      @sd3falco Před rokem +1

      Right. I think I would like it more if the bridge wasn't so far up on the body. The body looks big for a short scale in my opinion.

    The original Rascal bass was a great instrument. The bridge/tailpiece were taken from a Guild design. When Fender sold Guild, they no longer had access to that Guild design, and the original Rascal was removed from production. Original Rascals currently sell for a pretty steep markup on the used market.

    • @guitarnutsanonymous7199
      @guitarnutsanonymous7199  Před rokem

      All true. I have actually played an original Rascal, and it was a great instrument... just not very "bass-y" in tone. But I'd certainly own one!

    Cool demo! Where you at in TN?

  • @r3b0rn80
    @r3b0rn80 Před rokem

    The body seems thin, could you measure the thickness ?
    Given the overall size of the instrument, they should have made it a 32 inch scale by moving the bridge further ‘outside’ the body.
    It would also improve the ergonomic for the right hand.
    I think I will go for the Squier Jaguar H and put a split coil with MM shaped size.
    Thank you for your video ✌️

  • @annihilation777
    @annihilation777 Před rokem +2

    I just don't know about having a short scale with a weird body shape. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of compact, portable ergonomic playing "mini" basses.

    • @cfibb
      @cfibb Před rokem

      I’m with you on that. Wish they’d made it more compact like the Mustang, with bridge farther away from neck pocket...but doing that might’ve lost a couple of frets. My Mustang PJ has only 19 frets but it is nice and short overall. I’ve been hunting for a short scale bass with a few more frets. To preserve the Rascal’s 21 frets whilst moving bridge/reducing overall instrument length, the body would have to be reimagined to have a deeper cutaway...perhaps like the Serek Midwestern 2. (Serek has 21 but is more compact because of bridge location. And pricier.) Despite g.a.s-ing pretty hard on the Serek, buying this Squire will save me about 3k! 😅 Although it probably won’t fit in a Mono guitar gig bag like the Mustang does which IS easier for overhead bins when traveling.🤔
      If there ends up being either an ergonomic issue or playability hindrance with the Paranormal Rascal’s length then I’ll just sell it. Apparently it’s a limited run on these Squires so maybe the value will hold. And maybe Fender will come up with something even better eventually.
