  • Today I start work on the 1952 Advanced Design Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton pick-up truck. This truck has a 235 six cylinder engine. I've owned this pickup for 25 years and it's been 20 years since I last started the engine.

      Hello GTA. The truck is in better shape than I originally thought. I think its going to be quick fixes. Every Saturday you will see a new truck video. On Wednesdays I will post chicken and my last boiler video. I am pretty sure I want to start it this week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Another great video Ovi. You’ll have to swing over when you get that up and running. I keep saying I need to get working on my 2 project cars, but that’s as far as it goes lol!
    As for the shopping - yes I sit in the car. And malls, I stay home, lol. Tina takes forever and one time in Johnstown a Karen called the police on me while I was waiting in the car over an hour! We have family in every law enforcement agency locally, when they showed up they said “ oh, hey Aaron, is Tina shopping again” lol

      @@oviduran so I have a Mercedes that is not actually a classic but more of a daily driver. It did need some rust work done, but we took it off the road about four years ago because my mother was driving it and she was getting pretty dangerous! So I started doing the rust repairs, but now it just sits in the body shop.
      Then there is the 1959 Volkswagen beetle. This car has a huge backstory to it. In a nutshell, I restored it in high school and painted it hot pink for my high school sweetheart. We parted ways in our 20s and I wasn’t about to drive a pink car lol. So I actually did a nice paint job on it, black with flames. Then when the, true fire paint jobs became popular, I wanted to repaint it. I started to strip the paint off, but at the time I was running the body shop and I never had time to finish it so it is stored away. Someday I’d like to finish it With a Mike Lavallie style real fire, airbrushed paint job!

    Ovi, nice truck. The wire that you showed in the beginning may be burning because your truck used to be a 6-volt system and now has a 12 volt battery. You may need to add a resistor (or resistor wire) in order to reduce the current flowing through the wire.

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Correct, this truck was converted from 6v to a 12v system sometime in the 90's by a previous owner. It did have some type of resistor right where I showed in the video but that burned up. The fusible link I showed is sometimes called a fusible resistor. I am also contemplating installing a 12 AWG inline fuse holder which is probably better because I can install and replace blown fuses when necessary. The question for the fuse holder would be "what size fuse?".

      I will need to get a few gaskets for it so it doesn't leak, but you saw those cylinders, they are squeaky clean after 20 years of just sitting.

      Thanks, these trucks are sought after now. I've seen some being worked on that are in bad shape. I've thought about an engine swap, maybe to an SP350 which is something low key but with plenty of reliable power. The only problem with this is that with an engine swap the transmission would have to be replaced, as well as the front end. I currently have a solid axle in the front and this would require some serious work and money which is out of my budget now. But its possible and will keep in mind. Keep looking for the C10 or F100, sometimes deals show up unexpected.

    Have you used Marvel Mystery oil treatment, I put it in my engine & gas tank, but not sure if it can be used with diesel.

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před 3 měsíci +2

      I contemplated putting Marvel Mystery oil in the cylinders if the engine was stuck, but I don't have to because the pistons are free. Many people use it as an additive to their fuel to clean engines and fuel systems and also to their oi to prevent sludge. And yes, it can be used with tractors and diesel. I may start using it in the future. How do you like it so far? Have you noticed a difference?

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před měsícem

      The size of battery for our trucks is Group Size 75. I picked one up at Walmart for under 100 bucks. It is 690 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). The higher the CCA’s the better. I haven’t installed my battery yet but will soon. So many other projects…

    BF Goodrich is the best looking tire for those original Corvette rally wheels

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před 3 měsíci +1

      This time I got basic truck tires for it. However, I always contemplated getting 18 or 20 inch American Racing wheels that would look awesome on this truck. And then get the nicer tires like the BF G's.
