  • NEW TAMRON 70-300 f4.5-6.3 Di III RXD FULL FRAME LENS
    this lens has taken me by surprise. The fact that Tamron offers a budget telephoto lens for the Full Frame Sony cameras is just incredible. Specially with the release of the Sony A7c and older cameras like the A7iii or A7R series, this lens would pair well with. If you are a hobbiest or travel photographer, this lens might just be what you are looking for.
    Thank you to Justin for lending me this lens for review. I am by all means not sponsored with Tamron and these reviews are all my honest opinion.

    This video was what i had been looking for! Thank you so much for making this! Very well done! I'm going to be using this lens for a NFL game this Sunday paired with my A7SIII and I think it's going to work out great video wise for the content I'm creating. Gained a sub here. Thanks again!

    I agree and i have it with a7c. My preferred lens. Really fantastic with fast af, very good range, sharp. Tamron is great. Honestly. At this price. It is so good.

    Hey Jason, love listening to the knowledge you share! How do you think this would fare with the FX30? My only hold back on this lens is the lack of stabilization in the lens, though with the FX30 internal stabilization does it compensate well? Also if you could compare to the 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di lll... thinking about just going for that one. I should say I plan to use for more video use as well.

    Great review! Did u test the sony 70-300? In my country is really close in price in second hand to the tamron, and i think it will fix the cons with the oss and being able to lock the lens. Do u think the sony is a bit better?

  • @francissosingindyrcworldga8936

    Thank u for this review man. I love my 28-75 Tamron and seriously considering this one. I am very new to photography and video but a buddy of mine recently got the Tamron 28-200 and loves it. It's also a great price. Keep up the good work. Will definitely pick up this 70-300 soon.

    Thanks for this! I got the 17-28 and 28-75 from before on my A7C. Think this is gonna complete my collection, as I'm looking for a telephoto lens, and since Tamron is so wonderfully clever with their filter size I can use one variable ND-filter on all of em' 📸

    How well does it perform in darker settings? Notice all the footage I saw were mid day shots.

    • @JasonMorrisphotocinema
      @JasonMorrisphotocinema  Před 3 lety +4

      That's definitely a weak point due to not having a fast aperture. But i did mention it is common for large telephoto lenses to have a high aperture.

    • @jbello9398
      @jbello9398 Před 3 lety

      @@JasonMorrisphotocinema yes very common. I ordered it for my a7iii... I can't go wrong... it's light weight, and way cheaper than the other telephotos... I only need it for birding and wildlife.

    • @martin9410
      @martin9410 Před 3 lety

      This good file size, but where you are losing is on the aperture. For instance, if shooting at 300mm, your aperture would be equal to f9.45
      You would time the aperture by 1.5. So it would have to be extremely bright surroundings.

    BRO... excellent review. Love that you also don;t give a sh*t about it not being a GM lens lol. Too many people get caught up in that crap. You did a great job of demonstrating how great the bokeh actually is for this lens! I've got mine on order and can't wait to try it out now!

      @amitkrupal1234 Před 3 lety +1

      Strangely Sigma 100-400 is available at same price as Sony 70-300. I think lightweight(545 vs 1135 gms) is the USP of this lens. Many will prefer this. I am personally considering Sigma 100-400.

    Is this lens too much difference from 28-200mm? For wildlife?? Even in a crop sensor mode for a 7iii?

    • @JasonMorrisphotocinema
      @JasonMorrisphotocinema  Před 3 lety +1

      it performs very similar to the 28-200 lens. for overall versatility the 28-200 is a really good focal range if you want an all-rounder.

      I bought it in sales at $699 CDN dollars + taxes last year. This year it is $729+ taxes. it is much less in US dollars. In Europe everything cost more. I don’t know why. But with a official retailer we get extended 10 years of warranty. It was 6 years but they extended to 10. Be careful, the warranty is only for the first owner. So no warranty if you buy second hand. Sometime people said in their ads that it still has 10 years but it is false. It is only for the first owner. At this price it is recommended to buy brand new. (Be careful amazon US or Canada is not an official retailer so no warranty). in Canada, we have Henry’s official retailer.

    • @RohannvanRensburg
      @RohannvanRensburg Před 3 lety

      Based on reviews the Sigma is more consistently sharp on the corners throughout the range. Bear in mind your mileage may vary with AF, have seen some that say AF is slower. Aperture is slower too, so while there's OS you lose about half a stop of light for FL's under about 240mm.

    Debating between this and the sigma 100-400. This pros of this one would be the lighter build and better price point. Sigma is farther reach and good build but usually always heavier
