On December 17, 2015, 15-year-old Zaevion Dobson sacrificed his life to protect his friends from random gunfire. Since then, the high school sophomore has been commended by a tearful President Obama, honored by 100 Black Men of America, and received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY 2016 Awards.

Being a kid living in Knoxville and born in Knoxville, this was crazy for us. Everybody in the local area knew Zae because of his potential. People also don't realize that a few months after this, Zae's cousin was also murdered while sitting in a gas station parking lot.

I go to my schools weight room everyday, I play football just like he did. To see someone loose their life to let 3 others live there's is amazing. This is my motivation, to keep going and train harder everyday. Because someday we won't have this anymore. But for now I will keep going and will never stop, rest in peace man, your an amazing guy and I will always wish the best for you.

on November 29th, 2019 i lost a brother as well. Being a lineman, it hit me extremely hard considering he was also a lineman. sadly i know how these guys feel about losing someone so close. At the end, you keep moving forward with their memory. We are dedicating our season to him.

This is one of the saddest story/event that ever happened. He dies because he saved 3 girls. I call him a hero in my book. It doesn’t matter if they are black, orange, or white. He saved them girls and that’s what mattered the most to him and he did that. That should mean a lot to you guys because he wasn’t a bad kid, he was smart, and very athletic. And he gets killed for saving 3 people. Honestly I say I’m proud of him because no one had the guts to do it and he did what he needed to, to keep them safe. But fly high man🙏🏼☝🏼
