  • We team up with a carnivorous plant expert and enthusiast Mr Yudhistira in this episode to discuss Nepenthes. We start by defining what carnivorous plant behavior is, and where they stem from in evolutionary terms. We talk about their natural habitats, importance for ecosystems, their symbiotic relationship with many animals (Some of them you would be surprised), and conservation. We also break down the pitchers morphology, to understand what are the designs and functions of the pitchers to very minute details that is fun and interesting!

I’ve been growing these for years and did often notice my plants forming some kind of relationship with the local ant colonies (the plant give the ants constant supply of free food in exchange for a certain % of ants - and it’s a lot of food for the plants!) also, I notice geckos visiting my plants every day, they love the nectar.

Mantap.
