I guess I have a weird beagle. He loves being picked up. He hugs me back when I hug him. He lays on the couch when I vacuum the house and lastly, HE DOESN'T BARK!! 😭😭 I love him

It's not weird, it's just a quirk of their individual personality. Lucky liked to be picked up too-- AT TIMES!!! It was like he could view more of his kingdom (maybe that's anthropomorphizing). But there were quite a few times he definitely didn't want it.

Some Beagles are different from each other. When I first took Joey(my Beagle) to the vet. The first question ask was “is he a city Beagle or a country Beagle “? Since he is my first Beagle and a rescue I didn’t have an answer. We soon had an answer. After the exam, weight, temperature and vaccinations. We found out he is a country Beagle. He made it through the visit with a whimper or resisting. However city Beagles tend to cry/barroo and hide. Thought you might find that interesting.
My Russell (pure bred Beagle) loves to spoon I am handicapped and very ill and need daily rests. Russell jumps up on my bed at my rest time and assumes the spooning position. He also adores being hugged and kissed. He offers his cheek to me to kiss actually!❤
My beagle had MANY of these dislikes, however I always thought it was because he’d been used as a research fog before I adopted him. Poor boy was terrified of lots of touching and kisses. But, once I gained his trust he’d sometimes let me kiss him. You’re right on not liking go be held or cuddled; he hated that! I was able to help him overcome his fear of the vacuum by always saying, “It’s okay Sergie, I’m not going to hurt you.” He’d smell it first snd then relax. Miss him SO much! Been 2 months now

My boy was a remarkable case for how many notes he hit. He didn't like hugs or kisses, he had never licked a person's face, only their hands, his physical contact was more… just leaning on you, or sleeping behind you on the couch, he didn't resist being picked up but clearly didn't like it. But by God he was the best friend one could ask for
My childhood beagle hated the vacuum when he was a puppy, but he quickly got use to it. He was fine with most of these, hugs was a funny thing as when he wasn't in the mood for them he'd do an over the top sigh. He was a sassy fur ball.
My beagle loves going to the vet, she loves those people. And she loves hugs... in fact she tries to hug me all day long. She can snug up to me the entire day without moving... even beg me if I don't
My guys are REALLY sensitive to peoples moods- if we have a patient come in who is stressed or upset they both come right over, sit and lean on a leg and look up at the person expectantly. It NEVER fails.....

My Sadie beagle has the anti-cuddle thing and that's all I want to do is scoop her up when she lays on my bed. I have learned cuddle time has 2B on her terms- not mine. I've learned to appreciate the adorable shape of the back of her sweet auburn head as she always lays near the foot of the bed and leans onto my legs as close as she can get. I read an article that when your dog sits on your foot/ leans hard with all their weight into you ... practically sitting on you-- that is the way they hug🤗. The article also said that when they stare deeply into your eyes and there's no food or treat involved that's their way of telling you that they love you. I know you know your pup better than anyone, maybe try singing a soft quiet James Taylor😄 song and see if your pup stares into your eyes because they love you, or and be prepared for the stink-eye of him saying please stop🤣. Our beagle is older & has arthritis. I feel guilty that we didn't get prescription antii-nflammatories immediately when the vet first suggested it as we had the dog on VERY expensive antii-nflammatory enzymes. But now that the dog is on these prescriptions we see how much happier she is. I did not know that dogs don't tell you when they are in pain. This dog has the sweetest spirit. Sorry if name icon comes up 2x. Computer glitch.
Winslow wants to be picked up, rather have the music turned up, and eats treats off the roomba…idk- I guess I have the weird one…and loves to get kisses and gives kisses and loves to be held and hugged all the time. Lmao
My first Beagle named Georgia would return a kiss with a lick on the lips. And she somewhat tolerated hugs. You could yell all you wanted to. She would give you a look as if she were ready to say "Quit your damn yelling I'm not deaf I can hear you just fine". Such a funny loveable dog that I miss so much like her successor Gypsy Beagle.
I think some of the issues are specific or in general issues and vary depending on the individual and or owner. With that being said, all the beagles I've had were kinda opposite to yours, but a couple of them were exactly like described in some of these videos. I will say I have heard of some great ideas and a couple of things I've overlooked because of stereotypical thinking about the hound type dog in general. Keep up the great work girl!
My male beagles did not like to be hugged or cuddeled. But my female beagle was the complete opposite. But they all were / are really sweet and loving on their own way.
I think its the time and spent with them as well..we have 2 beagles they walk off leash..don't howl(except at mailman). Love cuddles, hate loud noises, that is true.
My beagle are totally different. Especially when it comes to Vet care. She loves to come to the vet care. She walks very fast from home. So fast that I can't nearly follow with her. She already got happy when I asked her "do you want to go to vet care?"😅
The female beagle lies on her back in her sleep with paws curled and head facing left. When she woke up she lied on her back again expecting me to rub her belly. She then followed me down the stairs and wanted a hug and kisses. That’s when she kissed me back. So adorable!
awesome video, of course they all have a personality of their own but beagles are definitely a dog you have to meet in the middle. they cant be outright dominated like other types of dogs, theyre highly independent and stubborn. instead of grabbing and hugging my dog i usually lay with her and let her nuzzle me, she likes that more

I kiss my beagles all the time. They are used to it now.....hugs area process, One of my beagles attacks my vacuum while the other stands guard and protects the vacuum. Every time I pull out the vacuum she comes and stands between the vacuum and the other beagle. Makes us laugh.

Well my first one is gonna be 1 year in November, she’s funny. She however does not appreciate ppl who walk close to my jeep! She immediately starts a deep bark and howling, enough it scares the ppl they jerk and move away. She likes going to my vet doesn’t matter the reason, as far as separation anxiety she has been crate trained since she was months old, and lives her den. I also used the crate to train her potty habits as well. She doesn’t seem to like ppl and dogs that walk by my parents fenced in yards, she runs barks and howls at them. She has been raised with my little digs, my farm critters and cats. She does she to chase them and play as when she is off human hands the leash is always in for easy grabs. She does get time to run free in an enclosed area supervised. She loves to be hugged, kissed, picked up and carried like a baby. She’s a 13” beagle from front paw grounded to shoulder height. She’s a big baby.

Very true about beagles...my 11month old male tri color beagle doesn't like being picked up and hates being cuddled. He loves you when you are about to give them food....but if not...hahaha goodluck with that, he is more likely to ignore you.

I had four vacuum cleaners all of them are missing the cord it's like my (spawn of Satan) knows chew the cord out daddy can't plug it in🐶😐and the dust broom don't make a difference he still chase me around when I'm cleaning 😂
My Apollo, when he was like 5-6mos old, I kissed him and he bit me in my lips and I got sutured. But while growing, he is now 1yr7mos old, he tolerates us kissing him. He doesnt want to be picked up unless he's tired enough to walk.
OMG every human is different and likes different things and hates different things, dogs are the same common. I have 2 beagles and the are both completely different in what they like and dislike. Not all beagles are going to eat themselves to death and bark nonstop. Each beagle is going to have their own personality.
Mine must be out of this world cuz I've never been more angry or frustrated because of a dog...definitely strong minded and stubborn as a bull as they say but definitely more than one. And no patience whatsoever...no matter how long you can try to teach it something he will always choose the opposite 🤦♀️

My beagle thinks I'm playing when I yell... probably because I don't do it often. When I do, she jumps on me to play.
My Sadie beagle has the anti-cuddle thing / just wish I could scoop her up when she lays on my bed. BUT- i have learned her definition of cuddle time is just different. I've learned to appreciate the adorable shape of the back of her sweet auburn head as she always lays near the foot of the bed and leans onto my legs as close as she can lay. I read an article that when your dog sits on your foot/leans hard into you ...practically sitting on you; that is the way they hug🤗. The article also said that when they stare deeply into your eyes and there's no food or treat involved that's their way of telling you that they love you. we can get better at Reading the defense (of our pups being uncomfortable) Bros-😉hang in there!

I hug and kiss the heck out of my beagle. He loves it. He also loves for my husband to pick him up and hold him with his head on my husband's shoulder. He is a love bug.

Very true about beagles...my 11month old male tri color beagle doesn't like being picked up and hates being cuddled. He loves you when you are about to give them food....but if not...hahaha goodluck with that, he is more likely to ignore you.
My beagle daughter asks to get picked up all the time and hugs me. She loves kisses, cuddles and hugs. She is a complete lap baby after play fighting with my labrador girl.
Thunder and fireworks....thats my Rooneys Darth Vader ..hes insanely attatched when he hears that shit....feel bad my Dog has PTSD ..and not making light of that at all ..he was a rescue and he FLIPS when a BOOM happens...

My beagle approaches me every time I start the vacuum cleaner and she wants to get vacuumed too.
My beagle seems to love kisses, and being picked up. She purrs or...snorts like a baby pig when she is content .. and she does that a lot when I love on her like that. This advice may be true for some dogs, but I have to disagree with some of it.

My Apollo, when he was like 5-6mos old, I kissed him and he bit me in my lips and I got sutured. But while growing, he is now 1yr7mos old, he tolerates us kissing him. He doesnt want to be picked up unless he's tired enough to walk.

OMG every human is different and likes different things and hates different things, dogs are the same common. I have 2 beagles and the are both completely different in what they like and dislike. Not all beagles are going to eat themselves to death and bark nonstop. Each beagle is going to have their own personality.
Mine must be out of this world cuz I've never been more angry or frustrated because of a dog...definitely strong minded and stubborn as a bull as they say but definitely more than one. And no patience whatsoever...no matter how long you can try to teach it something he will always choose the opposite 🤦♀️

Stuart the Beagle loves to be kissed and will kiss me back! It's quite sweet. He does hate the vet, the vacuum, loud noises, and being picked up though.
If you get a roomba then it is a lot quieter and my two beagles are fine with it.
