I just picked up my 2022 Ninja 400 and your videos have been so helpful teaching me the ropes of my first bike. You are so patient and I feel as if you are talking to me in person. Fantastic videos.
Hell ya Chris. Excellent choice with the bike brother.

@SunGymLive I am buying a ninja 400 in 2025
glad you showed me, cuz its like riding a bucking bronc on my 400 when you down shift
YESSSS I'm glad I could help brother!!!!!
😄
For real 🤣
I am struggling with this, so I am supposed to press the clutch then rev up to match, shift the release the clutch quickly? When I do it tge bike raises a bit.
@@mohammedaamir4v972 dont rev it high, just like bump the throttle at the same time you down shift ...just pop the throttle about an inch and downshift at the same time
Its crazy how the sound effects make you understand more lmao great vid
Thanks man
Sun... you are an excellent educator. Great video and tutorial
Thanks brother!
Just bought a 2021 Ninja 400. I am a brand new rider and I've being watching your videos and learning a lot. Also will make same modifications you've done. Thanks for the content.
Jorge CONGRATS are your 2021 NINJA brother. My pleasure brother ty for the support!
@@SunGymLive What exhaust do you have on your 400? I just took mine out for the first time and I will definitely need to change the exhaust out. currently doing some online research.
Nice video.I have a Vulcan 500 that practically shares the same engine with the Ninja. Great to hear what rev matching should sound like.
Thank you for the vid 🙏🏽 I thought rev matching was complicated but you made it seem so easy I can’t wait to try it out
Your welcome! It takes a while to get that muscle memory!
It worth to do rev match 1 smoother 2 less wear on the clutch am I right ?
@@jonathonpursell1268yes
@@jonathonpursell1268also faster gear shifts
I’m definitely gonna learn to Rev match when I get my first bike, it looks a lot easier than doing it the other way. This video definitely helped me understand a lot more! I really appreciate and enjoy your content 😁
Bro thank you so much. Other people's instructions confused me because I hear you need to do all 3 operations seperately by milliseconds. But doing them all at once makes sense and I can easily do it now. Thank you !!
My pleasure
I know I'm a bit late, but just happened upon your video today, and let me say this - this is some of the best blipping downshifts I've seen on Utube. And I cracked up when you made those little noises a couple of times. Hilarious!!! You are good! Thanks for the video. Really well done!
My pleasure brother
This was the best explanation of this I have found that actually helped me thanks dude👍
No problem 👍
Great video I know nothing about motorcycles and I am going to be learning from a friend and getting my permit. I learned a lot from this ! Can’t wait till I have a beginner motorcycle 🤝
Hell ya!
Spartan checking in! Gonna come in handy when I get my bike 🏍 thanks king 👑
np BOOBOO
I so also recht Match in my Ninja 400 although the bike has the system as Hondas anti-hopping clutch so your bike doesn’t block your back wheel. That’s why rev matching exists in first place
thank you super helpful, once I past my msg course in end of October I be getting my new ninja 400 2021 or 2022 but your videos are super helpful
Great choice! What color you plan on getting?
I hear it ! Load and clear! So smooth!
👍
Another great detailed video! Great job! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@SunGymLive Definitely! Do you have a direct contact for more info? I was about to purchase a bike from Venom motorsports that was fully automatic, but decided to learn how to shift gears and now about to purchase one of the 2023 ninja 400s soon!
Loving the sound effects
Thanks brother
Rev matching is quality riding .. life without quality is just junk .. thumbs up Young King and good lesson brother ;]
ty old king.
literally needed this thank you
HELL YA glad I could help!
6:17 the pop ... It gives me chills
I'm with you on that one
Cool video lad! 400s are awesome !
ty brother!!!!
You can do the same without the clutch as well. Slightly more advanced but something to work your way into eventually. Good video for the newer riders! Sub’d
Ty brother. Ya clutches shifting will be done in the future :)
@No_Name don't worry...it's not a Harley.
My Bro! I only watch the first 1:30 of the video and i had to like it 👍🏿 great editing and explanation really helpful and highly appreciated!💪🏿Ride Safe Everyone!
Thanks brother
I just recently got a 400
and your videos are USEFUL AF
now my problem is, I make sound efx too when I use the throttle HAHAHAHAHA
The bike I wanna buy with an amazing color to boot. Thanks for the lesson.
My pleasure
The boom boom boom would have been hilarious w the yoga guy from couples retreat 😭
That bicep vein looking menacing😂
thanks brother
The Ninja400 has a slipper clutch, so rev matching is not necessary. At least that's what I've been told. It's ok to do and a good skill to have, nice video and the bike sounds good
Slipper clutch means nothing except for the fact that it’s made for rev matching especially if you don’t have auto blip
So in basic terms, when you down shift the motor wants to rev at higher RPM than it did the gear before, so you just up the RPM yourself while clutch is in before the motor has to. They should have auto throttle blip on the gear shifter.
Correct
Thank you. I didn't know that. New rider here. I have a 2021 Z400
That's an awesome bike brother
Nicely compiled
Thanks!
this was the easiest explanation i have ever seen for rev matching
🙏
the sound effects are my favorite
😅
Thanks for the teaching! I am using the same slip on as yours. Do you have gas leaking on the connection between slip-on and mid-pipe when you rev the bike?
Not a problem brother!!!! NO leaking issues on our end brother.
I learned something new everyday thanks man
Hell ya!
Just got my 400 and I know this is going to help so much!!! Thank you again brother your videos are my favorite 😤💪🤍🙌
Happy to help!

I'll try :)
Another reason for an up and down quick shifter. 😎😎
Maybe one day!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Dude you sound so much like a calmer version of H2ODelerious
Is that a good thing?
Thank you!
You're welcome!
bro strong as hell
thanks brother!
I certainly wouldn’t want my bike to lurk on me. I think he was trying to say lurch
LURCHHHH lol
Oh my god I always understood rev matching but never understood how I always held the clutch in for a sec shifted up then let out clutch but it’s just 1 fast motion I would like not to hurt my car and bike so I just stoped with breaks and never tryed you expand so well thx
My pleasure
For beginners.... we're taught not to let the clutch out so fast. It seems you're letting that thing right back out all the way. Do you have to do this in order to revmatch? Or can we let the clutch out slower? Obviously I can try this myself, but explaining would help other riders I'm sure.
VERY TRUE. I have a ' how to ride ' video coming out this week and it talks about beginners should SLOWLY let out the clutch. When you rev match you don't slowly let it out.
usually you only need to slowly let it out when you're trying to take off from a start, once you're moving you can start to speed up your shifts
how fast speed up ?

Your downshifts are so fucking crisp, I need that shit in my life. Before I go ride my ninja 400 I'll watch this whole thing again cause damn your good.
BROOOO Ty!! You got this shit just a little practice BOOM BOOM BOOM!
@Jaxon Suede Its much different than my gsxr 600 but same concept is applied.
@@SunGymLive yeah, I personally like clutches with more bite but it works fine so whatever. Bro I rev match pretty good now, thanks for the help. Just need a new exhaust🤩. Looking at akrapovic, yoshi, m4, leo vince, and sc project. How much did you spend on your lv-10? I kinda dont want a super loud exhaust and ik the LV-10 is like the loudest.
@@LazymanPlaysMC I think we spent around 200 bucks. Just be careful some aftermarket exhaust that I've seen hardly change the sound. YOU ARE CORRECT this is probably the loudest. The cars will hear you though which is always a good thing :)
0:29 sick pump bro.
Lol ty man should check us out on twitch daily fitness streams /sungym
So do you give that little bit of throttle before the bike enters the lower gear or immediately after its in the lower gear
i have 2018 ninja 400, where can i buy the gray paint to fix a paint chip?
Thanks bro
My pleasure
I think he means lurch and it's getting at me.
Correct
Did my dawg zoom into the mirror to show his arm in the beginning 😂
I did :)
Wish I knew this when I had my z400 with the same exhaust.
What do you have now?
@@SunGymLive nothing. Ordered a 2021 yamaha mt07 in February and still waiting on it.
@@gnesmond Oh now we talking brother!!!
Can you skip the gear tho? Example 4 down to 2 with only one clutch pull and revmatch
Good job 👏
Thanks brother!!!!!
0:30 bros veins are CRAZY lol
All I do when riding mine is let up on the throttle little bit and let the cycle slow down a bit to let the rpms come into range of the next lower gear and slowly let up on the clutch and downshift to next lower gear, slowly release clutch and boom, no forward lurching. I suppose everyone else to their own but for me, no throttle necessary.
Awesome video. Question do you pre-load the shifter before pulling the clutch in and blipping?
thanks brother and no I do not pre-load the shifter. You would do that for CLUTCHLESS shifting.
@@SunGymLiveCool, thanks bro. After rolling of the throttle, I clutch in & kick down, then blip. Just making sure there wasn't a a better way then how I've been doing it lol.
@@Nemo0610 As long as you blip while the clutch is in you will be fine. If you blip to soon or to late you are going to jump forward :)
@@SunGymLive Got it.. I can do it like coming to a stop, but not a quickly as you demonstrated... I'll practice this over the weened lol
It won't "lurch" or jump forward when downshifting, the bike will jerk back (slower) due to engine braking.
YOU are correct
In every turn should I press the clutch lever?
I assume when you rev match to upshift, it’s the opposite motion with the throttle and shifter?
No need to rev match on an upshift.
smooth baby
SMOOOOOOTH BABY!
Had to zoom in on the bicep rq 💀
Had to
okay just got back from a ride and gave this a try, my downshifting absolutely improved! fellow beginners, if you don't yell BOOM it wont work ;P
BOOOM!
youre jacked man
Got an old ass ninja 300 till I get my full license (stupid Australian laws) and this would be nice to learn for life I reckon
What exhaust system?
natural in the gym and a natural on a bike... Ride on Brother *sungymsalute*
Ty Jocky boy!!! Brother wait for the next one. QUEEN ON THE ROAD for the first time :)
@@SunGymLive I will be waiting Brother :) Ride oN
so when you downshift you roll on the throttle a lil and when you go up go roll off the throttle

I can’t multitask 😫😂 this gon be hard for me
The pump bro had was ridiculous, he could have to the bike on his back if he wanted to
LOL appreciate that
1:23 when you're just inside vs when you're done 🤣🤣
Which exhaust is this? It sounds great! Great video
Leo Vince
Nice explanation, be working on this today! Is she having any issues with it? After 1 1/2 years with my bike, an accident with 2 broken ribs and a snapped collar bone (riding with 2 broken ribs from the week before at the time because I have trouble riding an office chair too) and no longer trying to keep up with him on his 636, back to basics. Keep em coming!
She is doing very well with the rev matching. Sometimes she is still a bit jerky but she is learning fast. How did your accidents happen?
@@SunGymLive so there were 2 and both on curves faster roads when I was too inexperienced to be there and trying to keep up with BF. Healed, fixed the bike with a few new parts and new fairings and started over. Still follow him a little but not on harder and faster back roads, turned OFF the intercom so not to have to have him bark at me and I am doing it all at my own pace now. I listen to my head banger music, practice in parking lots and when we are out together tell him to leave if I am too slow because I know the way home. And the accident I got so hurt should never have happened. I laid it down because i freaked out going 40 plus in a curve going into another one, took my eyes off the turn to look at the next turn and him speeding away from me and went into a bit of hard dirt. Just needed to roll off the throttle and get back in the road. Nope, too inexperienced.
@@motoninjaprincess9279 MAN thanks for sharing the 2 stories. FOR SURE we have to ride our own ride. In one of my OLDER vids this guy was going so freaking fast and weaving in and out of traffic I was like f this I cant keep up LATER. I'm glad you are recovered and strong enough to get back on!!!!
@@SunGymLive saw that video, crazy!
Nothing sexier than rev match
100% correct on that!
😂 😂 😂 at the bicep zoom in. U little my guy.
jk bro. Keep the gains up and nice bike
ty ty brother! :)
Not using the rev matching is good when you want to use the motor breaking right?
Engine breaking is when you let off the throttle the bike will slow down for you. If your in 5th gear and you let go of the throttle you will slow down but you are still in 5th gear. You need to change gears as you drop in speed whether its rev matching or shifting normal.
Do you use the back brake when rev matching cuz it doesn't look like u use front brake , OR as u stop reving u just slow down and u don't necessarily use any brake??
Neither the front break or the back break is applied. Like you said maybe some engine breaking in there.
Ninja 400 has a slipper clutch, so you shouldn't be having much need for this unless you are just cramming the gears.
you really had to flex those biceps 🤣
Had to
Can you rev match up like you do down ?
Hey, question. How would you recommend breaking a bike in? What is your method?
First 500 miles take it easy on her. Make sure to go through all the gears and try not to stay in a single gear for a long time. With that being said if you just ride it like you stole it you would probably be just fine.
are they good for short people who are 5ft 1
Mahn your muscle💪💪💪💪💪
1:24 Sound effects😂😂🤣
Damn king is like a master now huh?
We trying brother!
What exhaust is this? I bought a 400 from a guy that installed a full 2 brothers exhaust it’s too damn loud this is nice
Pretty much any short exhaust on this bike is going to be LOUD AF
doesn't the shift have to be done a fraction of a second after you rev match and squeeze the clutch, or am I literally aiming for it all to be done at the same time?
same time brother!
when you downshift at speed do you not need to release the clutch slowly?
Not if your rev matching you do it quickly. If you are not rev matching you would do it slowly as you bring up the rpms to match the gear you are shifting into OR just downshift when your going at the appropriate speed for that gear.
@@SunGymLive So instead of just downshifting and releasing the clutch slowly, what’s the benefit of rev matching and downshifting?
(sry i’m a beginner lol)
@@SunGymLive So instead of just downshifting and releasing the clutch slowly, what’s the benefit of rev matching and downshifting?
(sry i’m a beginner lol)
@@mohsinanjarwala9645 Rev matching is when you are going fast and want to down shift quickly. You might have heard it before on a bike or a manual car but it would be like Vroom Vroom Vrooooom quick blips as the person is down shifting. Lets see you are on the interstate and want to pass a car. You would down shift (rev match) quickly so you can speed around them faster instead of doing things slowly.
I try to do the same motion but the bike seems to bog me forward.
Am I putting to little throttle or too much?
Probably not enough throttle. Its much easier doing it at higher speeds and it takes a while to get the timing right. But once you get it you wknt forget it
What model is it? Because I’m thinking of getting the 2023 model but this one is also nice
Oh nvm I just read the end of the title😅
