You know, even though this doesn't look all that great, I'm still happy about these old games getting a second chance. That's how I got the Pac Man World remake, Baten Kaitos HD and Etrian Odyssey on the Switch, haha ❤
You can't compare those games with this complete shit.
Isn't the slower hold fire rate specifically because of the caged fairies? It makes sense that they make you pick between a rapid fire rate by mashing or getting the bonus of the additional fairy charge attack.
You get a slower fire rate while "charging" up the fairies. In the Dreamcast game you had to hold the fire button for 1 1/2 seconds to charge the fairies to attack some random targets. In the remade game the charge time is quick and coupled with the visual lock on feature, so you are not restricted to the slow fire rate.

Not quite the Starfox killer we were all hoping for, but I do love me a good on-rails shooter
They seem to have been largely forgotten (like 3D platformers) and it's a shame...

It was never meant to be a “Starfox” killer as this was the 2nd and only other game to do this gameplay style full time (the series is more known for the other entries that are basically more similar to horizontal shmups)

I was always curious about this series but I could never really figure out the best title to begin with...
Cotton Rock and Roll/Fantasy or Cotton Reboot are both fantastic. Reboot includes the original game as well.

I got it and its pretty good. Its important to know what you're getting into with this... rail shooter, with throwbacks to the sidescrolling games and one similar pov genesis game.
It sounds like I would regret it, but I cannot deny my love for those visuals and those sounds! Great Stuff, as always!

It is really nice to have the anime aesthetic and better controls. Really an improvement over the Dreamcast original, I guess. A nice remake in a sense.

The translation was done by the dreamcast translation team! The same translation was released on dreamcast a couple years ago!

I got it because its basically near lost media.
Not really lost media, this game is pretty popular in the dreamcast scene, this is actually the Dreamcast fan translation used in the remaster!

This looks way to difficult for me, but always nice to see old games become available in modern platforms. Now if only they could add more of my GBC and GBA childhood favorites to the online subscription.

Got my physical copy on order. Imported the original on Dreamcast back in the day and got enjoyment out of it.
Not my favourite Cotton game, but it is an interesting change. Review is good, bit better than average, fine not amazing!

Not my favorite Cotton, but i snatched it up immediately. Plays better than the Dreamcast version, and gets pretty challenging!

I had half an eye on this, but after watching this review, I'll be passing this up. I'll put my £20 towards something else.
Prob could have done with this one staying on the Dreamcast 🤣 and for some reason why did I think rainbow cotton was already on the switch?
You probably got it mixed up with the Megadrive version which shares a similar perspective
The cutscenes look so good! But the in-game graphics and the gameplay... Because of that it is a hard pass for me.

Hazelnut hex is a much better shooter involving a witch. Plus it’s only 8 bucks👍

You don’t need to button mash at all, you can hold the fire button down, you just don’t fire as fast doing so.
Looks like a ploddy mess for this kind of shooter. Space Harrier made a better fist of it all the way back in the 80s (and it's only a couple of quid on Switch when it frequently goes on sale). Cheers for the review.

No that wasn't Holden'a argument. Imprecise controls and a lack of precision from them means at that in the later stages it's very unbalanced. At least, that's what I heard. Mark

That's interesting. Here I am thinking they are extremely charming and aged beautifully. Just curious what your age is? I'm in my late 30s so I have nostalgia for these kind of graphics. It's probably an age thing.
I am in my mid 40s and to be honest I much prefer pixel art to PS1/2 3D graphics.

@@aperturius I am aware of that, but did you notice the "remastered"? I am fairly sure it is going to run way better, with improved graphics on everything else out there (as are all of the other multiplatform ports/remasters/remakes out there). Hence, I stay at my original stand. Care to continue the argument?
