Directed and produced by visual artist Ben Ib.
April 2014 marks the 'Band on the Run' U.S. single's anniversary, released as a 7" on 8th April, 1974 (28th June 1974 in the UK, fact fans!).
The 'Band on the Run' album was recorded in EMI Studios, Lagos and AIR Studios, London between August and October of 1973. Wings were without a drummer at the time so Paul stepped in and recorded all the drum tracks. It was during the Lagos sessions that Paul and Linda were mugged losing their money, camera and the original album demos to the thieves!
This unfortunate event didn't stop 'Band on the Run' from becoming Wings' most successful album. It was the top selling album in the UK in 1974 and reached no.1 in the US on 3 separate occasions. It has gone on to sell over 7 million copies worldwide.
The 'band on the run' on the iconic front cover features broadcasters Michael Parkinson and Clement Freud, singer / actor Kenny Lynch, actor James Coburn, actor Christopher Lee, boxer John Conteh as well as Paul, Linda and Denny Laine
The album was re-mastered and reissued in 2010 as the first release in the on-going Paul McCartney Archive Collection, featuring previously unreleased performances and rare documentary footage.

This is my favorite childhood song. Paul McCartney had so many great songs it's unfathomable. Still listening 50 years later in 2024. Anyone else?
Me feeling the same!
As am I.

He has all the hits
True sad the beatles broke up bc they were an amazing band ps paul mccartney is my fav
Lol😂. Get a life.
Spot on my friend, this guy is a genius.
@@craighalford1374 john what big part, too, even George had large input, even Ringo, that alway being nocked for not even being best drummer in the Beatles, hat memorable song hits "yellow submain", and supposedly load with hidden meaning to big answers to the big quetion the them meaing of lift and that sort of stuff, not bad for basally a drummer, and not the best at that, supposedly 🙂
Remember first hearing this as a 14 year old in '74 ...I was cleaning the garage and cranked this song up on the radio!
I was 14 on that time too. This song will never old!
me when i was 17...good times
I was 9, ...thank you Mom and Dad for introducing our family to all genres of music...R.I.P🕊❤
I'm 14 listening, to this now!!!
So the drummer left on a measly wage of £70 a week when he could have been earning £2,000. And McCartney robbed the guitarist only because he claimed the right to be human and live his life outside of Wings. He robbed and kicked him out of the group under a fictitious pretext, spreading the myth that the guitarist turned out to be unprofessional and could not play the solo, which Paul played with ease. From Denny Laine, McCartney, with meanness and deceit, bought the copyrights to the Wings' joint songs, including the most commercially successful song in the UK, Mull Of Kintyre 1977. And during the Beatles period, McCartney plagiarized songs: Hey Jude, Yesterday, Blackbird. Later he passed off Lennon’s Yellow Submarine, In My Life and the joint Michelle, Eleanor Rigby, She’s Leaving Home, With A Little Help From My Friends as his own songs. Friends, don’t you think you’ve been paying this moral monster for too long?
I love this song. Reminds me of another time, when things were simple.
Amen
I bet that that was Paul McCartneys message. The words don't match that
I meant - NOT his message
I can soooo relate ☮️🙏🤗

50 years later and still an amazing song from the amazing legend!
Y seguira pasando el tiempo y se seguirá escuchando por generaciones... Saludos desde México 🇲🇽🇲🇽
I remember when my father took me to Florida on vacation. We drove his mustang down. This song continuously played on the radio. I miss my dad.
RIP Denny Laine one of the greatest unsong songwriters.
Denny Laine was great, but he did not write this one. _Band on the Run_ is by Paul, with a co-credit to Linda.
I received this album from a late friend. She gave it to me on my 16th birthday. I have been listening to this song for 50+ yrs.✌️😎
🎉
Band on the run is the most beautiful and perfect song ever written and sing!
No. Tis' simply not true, peasant..
Yesterday, Paul aswell, Blackbird, Paul also, Her majesty, Paul (Fekkin)McCartney... many paul songs, but band on the run isnt, it is consider one of the grestest albums of all time, as an album, but not just the song, but might i say, it purty gud.
Every time I hear this song it takes me back to 1974!! When music ment something!!!
Arranged by aPRO.!!!!!
Your opinion
I absolute agreed. No other song can compare to this.
It just makes me wanna run where no one’s there.
Wings was a fantastic group. Paul &Linda were amazing and so was this song!!!
At this point of the history of Wings, you just named 2 of the 3 band members. Let's give love to Denny Laine and then consider how remarkable it is now that only 3 people are on this genuis song. But it could only start with the vision of Sir Paul McCartney.
Linda? Really???
@@1pattaya Yep. Linda was no musician and she knew it. Paul wanted her in the band so they didn't have to be separated when they were on the road. Linda adds absolutely nothing to the music.
Yes Denny Laine was fabulous!
RIP Denny Laine
As someone that spent all their teen years in the 80's, I had as much appreciation for the 70's classic rock. There are some songs that just have that "sound" that allows them to transcend across decades and generations. This song is one of them.
The beginning part of the song has a sense of longing and dismay to it. The next part sort of has a sense of tension and urgency. Then the entire second half of the song has a feeling of release and freedom to it.
A well written story
i think it’s written like that to convey the feelings of escaping prison which is why its called band on the run
1. getting locked up
2. breaking out
3. being free
My Momma had me listen to this song i'm now 22 and i pray for 100 more years of listening to this song with here in the summer time.
A fantastic composition. One of the very best by McCartney n Wings. Whole album a masterpiece
I’m 9 years old on a big yellow school bus…taking our parks and recreations trips from Sunland Tujunga Ca to Santa Monica Beach, lifeguard station 22.
Young, carefree, jamming on the freeways with the windows down and the cool bus driver playing 93KHJ.
Ahhhh… those were wonderful memories, lots of good times ahead too! Right?!
Such a great song. The subtle “yeah!” In the background really works.
I was in high school at Escondido High School I remember riding the bus home and our bus driver would put the radio on and Band On The Run would always come on he had it on full blast I would sing it all the way home..
Beautiful memories Thanks Paul ...
This is insane… riding to and from Twin Peaks Junior High in Poway California in 1974… KCBQ AM with Wolf-man Jack and the bus would roar to this song. I miss those days!
I've always loved this song. Now that I've finished the restoration and 70s style conversion of my 1978 GMC van, I'm having "Van On The Run" airbrushed on the sides and spare tire cover.
Freaking AWESOME!!

This songs just takes you back...surely to a better time in life...
This is such an incredible piece of music that is absolutely a blast to cover. Love the changes in tempos. Not much like this anymore!
I may be 14. But my taste for exquisite 60-70s songs such as band on the run, life on mars by David Bowie. Rocks off and gimmie shelter by the stones, California dreamin by the mamas and papas. And Creedence Clearwater revival’s fortunate son. Are all beautiful.
I can't possibly count all the lyric videos that I've seen. But this one is truly exceptional. I love how they made people and animals out of the lyrics. Beautiful.

I was 8 years old and I had this on a 45. I played it all of the time.
What is a "45"?
Daffysamlake a 45 is a vinyl single
Me too,on a little portable record player. My brother was a diskjocky and he would bring home stacks of records. Country dreamer, jet, jude, crocodile rock, elderberry wine . I was the same age. Good memories.
I had a question do you know if there is this song with out the high hats? If u know
Please post your 45 picture.
This is an insanely good song, unbelievable it has under a million views.
Didn't want the 70s to ever end some of the best singers and miss that time in my life
i cant remember the 70s ,must have been great.
One of the most uplifting songs ever devised...
On my tombstone, the inscription shall read: “here lies Nick, the kind of guy who would like Wings more than the Beatles.”
I may be 14 year old but I alway love the Beatles ever since I heard Eleanor Rigby and other great song

Love this song Band on the run beautiful and perfect 💕💕💕
Wow it still sounds great in the 21st century, what a fantastic song cheers, wings
The very fact that this tune changes tempo twice attests 2 the consummate virtuoso wizardry of Paul, not 2 mention a beautiful melody thrown in 4 good measure.
С самого детства слушаю эту пластинку!
I don't know why I started singing this song this morning. I might have a little cabin fever. Don't belong to no one these days and that's a good thing. Feeling mighty free. Thank God. I LOVED watching this video I don't usually watch them. I enjoyed this one though. Very creative. Thanks for posting it.

Great version it's a keeper in my collection of Rock n Roll 🎉
I love Paul and Linda. Cause of my uncle we got hooked as a kid to adult. I like Paul the most in Beatles and love how loyal they are to each other. Rip Linda.
That’s how you rock it after the Beatles 🤗
One of my favorites to listen to on a roadtrip on a rainy day.
This song makes you feel good and no one dare not move their body or head to this timeless tune!
Paul's bass lines are really interesting and quite melodic !

2019’s best TV moment? It was Stephen Colbert answering Anderson Cooper’s question about grief. Colbert related to that; in the summer weeks just before his father and brothers died, he recalled that the Paul McCartney and Wings song “Band on the Run” had been a big radio hit - to this day, he said, “Do not play ‘Band on the Run’ around me, you know? . . . Yes. You become a different person. . . . You kind of re-form yourself in this quiet, grieving world. . . . It became a very quiet house and very dark. And ordinary concerns of childhood suddenly kind of disappeared. . . . I had certainly a different point of view than the children around me.” The Washington Post article by Hank Stutter and video can be found her on CZcams 🇺🇸
COLLEGE of ARTS and LETTERS
Paul McCartney não economizava em melodias. Três diferentes apenas em uma canção, e que melodias!
Ele já tinha feito isso no Abbey road
I remember listening to this when I was a kid reminds me of hot summer days just playing and whatnot! Love Paul and Wings
