      J9 is not the best bc it blocks T9s and Q9s, but I think it makes for a pretty decent call. I don't think its the craziest call ever either like Afrait was making it out to be, but in the context it was just a big hand that really shifted the momentum of the whole tournament and caused a tantrum. I wouldn't even call it a hero call. He raised early, but the range for Afriat could be huge in this situation. Now, after the flop he tosses out $250k. Top pair easily comes along on that bet. On the turn, he bets out 750k into a 980k pot after the 2 of clubs comes. Ask yourself, what hand did the 2 of clubs help? Pocket 2's. Because he didn't open with jack-2. He could have 8's or j's, that hit a set on turn, but there is a strong indication that he has a drawing hand with that bet on the turn. The 2 of spades comes on the river meaning the diamond flush missed and the potential backdoor clubs missed. But clubs and straight draws were unlikely unless he has 9-10 suited in which case he might of opened depending on the player. I suppose A-KQJ might be betting(especially j) on the flop. But the open, the cards on the flop, and the 250k bet feels like someone on a draw who wants to take the pot down. The 750k bet after a 2 didn't make any sense. What story is he trying to tell. Then, a second two that misses all the draws comes, and he jams. Sure, a better kicker with the jack like a-j, or k-j, or q-j could be winning, but the betting said otherwise. The fact is, I would feel like I am winning that hand 75% of the time. It is a justifiable call.

    Not an easy call to make but when you factor in the amount of snap folds Barny has by the river it's a spot where villian can bluff A LOT of hands. Great call by Barny.

    I actually like this Afriat guy. He seemed like not such a bad guy in the end after watching the whole thing. He didn’t whine when he lost and shook everyone’s hand with a smile like a gentleman. Boatman was a bit more of a jerk considering with his massive stack he wouldn’t even wish him good luck 😂.

    • @kjr4946
      @kjr4946 Před 18 dny

      Because etiquette reflects your ability to respect the other players at the table. If you don't care about the quality of people you surround yourself with, then sure, it doesn't matter. But it's the mark of a mature, fully functioning adult.

    • @ericdoheny9108
      @ericdoheny9108 Před 17 dny

      @@kjr4946 this player was in adherence to the rules of the game & his demeanor was pleasant. I can’t think of any other competitive game or sport where people virtue signal such emphasis for “etiquette.” For fucks sake, to win the game it helps to emotionally manipulate, mislead & deceive your opponent through gaslighting (“good fold” when it wasn’t/showing ONE card to plant the seed of DOUBT), teasing (showing bluffs) & targeting the vulnerable (tired, drunk, inexperienced players). Nothing about poker is any form of expression of etiquette! This guy showed LOTS of humility & class by complimenting his opponent’s play when he lost- which to me, speaks louder of his character than USING THE TIME CHIPS WHICH ARE THERE FOR HIM TO USE 🤷🏻‍♂️ 😆 🤡
