In this video I cover the history of codelock raiding in rust. We go over how people brute forced keylocked bases and codelocked bases. We talk about the biggest creators who did code lock raids and how they manage to plan it out what was their strategy and so on. We also go over the first codelock tutorials and how it really all worked. - Hry
A thing to keep in mind for the soup code raid that you didnt mention is that it was due to the guest code update. It wasnt even a exploit it was jsut the fact that every code lock automictically had their guest code set to 0000. So you couldnt steal someones base unless you blew the doors up and there was a counter to the bug and that was just changing the default code from 0000 to smth else.
Also back when key locks still needed keys to use what you would do is have one key inside your base so you can respawn and still have your base, and then when you would go out you would have 1 on you that you would hide in a stash in a rock near the base. So it was very rare that you killed someone that had a key on them because people werent dumb. But one meta that came from this was looking in rocks near bases for hidden stashes. This actually worked super well and was how you key lock raided before the whole 100 id number thing was discovered.
Key locks werent ever meant to be used in bases. There only purpose was to secure your base before you had a furnace. I honestly miss the progression of it but it might just be nostalgia. Its like how now adays you focus on metal frags to get rid of your wood door, but instead you would focus on getting a codelock.
ALSO A REALLY COOL THING back in the day was maps. You could kill a player and they would have a crafted map on them, this map most likely would have drawings of where there base is, so back in the day you would kill soemone that had a key, loot the map they had, and then go to their base and steal it. This was so fucking old and i dont evne think you can draw on maps anymore and obvciously its not an item anymore. Maps had so many updates throughout the years but at first it worked like minecraft where you had to discover everything.
anyway im rambling, ive just played since 2014 so know way too much about old metas. You should do a video on heavy armor and how it used to be meta and how people use it now a days. Muzzle break also used to be meta lmfao but that was a different era. Back when everyone wore atleast 1 piece of heavy armor when roaming.
they should TOTATLLY bring back the crafted maps
I don't play rust, but the one time i tried it, there were the drawable maps. I really liked the feature, and i still think it's superior immersion-wise to modern rust's map
Rust became too arcade
I will never forget how I raided a huge base back in the day, and they had so many boom, but also one player had map on him and it had drawn red circle around our base location, and it was writen RAID on it. It set chills down my spine as I took all they loot, and wrote "HOW ABOUT NO'' back on the map and left if for them.

I really appreciate these “history” videos about the game. I think you found a niche that nobody is doing.
Heard abt Jack shephard?
@@GodcintOG - I have and im subbed to him, but he doesn’t upload very often.
Yeah I love history especially at 0:37 that’s my favorite😂
I feel like a cool addition would be to have thumbprint locks that allowed you to open any doors that you have regestered on and nobody else. This would solve the issue of code raiding and if it’s expensive such as 15hqm, 1 tech trash could make it so groups can get some but not many
Could make it require power too
@@Jk-qx7gm It definitely is, just requires 2 or more exposed doors on a base and lots of bags
You can code raid still. Just take the top 8 codes to each base. It's less about picking that base, more about that base having one of the 25% of codes in the top 8.
Best interview in the world. Awesome vid man keep it up!
The meta for key locks was using a stash in a bush next to your base or under your wooden foundation so you didn't have to carry the key with you.
It’s crazy to think people haven’t been around since key locks! I came back to rust and was confused why I could open my locked door without a key haha.
Super concise and detailed video, Hope your channel blows up
I love these rust documentaries please keep it up
Yes sir
dude I thought these videos were made from someone with 50K plus the fact that you only have 2.7k is crazy. you are a very good content creator
hahaha i remember all of this
i love how you make your videos like you take the old things from rust that most of the new players don't know it and then u make videos of it , love the content man, keep up the great work
Glad you like them! < 3
I think they changed it so you need to have TC Auth to be able to enter codes on locks. Which for one is more secure than letting someone retry over and over at certain intervals to guess and unlock the door code.
Good research and editing!
I totally forgot about this, this video made me remember those good old times, thank you.
This is amazing video. Maybe best rust video i ever watched in years of literealy watching Rust videos daily. Idk how you put all of it together.
Really loving these videos! More please :D
omg the features we've all forgotten about and take for granted now. Who remembers being shot through wooden walls because the gaps were actually huge gaps that people could reach through?
This throwback video reminded me of this crazy exploit back in 2017 or 2018 (if my memory is right, could be off on that time) where explo ammo did 100 dmg per bullet on items in door frames. At the time I’m pretty sure double doors had more HP than single doors so everyone had double doors. Since they are in door frames whoever knew about this exploit first or at all was just melting through people’s bases.
the amount of nostalgia I'm getting from watching this
It's been 5 months since I've met a player who's even heard of HDRP.
Your friend is completely in accurate, keylocks was changed in 2020 to no longer require key not 2016, in 2016 the game wasn't even in full release yet it full released in 2018.
i cant believe how there are barely any viewers for this guy. so much appreciation from me, love you homie
Tyty ❤️
liked and subbed, these history of rust videos are great
man, I did love a good old fashioned keyraid. A mate and I would have a near inventory full and just lurk around looking for keylocked bases and just walk right on in.
that 0000 code, i experienced it once.. Used it once.. then literally mid wipe they wiped the servers, mid wipe being the saturday or sunday after force (australia) so imagine 2-3 days of force wipe progression just instantly wiped cause of this glitch. Needed to be done but man people raged
Your a real g for adding soup into this video subbed
videos actually go crazy
I don't even play rust but your vids are so good, your channel will blow up 100%
when my brother was 12, the first time he ever played rust he found a ton of keys in a bush and was able to get in someones base. He took over the base and logged off, but in the morning he was game banned. We have submitted tons of appeals that went unanswered and sent tons of emails. Now he has 2255 days since last ban on his account. The game devs used to be completely brain dead. We still dont know why he was game banned.
Note: My brother has never been very good with computers. He has a decent understanding as most pc gamers do, but he had no idea how to get cheats, and still doesnt frankly. I know for a 100% fact he wouldnt risk getting a game ban on his main account as well.
The key lock thing applies to real life as well, someone out in the world has a key to a lock you own maybe even your neibor when I started to learn lockpicking I discovered that we are not as protected as we think we are when we lock ourselves in for the night. With enough time a 3 and 4 digit number can be hacked by trying the numbers in sequence I've done it myself with combination locks.
Back in the key days we would keep one member of our trio in the base to open and close the door for the other two until we had 100 frags for our code lock
In this time, when key was needed to open the door starting was absolutely different. There was no sense in buildin base while you can't aford furnace, or had empty cans to melt them in campfire to get codelock. Or one of your teammates had to stay in base to open door for everyone else xD
Console kinda got a code raiding nerf as well but, it doesn’t stop you from entering a code. Instead it increases damage every wrong code you put in doubling the damage. So technically we can’t really code raid but it’s still possible but slower.
i remember these days, you would have to designate a teammate to be a doorman, he basically sits in the base opening and closing doors for everyone until a proper lock was crafted lol/
I can tell you from experience, nobody ever used key locks in old Rust. As soon as I saw a shit shack with a key lock I knew it was someone with less than like 5 hours.
The most unique Rust video ideas out there! 💯
Great video!
I'm sorry if you get this a lot but you sound like zprotz. I really enjoyed the code raiding history!
I learned a lot of funny numbers in the span of this video
tbh when I first got into Rust in 2020 without any idea about the meta or wider community, I looked at code locks and thought, "I wonder if people just use old PINs and shit for these. I bet you could just use a table based on bank account hacks to figure out likely codes"
I think anyone who has a background in computer security would probably come to the same conclusion.
I love your videos, but you might wanna blur some stuff at 0:32
so i'm not the only one who noticed nice XDDDD
Using the most common PIN numbers for raids makes sense I use the same as my card definitely gotta change that
casual friday night in with the bois code lock raiding lol
i remember using code locks while playing solo back in the days but i didnt remembered why lol
Wasn't expecting to see Soup in this.
I was thinking the most common credit card no's and then you mentioned it 🤣
man, they could just use list of most used 4 digit code, not a "rust" list but even most often used phone password code or windows password code or anything, they have been on the internet for ages
I remember seeing a key lock base as a naked and just starting farming wood to lock raid it. Every time :D
Old rust was OG man the maps looked so much better nostalgia lvls over 9000
Code raiding is the goat of non explosive raids
I used to admin for straightupaxes, RIP that dude, he quit content and rust and never heard from him since lmfao
When code raiding was still a thing we raided like 4 bases without codew lists
6:17 why tf did you pull up my mousepad
2018 is 5 years ago....that one cought me of guard...fuck i am getting old
Arent we all 💀
I wish I sent you my first code crack clip, I had a friend at my house and we watched the konfuzion code cracking video and I tried it for 30 minutes and got into a base with a whole sleeping clan and it didn't even feel real
great vid again man
Key raiding was so much fun, I did that a lot. When you killed someone with a key you would run around looking for the base with the key lock haha
DO a video on odd raiding techniques / echo raiding history. like i remember back way when, you could break down a wooden door with lit torches.. ahhh fun. we would group up as nakeds and bash randos doors for fun
I believe that one of the original famous code guess video was made by "LoganInTheUK", Ye.
It was weird that you had to bring a key once u've locked the door? How do you it irl on your house then?
i had the ultimate cheese tech with the keylock raid, i took out so many people that way back in the day. I miss old rust
Also, codelock used to be a blueprint you had to find, so it wasn't as easy as getting 100 frags and putting on that codelock.
-10 year Rust OG
Bro is this your first channel I feel like I recognize your voice.
all they need to do is add one more digit to the codelock codes and you basically end code lock raiding for good.
The fact they havent means something.
i remember the first server i ever played with my mate at the time back in 2016-17 and finding a compound near airfield. we just got Thompsons and were scared of finding anyone. i jokingly put 5555 and it opened. we raided that entire base and that was my first LR i ever held.
All ur vids take me back to when rust was best
Key raiding was op. Missing the good ol days
On my first ever wipe of rust i code raided a base on the 10th try i think i had around 20h on he game this was back in 2020i still have the clip of me and my friends doing it and freaking the fuck out
I tried to code raid in the console edition but the lock got shut I guess they nerfed the code raid in the horses update
christ I remember needing keys for locks. It was common for people to store their keys in a stash near their house, and to use the old craftable maps to write down the location of that stash and their house. I still remember killing dudes and finding a literal treasure map that would lead me to their home, although it was very retarded, it made for some very cool experiences.
Damn...
2016 made him a oldhead, and I used to play rust in browser in 2013.
Oh how times have changed.
wait rust was on browser lol
@@Gamesense1 oh yeah… early early development everyone looked like a default military soldier and there were still zombies in the game. It was cool man, once they put the game on steam after it started getting a little more success they sent everyone the code to activate their copy on steam
Man I wish your videos were longer. Love them all.
What's funny is that I used 0420 for a tug door to share.
Yo that first clip is me! Where the credit at!
My bad, fixed
@@Gamesense1 😘
I rember when the code lock filth vid from soip came out
i love how it said 6 years ago in estonian
I love the istory!
Dude your content is amazing you dont steal or copy anyone AND you a making one of the best rust contents you are explaining everything about the history of rust. You are a legend keep going
I appreciate that! < 3
Are you zprotz? You sound like the same person
no i’m him
@@yessirskii1776no your not
I've guessed it with 6969 twice.
Bro no joke, I remember pissing off a 10 man and my base was just built. My duo goes afk and for 10 min these guys tried to get the key to my base, I was so lucky they were unlucky LOL
insiding is bad unless its vincent smg that you're insiding
Codelock exploit was strong.... but do you rememeber the craft command that allowed you to spawn unlimited C4 now that was hell week.
I made Python script which type codes automaticly. You just need to respawn and move under a door
Subbed
The timeline is a little off, the key lock change happened a while after soups code raid video. Awesome video though!
Is there a list of all codes ever that I can have
Do you have an alternate channel or something? You sound so familiar that it hurts my brian.
Zprotz
Ah of course :D
Is this zprotz? The resemblance is uncanny
Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best, why don't rust dev's puts 6 digits instead of 4? that would make the guessing exponentially harder and useless.
or if you don't want to edit the actual codelock, then add a new Tier 3 lock to the game, something more end-game.
The Tier 3 can use 6 digits or even better, can work with SteamID, some sort of "fingerprint" lock.
That’s funny about the credit card codes, cause it remember using my credit card code before in a rust base 😂😂😂 just don’t do it against kids cause they ain’t got no money 😂😂
love your shit keep it up
can confirm the nerf hit Console Rust as well.
Code raiding is just a brute force attack. Given enough time it will work, but you gotta have patience and your target has to be offline. But as you see in this video it is developing just like hacking in real life lol.
where are you form??
0:34 sus
9:30. Bruh I use my debit card code as my base code😭
WHEN DID THEY ADD LOCKPICKING!?
Here before this blows up
key raiding was so fucking fun
amazing video
Goat
Great video but uhhh Confuzion posted a video. THIS IS OUTDATED
Ngl bad timing but the "new method" wasnt really that crazy he just reaalized that the way he raided wasnt the most efficient
@@Gamesense1 I have a few video ideas.
1- The history of the bandit camp wheel. (The various exploits uncovered over the years)
2- The history of base building ( How building evolved)
3- The best player on console
4- Mini / scrappy tricks
The first idea id actually pretty good ngl
is this not zprotz?
