I'm doing my OCR A Level Computer Science project right now and was thinking of using unity to make a 2d platformer. For my own reference, what grade were you awarded for this?
@@Sam-os5cy I’m going into year 12 and I’m kinda anxious cos r u expected to teach yourself an entire programming language? Cos I don’t wanna use python which is the one taught at gcse
@@user-ky5ev6sk1q yeah pretty much but you'll get any help you ask for and you're likely to be taught about object oriented programming. Don't worry about it too much over the holidays tho
@@user-ky5ev6sk1q You can use python if you want, I was going to but because it is quite slow, I have started learning c++. Once you've learned one language, learning new ones is much easier because learning syntax isn't that difficult, the hard part is understanding concepts like variables, functions, if statements, loops, classes which are more or less the same across languages in how you use them.
He used Unity, a game creation program that allows you to create a GUI. I've heard you can import different languages into Unity. So Josh must've done something like that.
@@itsd3br33 Do you know if you can use Javascript with AQA A level NEA, can't see it in the supported languages list and I'm wondering if you can use it
Nice work! What grade did you achieve from your NEA?
Well done
Also what type of game would this be considered
This project took up 40% of my study time just for 20% of my Com Sci grade :( I should've done physics instead
My physics exam is tomorrow. I don’t think you’d like to be me rn.
how did u design your map
is this done with c#?
what grade did you get for this?
What did u get for the OCR programming project (question mark), I'm very confused on what sort of game to make too...
what game did u make
What approach did you take when making the database from which you are able to authenticate user profiles and display them onto the leaderboard?
Hi, Im doing an NEA for AQA and doing a little game like this too. Did you ever figure out a way to make databases work?
@@christophermorley6615if you still need an answer, i’m using microsoft’s PlayFab for mine!
@@xeonex5920 hi thanks for the tip! I ended up using SQLite as mono has built in support for it. Thanks!!

yo , what languages can we use ? in year 11 and got no clue atm
@@Daniel_k729 you can choose any within reason, like i'm using c# atm but python, java, unity etc are all allowed

are you allowed to make games, and not just something that solves something?
does it have to be a game?
what language did you use?
it would be c#, its in unity game engine
@@TheSourovAqib Ok thanks
Nice, what grade did u get for this NEA
Thats what I wanna knowww

Can you link your source code?
I have no knowledge on coding or anything but thinking of applying for A level Computer science would I be able to cope ?
Yeah of course. There are loads of tutorials on youtube if you get stuck
Hi what exam board did u do
