    Absolutely beautiful little Unimog. The 404 & 406 are definitely my favorite trucks of all time and you can still see them on the road in Africa.

      @@Niemand411 I know and didn't say it was one. Just that they're my favorite trucks.

    My father had a '62 just like that one. He had tons of stories of where it would take him.

    Held my breath every time you grabbed the wheel thinking “thumbs out” the whole time.
    That thing off road will snap your thumbs right off.

    I hate to do this but you are off on your specs they were designed much earlier I believe 1946/47
    They were designed for the farmer originally it's not a two stroke diesel it's 4 stroke. I own one. Also you can check it all out there is Unimog museum and they have a website.

    It is a tractor.. UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät", Gerät being the German word for a piece of equipment.. see wikipedia. Lot's of fun but later more useable ones for travel adventures are pretty big and not cheap to own/run. Big truck repair not car repair.

    • @OliverPickard
      @OliverPickard  Před 4 lety

      Hugely complicated and great fun but definitely not a tractor as far as the driving experience goes on different tyres it would be far more car like

    Amazing..I first saw a unimog spreading lime on fields in the 1980s and being a landrover lover I naturally wanted a unimog as well ..great didn't know that about the unimogs axles...would of like a look at the engine has I'm a commercial engine builder...oliver you should have had your ear defenders on...😂

      The noise wasn't that bad but at the time my microphone setup wasn't great and was pointing at the engine and not me haha

    You don't know anything about unimogs. The begin story is incorrect. And you are standing in front of a 411 and not a 404. It was indeed the petrol 404 who was build for army.

  • @cerealkillergmailcom
    @cerealkillergmailcom Před 4 lety +2

    That is not a 404.

      I couldn’t remember what that model is but I knew it wasn’t a 404. That one is special in that it has a Westfalia cab. Excellent video! Thanks for posting.

    Once again something the same age of me! The only Mercedes I would own - modern ones are over engineered plastic crap! Anything 2 stroke does it for me!
