I bought one last summer coming back to the sport after a few years away and very out of shape. it was amazing to put down laps and stay engaged in the fun side well building endurance. If more older riders started out this way you would see many fewer people drop out after a season or two.
Great review. In my 20’s I was in the best shape of my life…loved mountain biking and spent a lot of time at Fortune. After taking a 20 year break and now being in my 40’s and more of a weekend warrior meaning not in the greatest shape I got to say when I bought my first EMTB I honestly felt like I was back in my 20’s. I love my Giant E-Trance Pro. I love the range I can get while still pushing myself to my own limits and hill climbs are effortlessly easy which makes my ride so much more enjoyable. It’s a bit more challenging to ride in the technical trais however, I rode Monique’s for the first time in many years with this bike and I got to say it blew my mind… I felt in control the entire ride and like a giant kid again.

Hey Chris! Interesting vid. While in Switzerland this summer I borrowed a Cube e-MTB just to test the concept on the crazy steep and endless switchback roads I normally do (with much pain and suffering!) on the father-in-law's beast of a Scott "wanna be an MTB" city bike. Bottom line was much like your experience: I burned thru the hills like nothing and arrived at the far end of the climb (that I never managed to do on the reg bike) mostly full of energy to enjoy my backpack full of baguette, cheese and chocolate ;) But given that the original point was indeed pain and suffering (in a good way!) I found the only real advantage to the e-assist was the ability to go much farther than I normally would, without expending much effort. Yes, there was some legwork involved but at most maybe 20% of normal, with the assist setting set to 2nd-lowest. So the experiment was successful if only because it reaffirmed my lack of interest in owning an e-bike...but would definitely borrow/rent again in the future of the circumstances called for it. They're bloody unreal! I got one at the start of the year and it's the best training tool. When I'm too cooked from training or building to get a decent ride in the ebike makes sure I still get some time in the saddle. You definitely get used to the power delivery and how they handle with the extra weight.

Now ride a Nox with the Sachs rs motor . it has 112 Nm that is accessible at low rpm's (40 to 60 ) .
i have the bosch cx also and the Sachs destroys it on steep hills
I think of them as a better option than my dirt bike. They are way more flickable and less noise. I tried a trek rail 5 ebike and I was bewildered on the places i could ride compared to my analog bike.
I will definitely be getting one in my future.
Have you tried the trek? Vs the sight? Any thoughts?

I am in truble to buy Sight A1, i like slow and trials climbing and riding...feel likes it's too long and heavy bike..not to far to my Scott Ransom anyway...what do you think?
The Sight A1 is a great bike. If you end up finding it too heavy you could try putting some carbon wheels on it and that’ll make it feel a bit more lively.
@@CapitalMTB thank you very much. Honestly i was i trouble beetween Sight and Fluid because my skills are 50% slow trials downhill and 50% medium enduro. Considering 1700 euro price difference, i would go to Fluid but i am not sure about 130mm rear travel in the +50cm drops🤔🤔🤔
I think the fluid is a great option too, it really depends on how gnarly your trails are. If you do a lot of trail xc and some light enduro riding I’d go for the fluid and maybe swap out the for for a Marzocchi Z1, Rockshox Lyrik or fox 36 then It would be super capable but not overwhelming on the more mellow trails. The Sight can feel a bit long and can be overkill.

So I’ve seen other videos of this bike battery rattling out and shutting the bike off any other issues?
I was only able to ride the bike once so I can’t really say. On my ride there was a bit of rattle but nothing felt loose.
Have you tried any other eMTB's since this? Or have you looked into any models other than the Sight VLT?
I'll be 40 next month and am planning to buy an eMTB next spring. Truth be told, I'm that weekend warrior, out of shape but enjoy getting out into the trails each weekend. The main benefit I'm looking at for getting one is to make our rides longer. The guy I mostly ride with we tend to hit our physical limits with a 2 hour ride. That's great if we just want a short weekend morning ride in Gat Park, Larose, or SMH, but we have come to enjoy exploring riding areas outside the capital. But when you're physically limited to 2hour rides, it's difficult to justify the 1.5-2hr one-way commutes to places such as MSM, Oka, and Rigaud. We still do it because it's fun, but we'd like to really longer runs on the bike. I plan to keep my "acoustic" or "amish" MTB for days we plan short rides, or want to do lift days at Vorlage/MSM, or just want to have some fun in SMH with a lighter, more nimble bike.
Last week we were riding Missing Link up to Pink Lake, on the way back down we got to a short technical climb I was dreading with my legs really feeling the days ride. One guy we ride with who has an eMTB let me try his, and it was night and day, I went up the climb feeling like I could go all day.
I haven’t really but they seem to be getting better and better. Keep your eyes peeled for sales theses days as a lot of companies have too much inventory. I’m also seeing a lot pop up on the used market.

I’d say it’s a good buy! Personally I’m still riding an acoustic bike for the foreseeable future but this is a great e bike option for sure

E-mtb motor quality & reliability, is all about...marketing. And I been in that business for decades. Each brand is gonna claim to be the best. And CZcams "Professional," reviewers are gonna make exotic delusional claims of how good a motor is, despite the fact they only have the bike for a couple days. Long term reviews are very rare. And no reviewer wants to give a bad review as they won't be receiving the product again and they may lose their endorsement or sales rights. It's how you treat the bike. Riding-it in various weather conditions or just nice Summer days. Do ya savagely abuse the bike on enduro/singletrack or just for commuting-light XC trails. I've used Bosch, Brose, Bafang, Yamaha, and recently the shimano EP6. All, work gloriously with minor motor adjustments and replacing the very limited range Li-Ion battery, as I ride throughout the Winters. My only issue is for the price, motors need to be completely waterproof. The EP8, is definitely the best for that category. And a needed replacement for those dirty(mining Lithium is extremely polluting process), very time-consumed charging, short lasting batteries. The EP8 and surprisingly the Bafang M510, each with over five-thousand miles, has given me the least-of-issues.
Well put! I was more so focusing on the general ride quality in relation to regular pedal bikes as those are what I ride 99% of the time. This was more of a general impressions video and less of a review too.
Acoustic bikes are just mountain bikes.
