  • In this episode we pinch the chassis rails in to match the Model A body and get the body sitting flat on the frame. We go over all the steps we took to get the Sweet Heart Roadster sitting nice and flat on the deuce frame. Thanks for watching! I did my 31 Brookville on 32 AS rails exactly the same way and it creates the best look IMO. Kept the rear rails for a 32 tank out back, and took the arch out the front rails to allow the A hood sides to also sit flat on top so they follow the body to the grill shell........
Love your build, Its great that you can show others how to do it as it took me for ever to get all the pintching

I accidentally bought a 1930 Doge chassis ( Frame ) and that's true it was suppose to be a joke , I put a bid of $250 on it , it came with a 36 Ford Banjo Diff and a 36 i beam front Axel set up and won the bid , so I thought I would put a A Model pickup on it and you just gave me some ideas , thanks Mate .

Great how to , the frist frame I attempted on my 50 f-1 rat rod I didn't use a laser level or a table and it was a disappointing at best . Take two did both and the results are much better frame is square and the body sits nicely on it . Found your channel a while back and the videos are great ....learning more each new video . Thanks Shawn

Nicely done. I've located a whole 35 36 ford chassis minus engine. I'm playing with the idea of pinching the front to fit a 32 or 33 ford body, as it doesn't appear they reproduce a 35 36 body at all and they're not often seen at swap meets.

Now that you're finished did you need to move that crossmember up an inch or could you done without that?

I understand the desire to keep the Vintage processes in building the rods, but I keep looking at the firewall and wondering why you don't reverse it.

Exactly , Model a frames don’t fit on 32 chassis, it’s called fabricate to make fit ! Great video

Hey question... it bothers me.. but when you squeeze in the front how does this effect putting on the front end? Where does that attach ? Just a point of confusion as I have never done this... always wanted to do..

The front end attaches the same as before. Front leaf spring in the center and you attach the wishbones however you’d like but most people split them and put them towards the outside of the frame.

Weren't you going to show where you pinched frame and how it was done?? Was it pinched near the firewall then opened up near the front to git the grill or ???

both rails were held together at the rear crossmember and pulled together at the front. Then welded the front crossmember to the rails. The deuce shell fit better and the sides did also. Really a good job of pinching the rails.
