She's qualifying all of these because further investigation may reveal there are other reasons for these tells. A man might be taught by his parents to always have a firm handshake, which neutralizes that as a clue. Or say you meet someone at a cafe & they are brusque with the waitstaff: it may not be due to personality, but because that person is preoccupied with some important matter. (This would be the case with someone who is brusque with the waitstaff yet leaves a generous tip.)
These are all bits of a puzzle, which needs to be assembled & studied before any firm judgment is made. None should be used in isolation.

      it's extremely telling.
for the same reasons as how people treat people who can't talk yet &/or of other species is:
these are all opportunities to show empathy without the motivation being an expectation of the usual levels of accountability.
unfortunately, the best tell is how someone treats someone whom they have good and used to them plus locked into a sense of personal loyalty & a marriage contract with no good prenup.

so true btw this reminds me of the time me and my broke friends went to a restaurant and when the bill came to $66 we paid and my friend tipped the waitress his bus fare by accident we tried to give her a lot of tip because how she approached us was really good and she was so sweet and nice. We gave her $12 and it was long after my mum came and stuff in the gc later he said he didn't have his bus fare lol. But we lived in the opposite direction and it was like 8:00 in the night. Eventually my other friend used his card and paid for him.

Bro, I always treat service staff well. I know what it’s like to work hard, so I appreciate and respect everybody. Cashiers, receptionists, wait staff, everybody.
On the very rare occasion that I go out to eat with mates, I always ask for things politely, wait patiently, clean up after myself, and if the staff are super cool, I’d leave a good tip (we don’t really tip here in Australia).

Thanks for realizing that like most people think, it isn't just "that damn phone". My phone is my escape.
Online I have a broader pool of people to choose from, and it's way easier to find people my age that I really like than it is to find people in my small community irl where I have scars down my arms and am awkward as all hell. I've found amazing people that I connect with and that are easier to share with/get to know than people irl. They make me feel validated and loved as much as anybody. Yes, I have educated myself on online safety and keep myself safe.
Yeah, drama happens online and friends are lost. But guess what? It happens irl too.
Or sometimes I just need my phone to help take my mind off all the crap going on around me...

Punctuality is a good way to show consideration for others, rather than letting them sit and wonder what happened to you, if you're going to show up, etc. and wasting their time, especially in a professional type of situation or regarding appointments, as a lackadaisical attitude toward being on time can be indicative of unreliability, regardless of how much stuff you've got going on; at least call and let them know if you're going to be late, which is indicative, again, of consideration for the other person. That tells a lot about you.

Out of millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes, and only less than 5k views in this page, I decided to write to acknowledge the person or persons that took the time to do the video, script and design.. then post it, and created a bibliographic reference for the content shared. That's a lot of commitment, responsibility and love for what they do just because they can. How amazing is that? Impossible not to recognize excellence where we see one. It's a common trait in our society. And even less common in a group of people with common goals. Great teamwork @Psych2go!

Number 7 might also be a person who was never exposed to the culture of getting smth for someone else. Especially if that person is from a consistently abusive family. It's not nice to only paint people negatively because of this one thing they never learned to do

So true, @Rika Okumura: I concur on that one. I was adopted into a very macabre family. I'm nothing like them, but as I said in my own lengthy comment....this video seems bias and likely only guinea-pigged almost perfect specimens for this study.

I was never really given gifts or had a birthday celebrated so because of that I make sure I’m always giving when possible on regular days and birthdays to family, friends or strangers it’s a learned trait. i want a person to feel like they matter because growing up I felt like I didn’t. And I never want a person to have that feeling.

    • @Eli7owls
      @Eli7owls Před 3 lety +10

I wasn’t abused but I still feel like that’s a cultural thing. It can be nice to get people things if you have the money and there’s no reason not to, but some people weren’t raised to believe you should always get gifts for others even if you can hardly afford what you get for yourself.

@@Eli7owls Nobody should ever feel they must gift to someone. My adoptive mum was very cruel to me yet she "bought" so-called friendship with others her whole life. She even did this with my own children. It got so bad that when she was w/o a job, she refused to visit my kids because she felt she had to bring them a gift each time.
When she finally showed up 2 months later, my daughter answered the door and refused to let her in because her mei/nana had NO gift. I wanted to be angry with my daughter, but I realized it was NOT my child's fault...it was her mei's. This is why I deeply wish others to know that your existence in someone's life is priceless on its own. Never let anyone make you feel as if you must pay to be around them or be their friend....such expectations are NOT friendship!
I hope this helps anyone that is in doubt of their own self-worth.

I’m too busy thinking about science and Mathy stuff when I’m out and about on my own. I’ll often not hear people say my name or not notice something that needs to be noticed because I’m so lost in my own head. I feel bad but it’s also like I can’t really help it, I really hope no one thinks I’m selfish for that. I’m not selfish, I’m just unaware!

I purposefully changed a lot of these things about myself, and I think it had the effect on me but in reverse... I have no clue whether this is normal or not but I made my handshakes more firm and I force myself to make uncomfortable eyecontact in an attempt to seem more outgoing and enthusiastic. I do believe I am quite neurotic and I have struggled with trauma and mental illness quite dramatically in my life, but eversince I changed things like the firmness of my handshake and my eye contact, I have gotten better and better at doing those things without thinking about it and I feel that now that I have changed those things I have somehow become more outgoing and self-confident. Is this normal? It kind of reminds me of a study saying that forcing yourself to smile can make you happier, even though we often think that being happy comes before the smile.
