- Today, me and Jeremy decided to give my car an upgrade by installing a better air intake. We are not professional mechanics, so do not take anything we say seriously, but I hope that this video can guide others when installing this kit to their car.

Nice job, now get it tuned. My 308 1.6thp 2014 went from 125hp to 175hp. Downpipe with sportcat puts it over 200hp.

I used to own one of these! Mine would always leak oil from the cam chain tensioner 😅
A common fault on these cars... as we unfortunately experienced lol. Why couldn't they have used a belt instead? Anyone know why in the comments?
@@SneakyPikersGarage chains were supposed to last way longer. But they made it too small on this engine. As for the tentioner, just badly designed. But if you manage (or can afford) to fix it, it's a great engine.
What did you do with the air temp sensor on the intake just in front of the turbo?
We ended up ziptieing it so it doesn't fly around, it doesn't cause any check engine light on the dashboard or anything

Hey guys. Got inspired by the video and gave this a go myself! Only problem is it keeps slipping off the turbo no matter how tight I get the jubilee clip. Has yours loosened ?
Thank you for watching the video! We did experience the jubilee clip sliding off a few times. We found that the best way to secure it, is to make sure that the clip is pushed as far back as possible to the turbo intake. That's seemed to have solved the problem. Hopefully that should sort it out 👍

nice video was thinking about doing the same, im just so unimpressed by sounds of the ds3 when you had a C2 vts before it is just so silent... ie the reason i call my car the silent king :D

Hello! Nice job! Thinking of doing the same thing, did you get any warning lights on the dashboard? And what did you do with the unplugged sensor? And did you notice a power gain? Thank you in advance!
Hey, there was no warning lights on the dashboard after installing the air filter, and with the unplugged sensor, I just ended up zipting it to a hose, so it doesn't fly about. As for power, there was a subtle difference in the low end (since the turbo gets air quicker).

will increase hp on a cold day will decrease hp on a hot day, unless you fix a way to get cold air into the intake.

I’ve got a DS3 Racing and forge said it won’t fit is this a Racing or a normal one ??

Nice video. Have you had any issues with the timing chain on the DS3? They use the Prince engine, same as the 207 GT and RCZ which are plagued by that issue, among others.

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I think I have a slight issue with the timing chain, if you listen closely at 0:55, you can hear a rattle coming from the engine, that is the timing chain (I think), can also be a bad belt tensioner causing the belt to slap around which makes the noise. Hopefully this helps.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. There was no blow off valve installed, the turbo did that after we installed the air intake.

@@Kezeychesey for us, at least, it did. As there is no connection for the oxygen sensor, there may be a chance that a code could pop up on the dash like we had.

Hey buddy, it sounds amazing with this intake! I am looking forward buying a DS-3 1.6T. It would be really helpful for me if you want to share some details of the car. Is the fuel consumption low? I live in a city so I'll be mostly driving at low speeds (except some pulls of course 😉 ). I also want to know if it's reliable and how expensive are the repair costs for some fragile engine parts. This car's beautiful and fast for it's displacement ;)
Hey man, I was the owner of that DS3. The car is fast and good, but only if you're willing to keep putting money into it. As soon as I got it (I had already paid £5000 for the car), I ended up puttting another 1000 into it straight away. It was not a reliable car at all, It's a fun car, but not reliable. If you still want to get one, I'd suggest either getting a brand new one or one with as little mileage as possible. My one had 55k miles and it just ended up dying on me (constant misfire, check engine light, oil pressure light), it was a nightmare.
Fuel consumption was okay, If you didn't rag it, you'd be good, It's nice around the city because it's a small car, so you don't have to worry much about parking etc.
@@Destinator My pops ownes a Citroen C5 model of 2010, it's so comfortable and it feels great driving it. A guy in my neighborhood owns one, and I find it very stylish. It's quite fast too. In Greece (that's where I live) used cars are very expensive. I found some DS-3s (2010-2012) up for 7000€ - 9000€ (~6000£ - ~8000£) with over 90k km (close to your car when you bought it ~55k miles). I will keep pushing to find a good one, with a great engine health, but I'll be a pain in the ass. Thanks for your time and fast response mate! Keep working on the car, it deserves it just for the looks!
Allmost 100% of all DS3 THP sold has timing chain that is loose, you NEED to buy it from a car shop that sells it with guarantee. It wont come up on any computer tests and it will pass MOT with it. You have to know what to look for what it sounds like and so on. Same problem with the Mini from the same generation.

The sound you hear comes from the direct injection
@@theilluminatimember8896 in conjunction with a loose timing chain slapping about; a common fault on this car. We learned that the hard way 😬
it is silent duo to the silencer on the exhaust from the factory.
