It was summer of 1976, I was 8. At camp. My idiotic parents were fighting, cursing, stressing, cheating, drugging, drinking and divorcing ... Then I heard this song. I love you Paul. Thank you for helping me when I needed it most.
You caused it
Iron Feliks 🛎 end
Iron Feliks you are an IDIOT
Yes I remember the Paul McCartney era. This one brings me back to late 1975 early 76. I was 6. Elementary school, the kids I played with and the teachers. Good and happier times as a kid. Never forgotten.
sorry you had to go through that :(( happy music helped you coped with it, thats the power of music:))
The bass line for this "silly little love song" just blows me away.
Me too. Really. Paul's bass is a solo in this great song🎵. Moscow🇷🇺 Russia. Best regards.
@@user-ok7pm4kf1i Мe too!!!
me too. my favourite bass line ever. its so simple but it brings so much life to the song with how bouncy it is.
the same could be said for many bass lines but this one just feels special.
Surely I’m not the only one still loving this song (and group) nearly 50 years on 😃 anyone else ?
Me Too ❤❤❤❤
Yeah mate, just added to my favorite list,
One of the catchiest basslines ever. R.I.P to Denny Laine.
I was only 7 when this came out, what memories. RIP Mr. Laine.
Paul was bass on Silly Love Songs, Denny was piano.
@@Lee-df3ye I am aware, can we not still celebrate and remember his memory?
Of course we can 🙏🏽 I meant nothing negatively to his honor RIP
Он не умер для меня. Я сам на басу играю. Он будет жить, пока мы слушаем его песни!!!
The joy this man has brought to humanity is incalculable...
+centralcentre I totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!
yup ..your bang on there 👍
I listen to Frank Zappa religiously. I love his musical creations for their superior musicianship, unequalled inventiveness and sublime absurdity. He has immeasurably expanded and elevated the entire craft of Rock music, and his contribution to world culture is on a par of the greatest, most renowned classical composers, and it's a rare privilege to enjoy artistry of the quality which Zappa consistently produced throughout his considerably lengthy but prematurely terminated career.
But I also love so much of Paul McCartney's music which has touched and moved me in ways that Zappa's amazingly well crafted and zany music simply couldn't. I even love this sappy silly song with it's syrupy sweet lyrics. Just 'cause you have a cold mechanical computerized water pump for a heart doesn't make me and all the millions of other lovers of this music embarrassing juvenile wussies. It makes us human; living, breathing, feeling, loving, yearning, weeping, whimpering, and even contentedly smiling adult human beings! So there, you big boo boo poopy head.
Man, what are you talking about?
Nuthin'!!! And everything.
This bassline is insane. This all is so delightful to hear.
One of the best songs of the 1970s.
U hit the nail on the head
I was a 70’s child and man am i the only one that wishes i can go back to that time! The music, simpler times, Star Wars, playing with neighborhood friends riding bikes! Leaves knots in my stomach every time i hear a song from my awesome childhood filled with amazing memories
Time never stands still. I'm in the same boat as you. I never wanted to have my heart grow cold from interacting with others and paying for things that I never caused them pain. Now, I find myself in pain and I don't want to be vengeful. That's the easiest route to take.
My wife and I met in 72 when we were both 14. We also love this time period. No riots, assinations and NO MORE DRAFT!
Yes and im taking meds because I wish and miss
@lisaflores8801 I'm not sure if the meds help or not, honestly. I've suffered chronic depression for over 30 years and there have been studies that indicate that the condition does damage to the brain. I'm not nearly as sharp mentally as I once was. Of course, when you are constantly assaulted verbally by a repeat alcohol offender father and no support or understanding from my siblings, every day continues to take me further down into the pit. I wish you well during your journey.

That "lead bass" line makes the song. Just melodic and brilliant.
There should be an extra 'thumbs-up' available just for the bass on this song 🎸

Do not underestimate the contribution of the late great Denny Laine!
Life after The Beatles. It’s rare to have a successful band after being in a successful band. Wings were phenomenal.
I adore Wings. Wish I was alive back then so I could have seen them onstage 😭
I wouldn't call WINGS phenomenal just average band with a SUPERSTAR but would they have made it without PAUL?? I doubt it
I was 13 in the summer of '76 this song used to come on the radio every hour my brother I used to listen to thi gem, I miss you little brother, the memories still live.
It's crazy that John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and even Ringo Starr did well after the breakup. So much talent
@goob true Pau McCartney never would have made it on his own in 1964 but he got by with a little help from his friends
Linda’s vocals is the icing on the cake. It elevates every song.
Both she and Denny Laine (who quit the group in 1981) are irreplaceable, vocally speaking.
She was grossly underrated.
There was no Wings without Linda. The substantial part.
Linda made it. She was truly great.
Is she really singing ? Funny how no one knew she could sing before she met McCartney.
the fact that Paul can play this basslines while singing live was really mind blowing 👍👍👍

70s & 80s for me too, I’ll be 56 in a few days
*Did you know that the song "Silly Love Songs" by Paul McCartney is actually a response to John Lennon's comment about Paul post-Beatles break up when Lennon claimed that the only songs that Paul had written for the Beatles were just "silly love songs"
Paul once commented "The fact is, deep down, people are very sentimental. If they watch a sentimental movie at home, they cry, but in public they won't. We don't like to show our emotions, we tend to sneer at that & in the same way, people may not admit to liking love songs, but that's what they seem to crave."
Genevieve
John f*cked himself!
Yep, Paul wrote a lot of silly love songs. Like Helter Skelter, I Saw Her Standing There, Back In The USSR... the list is endless :)
Wonder what John thought about "Hey Jude". Paul wrote it for Julian Lennon after his father left his mother for Yoko. Remember to let her into your heart and then you begin to make things better. They were best of friends, I"m sure John was joking. He also said The Beatles were, "more popular than Jesus".
Not for John. But for music critics who said Paul only wrote 'lightweight love songs'.
This shut them up for a while though... Well, not all ;)
Dear Paul,
We love you too!
Sincerely,
Everyone!
So beautiful. Paul and Linda were magic.
Indeed!
They look like brother and sister...which is another way of saying they were probably soul mates. It's hard to think of a person losing their soul mate. Whenever I hear this song I think about that scenario....it's difficult to contemplate, so I can't begin to appreciate the perspective of the person left behind. The pain must be all consuming.
Меня беспокоит другое. Как сэр Пол здоровье жены проморгал. С его то деньгами.?

As good as Leon's bass playing? ;)
Good to see you Artimus.
If you say so, Mr Pyle
I agree and it sounds like it is from a Rickenbacker 4001/4003 with round wound strings, with the rear pickup and the tone control is at 0 with the total bass tone, unlike the clanky treble tone with the control on 10 as you normally hear from Ricks
I was 4yrs old...my Mom was in her 30's...i can still hear her singing this song & see her dancing around our little slum shotgun apartment on the westside of Cleveland...us 4 kids and her just trying to survive...she's been gone since 2000- cancer.

Wings was amazing. Paul will always rock the world with his music
If I'm Correct, John Said ,All Paul writes are Silly Love Songs! Yes. He's Good At It!
One of the greatest bass lines ever written. Paul = Genius Bass player. Paul was a chameleon musician: he could really do any style or genre. Funk bass line - Paul - "no problem mate" This is a perfect bass line, every note is supposed to be there, and no overplaying: just musical perfection.
Ya, I also like the bass line in Something.
@@gboard7 yeah i forgot about that one! 1000% agreed.
And to think that Quincy Jones stated that Paul didn't know how to play the bass!
Yes he is a perfectionist. I saw him writing a song with Cilla Black around 1964. His changing notes & words with George Martin in the background not saying a word until Cilla asks him what he thinks. He gave no opinion obviously waiting I believe for Paul to finish playing with the song . This song is a diamond.

Amen
I know exactly what you mean.I was about the same age.I didn't even live in exactly the greatest environment.
McCartney was in a songwriting ZONE for about 15 years, where he couldn’t miss, including when he wrote this one. Both his voice and the bass line on this one are incredible.
He's been in that zone his entire career.
I remember this whole lp of band on the run fantastic ❤👍
For me it's between 62-82. 84 was the very last year when I think the magic part of that window completely closed.
Then from there on in he is just like any other musician in the trenches either hitting or missing.
But even when it worked for other fans after that, not so much for me.
nothing compares to what he wrote during the Beatles years. they are on a whole different level. He and Lennon could pull in words and melodies better together than they could apart. Lennon's post Beatles work is surprisingly weak. Harrison's All Things is the best post-beatles record.
@@jv-ep2tc "Lennon's post Beatles work is surprisingly weak." That's all a matter of opinion.
Lennon's entire solo output consists of just five albums and one of those is a cover's album. Of course he did a few albums with Yoko which includes those albums with avent-garde leanings but effectively Lennon spent his first five years after leaving the Beatles making records when the mood took him. He then spent five years making bread, and then he made a couple more albums before he was shot dead. Collectively, he created more in those five years than most musicians create within a lifetime. (Never mind the magic he created as a Beatle).
This song is among the most beautiful of songs.
Thank you, jorge. This is among the most beautiful of words. To you, a song.
Thank you, too.

Absolutely fantastic backing vocals from Linda. R.I.P.😍
It is done in the studio I remember wings over America the DJ's on the radio would play a song from the concert I do believe it was hey Jude isolated but Linda's voice it was so funny everybody was laughing it was the worst thing you could ever hear dogs all over the city where howling people calling in the radio station with laughing so hard she can't sing a note but to her credit she always admitted that
@@markwindsheimer201 I remember that. I guess if people choose to be cruel and spiteful they could make any of us of look like idiots by putting us under a microscope. Linda always struck me as being a very genuine and down to earth person....a really good person. She was adored by her husband and that is a wonderful thing. So she couldn't sing...who cares...her husband wanted her to be a part of the group, it's his group...that's his right. There are plenty of artists making big money and they are terrible singers in reality...

This song is very nostalgic. God bless Paul McCartney. This was when music was better and the world was more peaceful. As a child of the 1970's, I feel very sorry for today's children.
Agreed. That’s why today’s teens are anxiety riddled, emotionally detached, miserable & disillusioned.
It's ok. You'll be obsolete soon in the future along with your awful generation messing this world up
Согласен да не заняты ничем. Только кнопки а телефоне тыкать.
No. The world was lost in wars in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Central America, and much of Africa. Most of that was due to the United States and Russia inflicting their mutual and violent hatred on everyone in between.
And here in the West, divorce was at an all-time high as women realized that many of their husbands were abusive and narcissistic.
Today's children are smarter and more in tune with people around the world, and therefore less tolerant of war. And they are much smarter than the fools who voted for the wars and deficit spending of Nixon and Reagan.
Stop projecting your own issues onto younger, healthier generations.

I had won the tickets from a radio station for the Cleveland show in 1976. I was almost not able to make the show cause there were only 2 tickets and me and my cousin were HUGH Beatles fans. I had bugged my Aunt and Uncle to take us to that show. They hesitatingly agreed since we were still young. BOY WHAT A NIGHT IT was! I had seen Paul after this in 1990, but this was DEFINITELY his best. i got to see him on May 10th, 1976 in Cleveland, OH. It was My FIRST concert! My cousin was also very enamored. She moved around enough wanting to get upclose during the show and as a result, we got separated since we were situated on the floor. She ended up going to the lost and found in a crowd of almost 40,000 seat attendance after the show. After trying to find her, I frustratringly went to the lost and found to find her. Here she ended up backstage. She was a very aggressive young girl and what happened BLEW my mind! By the time I went there to find her, She was UNBELIEVEABLY talking to Paul, YES Paul who was sitting in his Limo with Linda in the back stage garage. For some unexplained reason, I see her upclose within 30 ft. to the Limo leaning in to talk to him. He had actually given her a orchid flower that was inside the BOOT of the limo (AKA the trunk). I was so blown away, I had met up with my Aunt and Uncle there. We just stood and watched her that night. It was a night I couldnt believe my eyes! To this day I had that orchid pressed and put in a photo album as she ended up giving it to me!
