In this video I go through 3 reasons why I decided to do a low buy year this year as well as 5 rules that I will try to follow. The Low buy challenge was inspired by 2 great CZcamsrs - @UseLess as well as @StyleApotheca. These ladies are incredible inspiring to me with regards to being sustainable with my consumption choices.
I give you some facts along with my reasons for the low buy challenge, why I am not doing no buy challenge, and how I hope to become a more conscious consumer and a more ethical consumer through doing this low buy challenge.

This video really resonates with me. Thank you for your honesty about comparing yourself to others. I definitely struggle with this and it is NO GOOD, it leads to so much discontent. I have found myself filling my life with things thinking it will bring happiness and it ultimately DOES NOT. In fact it is a vicious cycle of once it's obtained it's right on to the next thing...exhausting! A low buy year was one of my New Year's resolutions for this reason and many of the reasons you mentioned. Sadly, I didn't do as well in January as I would have liked, so this video/challenge is helping me to get back on track. Thank you!
I'm glad you are re-inspired to continue :) Not comparing is tough....I'm trying not to do it but I cannot, so instead, it is good to focus on what makes you happy. For me, it is making these video that I think will keep me on track. Also running after a busy toddler will take care of the shopping habit!
I loved hearing about your reasons for doing a low buy. I'm doing a no buy this year for similar reasons. I want to be more sustainable and get out of the habit of always searching for new things. Good luck to you!

@@CoolSustainable No, I've never done a low buy but I have done failed no buys before. I started this no buy in November and so far it's going really well.

As for the #lowbuy #nobuy, I've been consciously buying pre-loved, second- hand clothing, shoes, jewelry, furniture, etc for many years.
Honestly, most of my absolute favorite wardrobe pieces & eclectic furnishings are second-hand 🙌🏽 🔆

Wow, you have made my day! Such a thoughtful comment on here - I adore it! The whole purpose of this channel is to document my own journey, of course, but to also bring awareness to these issues to a wider audience. There is not single most important issue to our generation than the well-being of our planet. So, I hope that by talking about all these issues, others might alter their behaviours as well. And yes, my most worn pieces are all vintage/second hand! I love a piece with a story.
