a cable from the ground screw to the frame to avoid ground issues.
Yes, that is true, in both ways, I always felt a bit of vibes in the frame. In a future video, i'll do a correction on this topic.
I've always been waiting for a video like this for my ender 3 pro, but wouldn't it be better if the fan from the power supply unit blows downwards?
Yes that is so true… I’m a later video I have changed this, please check this video… How to replace fan on Creality Ender 3 Pro and more fixes

@@Zachary3DPrints thank's a lot for the video update 😄
You're welcome
Would this reduce the efficiency of cooling on the power supply unit? Does it present more of a risk of the power supply over heating?
I don't know at this moment, It could. I know that Creality did changed their PSU to underneath the Y-axis on the Ender 3 V2 and the CR-6 SE. I'll come back on this
@@Zachary3DPrints I'll give those printers a look and see if they have any heating issues, I like how this mod looks and nice video by the way, to the point and clear. Most people don't include mistakes and they're always good to look out for.
Thank you sir
@Zachary 3D Prints The PSU does not require a lot of cooling. I am more concerned about the cooling of the bed above due to the PSU fan.
@@snax_4820 I doubt it would affect it, it’s an intake fan
I turned over the printer, put the power supply in the space, and first thing I saw immediately is how all the cables coming from the motherboard would be in the way...maybe this bracket/install was designed for an older model Ender lol?
Yes, when I made this video, the model was still work in progress. I have the newer version is better, I have recently upgraded this PSU holder for that one
@@Zachary3DPrints this is how mine is made www.thingiverse.com/thing:4882257
What PSU are you using ?
I have just blown my stock PSU, I am actually looking for a more resilient and silent PSU.
The PSU is the standard one from Creality, the Meanwell PSU
Think I'd have a fan cover on that too ?
yeah, I was thinking about that too
Incase you haven’t found the problem yet,top of the cover fails on the stepper motor just cut the edge till it clears it
Yes indeed. A few weeks ago I sat that there is a newer version of this PSU bracket, which slides very nicely in the extrusions.
Debris will fall in fan and vent slots. Printed "fan" cover may help so fan doesn't stop, and your PSU goes up in flames. But need cover for vent slots too.. Probably should have flipped it over like the Ender 2 V2. You'll see when you get the V2.
What printer did you use to print the mod at 120mm/s?
Lol, I know what you mean, I'm working on that one. I don't get one. I had to choose, better camera for the channel or more printers... Did I mention it, I was printing it 120mm/s?
@@Zachary3DPrints understand. Probably running out of room for printers.
Did you print those with the Ender 3 Pro at 120mm/s?
Oh well, I think at 60 mm/s on my Ender 3 Pro
@@Zachary3DPrints so did you print these at 120mm/s on the PRUSA?
Nope, printed on the Ender 3 pro @60mm/s
08:20 the Prusa sticker 😂:)
Yeah I know, cool he. Where Prusa meets Creality…
Creality does not use metric screws therefore it could not be an M5 screw. I guess it is a UNA (US-type) one. In Europe, there are hard to get. Disclaimer: I am not an engineer.
For a certain channel project I had to buy M5 screws, I hope i have the right ones. They should be M5 from the Creality ones. Because I have tried the M4's but they where not it...
@@Zachary3DPrints Do not embark on this adventure without enough screws. You should glue the power switch to the printed part because PLA tends to split up easily once you try to drill screws in it.
My beloved - perhaps not very useful but good-looking - parametric cable guide died also along the way. It does not fit anymore.
Additionally, you need a thread cutter if you want to attach the whole thing to the frame.
Why not just loosen the side bolts?
Yes that is also a great idea to do. Thank you
Hiya. I know im very very late. But i just got a 3d printer. And im an absolute imbecile. So i accidentaly switched the voltage to 115. Forgot about it. Ran my printer up. And SOMETHING burned out. And i really hope its just the psu with my limited knowledge.. Did i mess up too bad or. Is it light work good sir?. 😢
Sorry for the late reply. Oh setting it for 115 instead of 230... I think both board and PSU are toast. IDK if this issue was already solved. If you take out the board, see if there are any burn marks on the chips, if so --> buy a BTT board or look for a Creality one. For the PSU, unplug the TX connector and unscrew the metal cover plate and see if there are some burn marks there. You could see if you power it on, if there is a green light lighting up. a new PSU is around 55usd
Does it work on the ender 3(non pro)?
Thanks for the question. Since the PSU of the normal Ender 3 is thicker, it doesn't work on that one. You can check to upgrade the PSU on the printer...
@@Zachary3DPrints Interesting, so the psu of the pro version is more powerful and slimer? That would make sense as an upgrade. My gcode does auto bed leveling at the same time as heating the extruder and bed, it could use some more power. I think using custom feet would also be an options the fit the ticker psu
dont forget to connect he earth wire between powersupply and frame ;-)
Yes, correct
Too bad this doesn’t work with ender 3 😭 one side does not fit since the power supply is thicker on the ender 3.
Oh no... that is terrible! But maybe you can buy the thinner PSU and install that instead? Just helping out a fellow maker!
@@Zachary3DPrints actually I did bought the ender 3 pro psu. I did fit perfectly.👍🏽
Oh that is great to hear buddy!
