I still use a set of hart audio cables from like 5 years ago. Sucks they're harder to get now as the creator got ill a while back, but they are perfect to me. The connection is really strong, can swap just the headphone portion, whatever color you want, and it's a really smooth connection without sharp edges.
shiddd my corrupt government is still holding my hart cables at customs
@kato2395 imagine finding a set of wires a national threat. XD
@@Skylancer727 Dunno man perhaps the star and stripes pattern I ordered scared my corrupt authoritarian government a little bit. It pokes on their insecurities. 😂
Hey, I'm not ill! Shortly after I launched HAC in 2019 my wife got diagnosed with cancer, but HAC and myself are good to go, (My wife's doing great too 😂😂🙏🏼🙏🏼) so maybe there was some confusion with that?
Our cables are as easy as ever to get ahold of! 1-2 business days for stock orders. 2 weeks for custom orders 👍🏼
@@hartaudiocables Glad to hear you and your family is well! I have received the cable too! Love my Star and Stripes and Imperial Red Diamonds patterned cable.
Thanks for taking care of the shipment and catering to my additional requests regarding the shipment!
Really dig this. In an ideal world Periapt would do a discounted 3 pack combo, where you get the adapter cable and your choice of three different termination splitters. That'd make my life so much easier.
I still prefer the convenience of not having to charge every single gadget and peripheral accessory I own constantly and not worrying about the charge level on every device that I use daily.
Facts
that is a super good point, mad to think I carry a pair of "value" wired inears as an emergency in case my Bluetooth things fail on me. I mean, the sound is better on the main pair, but you still wonder why. Then I remembered I was forever breaking the cables on my wired headphones when out and about, catching them on this and that which ended up costing me a fortune. Still wish I wasn't so clumsy though, luckily my xm4s will still work when cabled even if the battery is flat, so, you know, not awful I suppose. I tell you what though, I wouldn't take my really nice pair out and about.
@@ggproductions7078 I use Tin T2s out and about, and Sennheiser HD 580X Jubilees with a Fiio K3 DAC/AMP at home. Still using the cables that came with them years ago.
On the other hand, my brother's fiance goes through cables every week and also loses wireless in-ears constantly. At that point, it's not an issue with the things you're using.
or you get a sony product that has 35 hours of battery and you use it foir half a week with one charge
We do Iem monitoring for musicians from clubs to concerts. We’ve been making cables like this with a plug and connector instead of a splitter for years. We use a short cable to a receiver pack or a long one to a drummer ,as an example. It makes the cables much more versatile. It’s actually almost exactly what you have there except we have many sizes to attach at the split; in the studio it might be a 6’ or a 10’, 20’ , or what the job calls for. It works great for us. All the best, Sonny T
Seems like a cool product and priced reasonably. well done
big fan of hart audio cables so this is interesting but probably not committing to an entirely new ecosystem.
I pulled the trigger with their Black Friday sale. Super excited to simplify my desk ecosystem.
I've wanted to get a new cable but never had a reason to purchase one. Anything to help support you Joshua! You're great!
Love the intro! :D
love the honesty
Just got my splyt today, looks really well built and the 4.4mm connecter feels rock solid. Good work Josh! and periapt i guess
Just saying thanks homie, I own 1 bottom and 4 tops now. I have purchased the new version of the Sundaras, DT1990, 6xx, and 99 Meze with a midgard/modious. I don't regret any of my purchases because of you! I am partially deaf from having to fire my weapon a lot while deployed so I appreciate being able to enjoy music, movies, and gaming again.
awesome design
I like that Periapt went with taking the connector to the bottom of the splitter, and using the heavy cable sheath.
I have no idea who the original brand was, but some gear I got from a family member from possibly late 70's, and definitely from the 80's, was these 18"-24" short cables, with a 6' coiled cable. Similar idea. I never understood why it didn't take off, where you have all these 3', 6' or 10' cables.
Periapt make some slick cables. Nice design; will have to convince the wife 😅
hart audio cables does this since a lot of time and their cables are fantastic
looks like a very cool item for dongle user as well, since they can just use dongle as their splitter and use the regular 1.2m usb-c cable as the rest of the length so it can declutter some problems for the pocket, very nice indeed.
Excelente idea
Modular system! Like it.
My only problem with 4.4mm on something like this is the risk of a short while plugging/unplugging with anything playing. I feel like there's gonna be some oops moments with these. This is the reason mini XLR exists whether you hate them or not.
Agreed
The only reason he hates the mini XLR is that it is already being done…. So it’s mainly marketing BS.
I literally have this exact thing that I got custom made with the only exception that the split plug is male to female on the headphone side, and male to male on the extension to amp side so that the extension cable can be used as its own cable when plugging in headphones with single 3.5mm connectors. Easily the best purchase I ever made. This is awesome to see someone finally take the initiative with a standard, easy to order, option. In case I need a replacement somewhat quickly for one of my splits, hopefully they can do this change custom at low or no additional cost since periapt says they accept customizations on these orders.
Oh, and to be clear, I use a 10ft 4.4mm to 3.5mm male to male for the extension and just flip it around for single 3.5mm headphones into my amp with another short male 3.5mm to female 4.4mm connector. I also have a good 4.5ft male to male 3.5mm cable for single 3.5mm headphones and a 3ft 4.4mm to 3.5mm cable for the splits whenever I just want to connect them to my phone to move around. I'm sure at some point I will make several more lengths of extensions but it hasn't been necessary yet.
I was looking for something exactly like this, I've bought heart audio in the past but the Periapt look a lot more robust. Will give them a shot
I have been building my own cables like this for ages
Well Joshua, that makes at least two of us regarding cables. In fact, my design idea takes it a step further ;)
I’ve been making a version of these for my own headphones for years (I don’t sell them). I love this. 4.4 should be the end all be all connector if you ask me.
Yeah these are nice. Got Focal and HD650 into 4.4mm for my Topping A90 and various portable DAC/amps.
It’s good to see options, however, I see this as notably inferior to Hart Audio Cables in every way except speed/ease of connection (good and bad) and cable weight/thickness (I prefer hart, but it’s a matter of preference). Having that size connection at the split just seems too heavy and bulky, getting multiple connect types and split types is more expensive with the connection point at the split, not to mention less travel/packing friendly, and as others have noted, I’m curious how likely shorting could be relying on 4.4 for the quick connect.
I’m sure it’ll be loved and great for some, but too many downsides in my book, despite me enjoying Periapt cables.
Hart audio has had this option for a long time
I see myself switching over to this if they offer more color schemes. I've been using Hart's mico-xlr and it's nice, but they do tend to be finicky and I worry about damaging the xlr input of my balnaced amp if I pull on it.
Hi Joshua, I would love to have supported your new cables. But, Man, when I went to the checkout, the postage was $165USD for a cable to Tasmania, Australia. I was so impressed with the cables too. Regards Robert van der Veen
got similar custom woven copper cables made from an aliexpress store with Rean 4-Pin mini XLR interconnect.
But yeah, your arguments for 4.4 interconnect make sense.
this would be an immense help for reviewers to compare two or more headphones 👀
Just ordered a set. This is perfect I wanted to use my 6xx for the pc and then not swap cables to 4.4 to use with my btr7.
Going to be ordering some shortly, got a few different types of headphone so I am hoping this sorts out my cable issues and allows me to sell off some of my extra great, but unncessary cables for me. Thanks!
Pity some of the more exotic designs didn't remain.
I gotta say this is exactly what I want
Excellent
Still loving my Hart audio cables. I have a set for every pair of headphones I own, which is too damn many, but I bout them around 4 to 5 years ago, before the whole world went crazy, the prices were great and I got custom colors and great quality. These do look neat but until I have to make a change, I am sticking with what I have.
Super cool to see this idea getting picked up. I presented a rough draft of this idea to the headphones subreddit a while back and no one really got it or they thought it was pointless. So I went out and made it myself. I made a y split section for both a Meze Empy and Sennheiser, and it plugged into the main portion via mini-xlr. The main cable was 4-pin XLR. People were more receptive after seeing an actual finished product. It was pretty rough since it was my first ever DIY cable and I went hardmode by starting out with this design, but it worked well. Took about 50 hours all in to make all 3 pieces.
I was looking to buy a cable for the first time and I could not find an option like this (I took for granted the market was full of them), in a way it is sad that this is seen as some sort of "innovation", or that at least there are not many similar options on the market.
seems like a really good product, congrats!
Are there plans to make matching high quality interconnects? Having a 4.4mm line out on my DAP and a modular cable to plug into headphones or desktop amps/dac would be killer with this! Being able to have a nice short cable to connect my DAP to stuff would be awesome and it doesn't seem like cable makers are doing this at any meaninful quantity.
The little acting scits made this video more entertaining than usual. Good watch, seems like a decent product, but i only have 1 pair of headphones.
I would be afraid to use this with XLR on the amplifier. 4.4mm can short when plugging in while XLR doesn't do this so the amp might not be designed to handle this.
Agreed
Please explain. If I pause my music from an audio source and then unplug the cable I'll cause a short? Or is it possible only if the cable is yanked? If I spill a drink on the connector does it short? I would like a pair of these in 17.1 awg Silver Ag occ.
i know hart audio have a similar product using 4 pin mini xlr as the connection midway down the cable instead of the 4.4mm
@@abdulshabazz8597 I would say that if there is no signal it shouldn't be a problem but I am not qualified to answer this question for sure. I would also expect most amplifiers to have protections in place to deal with shorts. I would be fine with using these cables but would turn off the amplifier when switching headphones.
Was that an XDUOO XD05 Pro that you were stuffing into your vest? Can we anticipate a forthcoming review ?
Upvoted because of the appropriate usage of memes.
i wanna know where you bought that sweater
Please when you get a chance review the new Swiss Army Knife iFi iCAN Phantom. I need a all in one Desktop amp and this looks like it.
0:00 - 0:07 babe a new great quote dropped
Review the Audeze MM-100!!
Grrrr @ the numbering system . I ordered the ZMF cables instead of the HD6xx cables 😅
These would be great for a single headphone that pulls double duty as a desk and mobile headphone. Long cable at the desk and short cable for mobile
When adding an adapter, do you not degrade/alter sound?
8:29 This is not a Giant mistake. This is a great mistake. What an amazing marketing idea and collab 😊
What is the portable amp (blue) you are using?
Not sure if it is something I need... but it is something I would like to have....
"I don't hate myself so I don't review cables." Indeed.
NOICE!
Is this any different than what zeos has been doing with PERIAPT for years???
i can somehow hear Zeos rejoicing
It looks like you're ripping off Hart Audio's cable cable system, but instead of mini 4-pin XLR It's 4.4MM Which you can also get from hartaudiocables if you special request 4.4.4MM 😉
Except with Hart the chunky interconnect point isn't hanging halfway down your chest and instead rests nicely next to the amp.
@lxmcc I know that I didn't get a chance to edit my comment to what I wanted to say
Should have used a DAC with a clip and clipped it to your shirt... like the BTR3 or something...
Hey! Just popping into the comments here because as you all know, we are the beginning and end of modular cable systems (that was a joke, relax 😂), and I'm sure comparisons will be made.
Periapt does great stuff! Go with them if you'd like. Or give our stuff a shot if you'd like.
I'll say I've been asked many times why we don't / didn't base our modular system around the 4.4mm connection instead of the mini-XLRs we use.
The reason is because in my experience, female phone connectors just don't hold up to as many plug / unplug cycles as the connectors we went with do. But that limitation might be a non-factor for a lot of people.
Finally, I'll say that if someone wants us to make custom cables for them based around the 4.4mm connection instead of our mini-xlr stuff, we can do that no problem, just send a request in at the custom shop request page on our site 👍🏼
Of course the periapt option here looks great too 👍🏼🔥
So just like harts system but instead of zeos we get joshy. I also like periapt cables so upgrades all around
Funny, I suggested this very approach to Hart 2 years ago and they said they didn’t get it.
Plus little people will buy them, they get tangled up in their headphone cables constantly; you have no idea how many calls I've been too involving this scenario.
Why Josh starting the vid rizzing me with a blue steel
This is epic, im constantly moving from the office to the house and dragging my kit around. A bottom cable in each area, bought!
Snake oily?
my problem (heh) is that i have roughly 20 pair of headphones. no matter what, for custom cables i had to learn to solder.
Finally someone made swapping headphones safer. Last week I swapped normally cabled cans at my desk, and now I have cancer. Curse my devil-may-care lifestyle!
Honestly, it's a shame I don't have more than 3 total headphones with differing cables. I can't really justify the cost at the moment
IMHO, this would go in the "why tf isn't this an industry standard" category.
I prefer to use Hart Audio cables.
Hmm, I don’t see the advantage of this system and its cost unless you are reviewing and using many headphones a day. In my listening room, I have a headphone hanger with the cables attached to the two main headphones that I use, and everything plugs into the same extension cable, so this seems like its usefulness is for a (niche) group. It appears that you are just shortening the main headphone cable and that may be beneficial if you don't want 4-10 ft cables hanging off your headphones while they are on a hanger or stand. If I happen to be on the go, I use wireless IEMs.
I had the same idea gor my corded powertools. I hate that every tool comes with a permanent cable that just makes it difficult to store neatly. Plan on cutting all the cords to maybe 10 inches and use a few extension cable reels to clean everything up.
Just wanna let you know that it says headpones in the thumbnail.
I had this exact setup custom made for me a few years back and I can confirm it is fantastic ergonomically and from a practical stand point.
1 cable system works with bluetooth dongle, desktop amp and dap, while minimizing unplugging from headphone and amp ends.
I have moved on from this setup as I sold it with a pair of my cans but I might just have to look at this one as the use case still holds
The one I had used 2.5mm for the join, which sucked, 4.4 is much better
this is a genius idea, this should be standardized
I would rather have the adapter be at the headphone end. A universal adapter, similar to what others have done switching the adapter at the amplifier end.
Yep periapt and Hart cables are easily e best bang for the buck
Bro thats my idea :D
about a month ago I was brainstorming with one of my friends and we basically come up with this exact -well kinda exact design.
ours had a twist lock system at the middle and we also thought about using a multi-connector system at the source end, kinda like the ones that come with the IEMs like Thieaudio Monarch or Letshuoer S12 pro.
I was thinking about partnering with HifiGo for distribution and a Chinese OEM for manufacturing.
My new cat just chewed through my Sundara cables... :(
It’s cool you made a cable, but the expression in your face in the thumbnail of this vid makes it seem like the cable is about to break which isn’t necessarily strong visual selling... 😊
Any guesses on when wireless will become as good as wired?
we've been there for a while now - any modern BT amp like a brt7 and an android phone to send aptx or ldac, and you can't hear the difference between wired.
gone are the days of sbc and early aac, wireless audio has been amazing for years. drop panda, grado gw100x, focal bathys.
now sighted and informed listening tells you wired 24/192 HAS TO sound better than anything wireless but the truth is... technology skipped right past that long ago.
@@sauhamm3821 Huh, the video (or at least the first 15 seconds) says otherwise, that's why I am asking but I can definitely get behind that. Are they there latency-wise? That would be another big topic.
it depends on the AMP that the wireless system it has.
1st forget about the IEM's because due to their design they are bound to be lossy but this is not exactly an issue: models like Moondrop space travel or mainstream options like Galaxy buds are good enough.
but when you take headphones into equation things get more interesting. first you have a ton of free space; you can showe a Cirrus Logic or ESS Dac right into headphone. second you got the option of DSP system; long storys short you can make a bad driver sound great, a good driver sound AMAZİNG with this tech. just look at the audeze maxwell (And Crin's project dusk V2)
onşy issue is the battery wear and tear but this can be solved with a replaceable battery system. old Nokia Bl5c batteries have a ton of energy potential a bigger version of this would be able to give you an all week battery life.
all theres left is a fast wireless connection and qualcomm chips can handle that

Cool design but too expensive if you own several headphones and unnecessary if you don't
That Y splitter is gonna be heavy and the heatshrink job is so bad. This isn't really pro grade product
$90 with a 20% discount. So $112 without the discount.
Less connectors = better
Agree. I have cable with this kind of adapter and don't sound good on summit-fi headphone (if you believe in sound difference)
One big giant sdvertiseme t. Other cables manufactures been doing this. If you been into headfi long enough with all kinds of headphones this is nothing new. Yes. I dislike all the different proprietary connections on headphones as well. A definate no on the lemo connector. Mark levinson and maybe cello were prob9bly the only manufactured that used that and look how well that caught on . Thanks .
Great product but worst website experience, you can do so much better with custom to the product website
why dont headphone manufacturers just make headphones with a single cable like most beyerdynamic headphones? whats the point of having cables coming out of each earcup?
Possibility of balanced
This is an advertise:
Me skiping the video
Hart Audio already developed this concept. It's nothing new.
clickbaity ahh thumbnail
Your last few videos are really disappointing. Reviews of macbooks, cables, wth... What happened with your quality? 😢
wdym no conflict of interest? do you not make money from a product with your name on it? If you make any amount of money from this there is a conflict of interest. That doesn't necessarily mean that what you're saying about it isn't impartial, but there's still an undeniable conflict of interest. Obviously you can make a good review about something that you profit from, but denying that there exists a conflict of interest is wrong
Another point on the Lemo connectors, the larger ones are in super high demand because of electric vehicles, and the lead times can be up to *1 year!*
